Figuring out my availability for SHSU @ Nicholls and McNeese @ SHSU.
I guess you are waiting until Saturday night before you weigh in on the SFA route.  I have to admit you are using discretion.  I assume we will here from you in full force if Sam wins the game.  I'll say it now that I think we still have a very good chance of winning.  We will just have see how the QB situation progresses during the week.
Bevil needs to pick it up...............
If Bevil is out and Kevin Smith sidelined for who knows how long it will be very tough to win the game.  We will just have to wait and see .  Go Cards!!!!

 3.
Calling the WAC, calling the WAC!!!  Please let us join.  We are too good for the likes of SFA!!!   LOL, losing 38-3 at half!!!
This is great.  You are ecstatic for a big loss to prove your point.  Geez!!!!!
 4.
The problem is I don't see Dr. Simmons staying around too much longer. He wanted to get enrollment up and restart the football program. Both have been done. He might not be around for very many more years. Hopefully they continue to buy up all of the land between campus and MLK. I would tear down those apartment complexes, and I think they might be able to expand that way. The problem is you have ugly scenery around the campus. ie concrete company, old warehouses, plants, falling down homes. I hope it happens and they do expand though.
That's the 64k question.  How long will he continue to be president.  My guess is 3-5 years.  He has to be in his mid 60's but appears to be very vibrant.  I would hope that there is a succession plan in place (not a specific individual necessarily) but a profile of the type of person.  It needs to be the best person, not someones friend.  He is unique because he truly loves the University and the area and wants the best for both.  That is why Kyle Hayes should capitalize on the time left during Dr. Simmons tenure.  I've said it before, based on his body of work todate, he is the greatest leader in my 33 years of association (as student and alum) with the LU.  I believe an argument can be made he is the best all time.  I think it will only get better before his time is up.
 5. If LU is making a presentation to the WAC on Tuesday, then you have to think that Dr. Simmons, Tidwell, & possible Billy Tubbs has and is putting together the information and power point about Lamar and its athletic programs.  Would love to see that presentation, or at least some of the pertinent facts.
 6. I can't wish anything but good for Ben Wells.  Except I hope LU beats the Jacks tomorrow night.  If we do he shouldn't be happy about that.  I still wish he would have chosen to come to LU but with his former coaches now at SFA and they do have a good team that will make the playoffs, I can see how he made his decision.  I do believe he is surprised by how well the Cards have come out of the gate.
 7. Im not from PNG so correct me if I'm wrong, but my memory tells me that year in year out PNG always does extremely well at the subvarsity level because they have a lot of good kids in the program and I think they may have a higher number of Juniors on JV than most of the 4A programs.  Not being critical because the varsity success speaks for itself.
 8. Wouldn't that be great!  20k+ students with hopefully at least 8-10k living on campus.  Can you imagine what that would do for the revitalization of Beaumont, especially South Park.  If I was City Manager Kyle Hayes, I would be working with Dr. Simmons closely (like weekly) to see what infrastructure the city can provide to help fuel the growth.  Maybe finally our leaders will work together and use their collective brain power and resources for the good of the community.

Also, JV in the 2nd: LCM 21 Lumberton 0
Whoever told you LR freshman were dominant was telling you a fib. They haven't won a game this year. The freshman and JV usually do lose....all the playmakers are on varsity!  ;D
Sounds like A Bears Bear is tired of having his you know what handed to him and he thinks this is the year it changes.  New coach and an influx of WOS players may do the trick.  LCM is definately more competitive.
 10.
After watching the highlights of the McNeese game both Dr. Simmons and Billy Tubbs talked to the interviewer. So, BT is still around Lamar athletics.
And that is a really good thing!

Any one that can confirm? A shot in the dark perhaps?
My guess is that is a bunch of b.s.  How can it even be possible with a 15,000 seat stadium?
I'd prefer we create the old southland:  Northeast La., USL, (to heck with their ULM and ULL nonsense), McNeese, La Tech and we add SE La.  Then Texas schools would be:  SFA, Lamar, SHSU, Southwest Tx State (not the new Tx State), and somebody else
I don't see ULM, ULL & La Tech going backwards and McNeese has shown no interest in moving to FBS so that idea isn't going to happen even if you want it too just like even though I would like for Lamar to go FBS it may not happen.  If they don't it has no bearing on my support and loyalty.  I believe I already addressed the stadium issue.
 12. Coach, how do propose a football schedule for your version of an expanded WAC.  With only 4 games in your division, how many conference games would you play and how would you rotate the schools you would play in the other division?
 13.

It was suggested on the TXST fan board (by a fan who had ESPN contacts tell him something that was already out in the San Antonio media four days after the fact), that Lamar will be presenting at the WAC meetings next week in Dallas... Any one that can confirm? A shot in the dark perhaps?
My guess is that is a bunch of b.s.  How can it even be possible with a 15,000 seat stadium?
There have been two different reports that say the stadium can be expanded up to 28k or 35k.  LU has architectural renderings of an expanded stadium.  Idaho, one of the members of the WAC, plays in an 18k stadium that is a glorified baskeball arena.  LU going FBS may not happen.  I have no idea what the odds would be of them doing it.  I just am confident that Dr. Simmons will not do anything that he knows LU cannot support.  We will just have to wait and see.
 14. UNLV I like that Eastern Division just don't now if NM State, Ark State or North Texas are interested.
 15. Unconfirmed but reported that as many as 10 schools will make a presentation but only 6 identified including LU.  Hasn't reported who the other 4 are.  Agree that LU has to get there name out there and explore their options.  I do not think we would make a presentation if Dr. Simmons didn't think we could pull it off, but maybe it is getting the LU brand out in the marketplace.

How are you and your little man I see you with all the time?
ATBR3  I wondered where you where.  Glad things are better and you are back.  You always did provide good information and opinion, and no one can question you support for LU.  Curious, why did you change your screen name?
 17.
From what I can gather from several message boards Lamar will be talking to the WAC next week along with these schools: UTSA, Texas St., Denver, Seattle and Montana. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
Coach, your investigative skills are good.  Thanks for the info.
 18. Another sellout is absolutely awesome!!!!! :D
 19.
Lazeek....I paid for my BB tickets last week ( for the 25th year)......Watched my 2nd "pick up" game...all the new guys...I predict YOU will not be leaving the games early THIS year because of boredom & frustration!!!!!!  One of the coaches said he can already see the difference in the competition and attitude of the players.  No "BS"ing going on.  Everyone that is on the football bandwagon get back on the BB wagon like it use to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just like Smith Barney, they are going to have to earn it.  I hope that Roc will be worth easing Tubbs into retirement since it was apparent that Tubbs was losing confindence.  Back in the 70's & 80's I was a much bigger LU BB fan than LU football fan.  But that is not the case anymore and I don't see that changing.  I will always support LU athletics and BB no doubt, but from all appearances, we are really doing it right in football (and womens BB).  The jury is still out on mens BB.
 20. Why did Georgia State get a vote?  Didn't they lose to a NAIA school 2 weeks ago?
 21.
It was suggested on the TXST fan board (by a fan who had ESPN contacts tell him something that was already out in the San Antonio media four days after the fact), that Lamar will be presenting at the WAC meetings next week in Dallas... Any one that can confirm? A shot in the dark perhaps?
As I stated before, I think that Lamar should explore.  But we do not need to make a move that we cannot properly support.  That said, I also believe that if it is true, then Dr. Simmons has done his homework and believes that everything is in place.  If you look back over the last 10 years of his presidency, he has not done anything without having lined up everything that was needed to be successful.  He has not overreached on anything.  Looking at what is planned in campus improvement/expansion over the next five years is pretty awesome, $164mil to be exact.  And that would not include additional PU expansion.  He has been an absolute Godsend to LU and I think will go down in the history of Lamar as it's greatest leader.  I will trust his judgement.
 22. I find it very interesting that Bob West has been almost completely (maybe completely) silent about LU football through the first 3 games, especially with the start the team has.  There must be a story behind that for someone who has covered LU extensively in his career.  Does anyone have any insight on why?  I have a few ideas but no insight.  Just find it curious.
 23. 24.
Is UNLV even a Lamar fan? At least my name has a bit more to do with the Lamar Cardinals - afterall, Ray Woodard was a Texas Terror coach! ;)
You know without a doubt he is a cardinal fan!  I do not know why UNLV is his name, maybe he will tell us and maybe he won't.  I wouldn't know him if I bumped into him in the morning at Starbuck's but I agree with his hope that LU would go FBS.  My support and loyalty for the program is not dependent on it going FBS and I will support it.  I believe that all LU fans will pull together and support it the way all great fans support great programs.
