Yep! Again, some people......... ::)
AAW, how do you justify Silsbee being ahead of Lumberton when in head to head the Raiders win on your turf and have a better record.  I personally think that both teams are overated in this poll, but no way Silsbee should be ahead on Lumberton.
 2. I am for the most part now staying out of this argument because it is futile for all of us to be debating this any more.  The sides are drawn and I have not seen anyone make an argument for either case (Stay FCS/SLC or go FBS/New Conference) that has swayed anyone to change their position.  We all think we know the answer (and are convinced that the opposition is absolutely clueless), but in the end it is just our own desire and opinion.  Dr. Simmons and his team will do the right thing at the right time.  And if history proves out, all of us who are on this board who really have a strong passion for the success of LU football really know that out of the 17k that have shown up for the 1st 2 home games , many are fair weather and will not continue to come if the program doesn't win in the next few years no matter what level we play at.
 3.

I saw alot of todays practice and our 1st. team offense went against of 1st. team defense. looked like Logan and Hussey averaged better than 6 yards a carry.....Was told we would run the ball alot this week....If we can block a little we can run the ball better or just run against our defense......
I think the Sam game is proof enough that anyone can gain 6 yards per carry on the LU defense. I'm not surprised by that at all.
I think that we have defensive scheme problem more than a personnel problem, but hey I'm no expert!
 4. It funny that all the Ned fans are picking PNG.  That's because they don't want their win over the Indians to be downgraded in significance by a subsequent PNG loss to the Raiders.  All the PNG fans are picking LUM because they see a loss to the Bulldogs as a sign that they are not very good and are vulnerable.  As far as the game just have to wait and see which team for either school shows up.  This one is really to hard to call at this point.
 5. I wonder also about the defensive scheme.  It seems to allow for little clogging up the middle.  If the RB clears the line there is nobody to stop them for at least 8 to 10 yards past the line of scrimmage.  Not sure having 2 LB's on the field is working.  Maybe now that we have the weight room set up in teh Athletic Complex we will see both the OL and DL guys bulk up and strengthen up but that wont be this year.  I may be old school, but all games are won on the line of scrimmage and you have to be able to run the ball to win championships.  I am confident this will come with time.  I am not down on the RB's they just need some room to be able to run.
 6. I would agree with you sir, if that was going on around me I would feel exactly like you do.  I suggest you get in touch with Dr. Simmons office and relay your concerns.  If smoking & drinking is prohibited in the stadium then something should be done about that.  I think you will get some action if you do call. The drinking at the tailgating will not be stopped but inebreated fans who are out of control need to be sent home to sleep it off.  I had a gentlemen who had definately had a little too much sitting by me at the first game, and albeit he was a little bit over the top, he was not out of control to the point that it had to be handled.

We'll know more next year.
Ok I opened the door and let you have free reign for the weekend, but enough already.  I thought you would extoll the virtues of a strong showing by your Bearkats but as I should have expected, you find it more pleasing to your ego to trash all things Lamar.  You don't look as smart as you think you do when your only objective is to bad mouth.
 8. There is a whole lot to say about tonights game but I really don't know where to start and I need time to sort through my thoughts.  For tonight I will just say that I'm trying to figure out the McNeese game in light of the last 2 weeks and what that means.  It is pretty evident that the Cowboys are not as good this year as in the last 10 or so but I think the first game we played above the level of our capabilities right now.  There are big question marks right now on both sides of the ball.  Lots of work to be done.
 9. I yield the floor to the esteemed FCS expert representing his beloved Bearkats from Sam Houston State!
Oldtimer your rush defense just got trounced and your only giving Vidor 3 points ??? We will have to see. Vidor by 7
Actually I think our "Rush defense" never adjusted out of being ready for their pass attack which they apparently shelved knowing we'd be ready for that. I never really saw us stack the box ll night long.
vid-28 lum-0
What else would you expect!!!!! ;D
No need to do a national search as Larry Tidwell has all the qualities one would look for in a AD. If you read to article Coach Tidwell will coach the women's basketball team this season and then they will evaluate things at the end of the season. Here is a quote from Coach Tidwell. "I will finish this season as head coach then sit down with Dr. Simmons, and he and I will evaluate the situation to see if one position or the other is being hurt by me being responsible for both jobs," said Tidwell. "If this is found to be the case, we'll make any adjustment necessary, but it is my hope that I'll continue to coach.
I am trying to be a realist in this situation, and knowing that my good friends and admirers Westend1st and Puddin Tane will be critical of anything I say, I will offer my thoughts.  Both jobs are FULL TIME jobs so it will be nearly impossible to give everything that is needed to both.  The only way it works is he will have to have a very strong and competent Assistant AD or his 1st Assisstant Coach has to be very good.  There is too much to be done for 1 man to do both jobs at the level that is needed without very strong assisstants, and even at that he will be divided.  I think Tidwell has great qualities and LU is lucky to have him (a Tubbs hire).  I see him being an asset to LU's growth in Athletics no matter which way this goes.
 13.
Sam rolls on....
Back to Huntsville, hopefully after a convincing loss to LU.  Seriously, big questions with Bevil out.  Will need the backups to step up big if he can't go.  The complextion of this game has changed considerably since last weekend.
This is part of the "SETX mentality" that UNLV talks about.
Coach, didn't you say you live in the Austin area?  My brother left here in 87 to go to college in the Austin area and has never looked back and is still there.  I didn't understand his insistence to not come back, but being a slow learner, I think I may be finally getting it.  You can find things wrong with the major metro areas of Texas (HTown, DFW, and Austin/San Antonio) but one thing you can't fault them far is being growth minded.

 16.
geez, we will miss them and their 8 fans
There is just so much I want to say about all this but it would be like water off a ducks back, so I will refrain.  That said, one day you will turn on the TV set and see Texas State playing a meaningful game against a big time opponent at home and wonder how that happened and why they are playing before a capacity crowd of 40k+.  But I doubt you would ever think and wonder how Lamar missed out on making the big stage.
 17. I will probably owe you an apology by the end of the season.  The Raiders don't appear to be as good as I thought and with a thin bench and injuries piling up, it looks like they will make your original prediction come true.  We will see.

Both have good offenses. But I think I would be BC with the big defensive stop (only need 1) to win this one in a shootout...
I don't think you feel bad at all, and I don't feel bad saying BC would put a woopin on Cental!
Really? Central is a very good team that has a legit shot a district champs i dont think BC can beat them
My point exactly, this is a ridiculous thread that deserves ridiculous responses.
 20. WOS will either play the most inpired ball they have played in a while or it could be real bad.  Who knows which team will show up.
 21. Props to LCM.  They won and they won big.

 23. Its threads like this one that shows the down side of message boards.  You get people who come on here spewing garbage and then when someone tries to defend it, all you get is "you hater".
 24. Who knows on this one.  Not sure with all that is going on in Big Ned if Friday's win is as impressive as it seems but pretty concerned about the Raiders showing against an inspired and improved LCM team.  Just couldn't hazard to guess at this point.
 25. The plain and simple truth is Lamar isn't that bad and SFA isn't that good as the score indicates.  I would call everyone who considers themselves Lamar fans to hang tough, there is still some good football and I believe some good wins left with this first year team.  I don't like what happened Saturday night but I do like everything else that we have done so far.  I am confident that they will overcome adversity.
