UNLV I don't think we could get 40k yet but the mid 20's would not surprise me for this game if the stadium could hold it. I still want to know what the season ticket sales are for this year. I read on this site or BigRedInsider.com that they have sold out all of the season tickets alloted. But what is that number. I have to believe that it is at least 6k. Maybe more. If it holds 16k and you alot 4k for students and another 500 for band and then that gives you 11.5k for ticket sales. Wish someone who knows would shed some light on this. We will just have to wait and see how the season goes but stadium expansion should be a topic that is looked at and being planned for in the near future if the demand stays where it is right now. Let's hope it does and then some.

Anyone have an update on the possible flyover?

Saw on BigRedInsider.com that LU sold 400 additional season tickets right after the McNeese game. Folk are getting excited. Also saw where John Dennis will be the public address announcer for the football games. Great move on LU's part.

Looks like this will get interesting. If he hadn't gone 65 yds for an almost TD that set up up a TD to get within 3 and make the home crowd real nervous, nobody cares who he is or where he came from. I personally do not know anything about him. I just know that Woodard & his staff have put together a pretty talented and salty group this first year.
Yep, the game is sold out! But, I'm disappointed that they aren't going to have standing room only behind the endzones. I was told they are worried the grass there isn't ready and could get muddy which they don't want. However, I wish they would have standing room only on the concourse at the Montagne Center.
They won't get 20k without letting them stand there. In fact they will only have the 16k capacity of the stadium. The grassy areas are they only "standing room only" areas in the stadium.

Lamar future football schedules?
NorthoftheBorder replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I hope LU will try to get a home & home with both La Tech and ULL (USL) over the next 5-6 yrs. Big home crowds for both and LU would travel well to both. -
Awesome! Got my season tickets so it should be crazy.

GREAT Idea! I hope this catches on like a California wildfire! Hey the whole LU football program catches on fire in the community!

Went to Webber International's football website. They have only been playing football since 2002. Hard to tell what kind of team they have. LOt of kids on the roster and some are fairly big. But being NAIA unless these kids have really developed in their time there you have to wonder about the talent level. They are 2-0 so far. LU must prepare for it like the McNeese game. You always have to be focused and ready. These guys know this is a start up program so they will feel like they have a chance. Need to take it to them so that a good number of the players on the roster gets some PT.
Yes my dad just bought a real nice one there Friday that he wore golfing and to the game Saturday night. He got it at the mid county Academy but I'm sure the Beaumont one has it also. Also cardinallockerroom.com has some nice stuff with the new logos as well.
I went online and looked at the lockerroom. Really nice stuff. Does academy have the same brands and logo's?
-
4 places. 1. Kampus Korner 2. Setzer Center bookstore 3. Any local Academy 4. And the newest way www.cardinalslockerroom.com
I want an official first class looking shirt. Academy would have that?

I would like to buy a nice LU golf shirt to wear to the games and get some LU stadium seats. Wear is the best place to buy official LU gear? I know you guys will know.
I know how much you guys love Terror but he would be the one to ask in this situation...on another note I will say that as a Bearkat I am very concerned about playing Lamar at this point. If they continue to play tough and be that competitive I think you have a very good chance finishing the 4 SLC games 2-2....Congrats on a good showing against a traditional powerhouse this weekend...
Much better post than your "Lamar is a bad school in a dirty town" (my paraphrase) comment of past. Maybe your relative here took you to the woodshed. -

The question for Lamar is what is your schedule in '11? I know you got the FBS game, but you probably want to stray away from sub-Div I or more than one FBS games. The more chances you have at getting 8 or 9 Div I wins, the better. Do that, your "dancing"...
So far no FBS games are scheduled until 2012. Lamar will be going to South Alabama next year and I think they'll be a classified as FCS school. I'm guessing Georgia State will come to Beaumont next but not sure on that. If Lamar wins 5 or 6 games this year then I think winning 7 or 8 games is possible next year. But let's not get carried away yet, Lamar has yet to win a game. Let's just enjoy this season and worry about playoffs and all that next year.
I concur. Was just curious. I am all about 1 game at a time. -

I was at the game and TT's comments are laughable.
If you read, those were not my comments... I stated, "I was asking around for opinion from both sides of the stands. I've read comments such as..." Those were posts on different boards pertaining to the Lamar-McNeese score. None of the remarks were my own. And bigred360 - as much as you'd like to say film was available, it really was not. McNeese could prep off what they know of Todd Whitten's offense and not much else. Everything else is fair game, but again - these were NOT my comments
I think I read somewhere that McNeese runs the same defensive scheme, the 4-2-5 as Lamar. Am I right on that? If so, then they also had an idea about the LU defense. What they didn't know was the caliber of the players Lamar has.

So I'm sure that someone knows the answer to this. I'm not getting the cart ahead of the horse, just want to know if Lamar is eligible and could qualify as an at large pick for the FCS playoffs? No bold predictions. Just curious if they are eligible. -
TT, I was at the game and McNeese ran quite a bit more than 5 plays from their playbook. They didn't try any trick plays, but they were by no means just going through the motions as if this was an intrasquad scrimmage. This may have been a bigger game for LU because it was the first one but I think it was pretty big for the cowboys as well being it was a a big rival in Lamar. I think you may be getting some excuse making for the game being closer than some would have liked.
Just curious why Lamar, a small commuter college in a small city, would want to go DI anyway. I would think the lack of success among the Louisiana schools (Lafayette/Monroe, etc.) would be enough reason to avoid this, at least for right now. It just seems pre-mature to me. LU has a shot at building a top notch I-AA program. Why bite off more than they can chew? Give the fans a chance to be part of a winning tradition (fill the seats, etc.) before you submit an application to what will be a sure blood fest for years to come. If you want to see empty seats at Cardinal Stadium, go DI too fast. We have proven time and again that we are fair-weather fans who flock when things are good and hide when they're not. Give the fans something to flock to for a few years, maybe forever...before jumping into the abyss. Just my two cents! God bless!
I think that Dr. Simmons is working hard to change the commuter school image and I expect that more dorms will be built over the next 5 years. We could see as many as 5k students living on campus over the next 5-10 yrs.

Looks like 5/25/2011 is when will will submit our application.
Is that a date you just pulled out of a thin air? Curious...
Javelina is correct, the regs say that you have to apply by June1 of the year before you start complying with the requirements. TT, you know that it is my hope that LU will go FBS so that was again my hope of what will happen, not inside knowledge of what will happen. it is interesting that I haven't seen anywhere on here about your thoughts on last nights game.
I thought Lamar played a heck of a game on defense. McNeese's recievers found the holes in Lamars secondary that comes with the experience of playing. Lamars D-Line was outstanding in my opinion with the exception of maybe 3-4 plays. The running game needs work but the passing was great (good recievers that know how to work the one on one open field). seemed like they abandoned the running game but I do not blame them cause it was not working and McNeese could not stop the pass. I think Bevil could have ran the ball a few times but I had the luxuary of sitting up in the stands and a birds eye view where he has the split second to decide. Overall this games gives me optamisum for this season. I am going bold and predicting 6 wins for Lamar this year!!
I'll raise you one and go 7!
Some brief thoughts from the sidelines: -Lamar does not have a running game. If they did, they may have won this one. -Lamar had 2 years to prepare for McNeese State, MSU didnt have much on LU, and did NOT do a very good job of adjusting on the run. -McNeese gave Lamar some very good gifts = fumbles. If MCN doesn't fumble, they probably win this game by 2-3 TDs. -Bevil throws a very good ball. -LU was more physical than MCN. -19,000+ in attendance. -Artificial turf was very slick. Will be interesting now to see how LU will matchup with other SLC teams, because other teams will have tape on them. I don't know much about Weber International, but I would think it will be an easy win for Lamar.
Everyone keeps saying LU had 2 years to prepare for McNeese but I believe they really only spent about 3 weeks of game preparation for the cowboys. The gift td quote came right out of the McNeese SID article on the McNeese webpage.
