SFA, Gibbs have eyes on SETX football talent
NorthoftheBorder replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Stealing Ben Wells away was a big coup. Woodard needs to be wary and we may have to steal this guy away from SFA. -
Single Game Tickets on Sale August 1

I think that 1500-2000 LU fans at a minimum will show up. I hope that I am sorely underestimating the number of fans that will show up. Could be the alltime stadium attendance record for McNeese. -
Went by the stadium yesterday evening. Does anyone know what the base material is that they are laying the turf on? It looks like limestone but the is hard to believe with just a thin layer of turf. Seems that is would be very hard field. Maybe it is some kind of rubber material. Anyone have the answer?

Went by and checked out the stadium yesterday evening. Looks really good. Turf is going to be real nice. Stands, concessions, entry gates etc look are a significant upgrade. Scoreboard will be really big but I can't imagine that it is going to be the third largest in the state. Also there appears to be room for the bowl on the south end but it will be really close to the scoreboard and the athletic complex. Looks like all the stadium with be ready but I'm not sure about the Morgan suites. They look like a lot of work yet to be done. Really need for the rain to stop and lots of dry days until Sept 11. Will be awesome to see a full stadium come game time.

But didn't hear that alot last year when we played them. I think I heard him say a couple times "Crap!!! another PNG TD" ;D ;D ;D ;D
Actually he is a Baptist Preacher and good man. I don't think he said what you said. Still seething about the loss 2 years ago I see. -
In both Matt's and the Enterprise mock enrollment numbers really don't change much the enrollment disparity in the current 5-A (new 6-A) which is what I had read is the motivation for considering this change. You still have a big gap between schools who have enrollments in excess of 3,500 students and all the lower enrollment schools. Someone point out what I'm missing. It looks real good for all the other classes.

Shameless UNT Stadium Plug

Is the stadium accross the Hwy the current stadium? if so why did they not expand it? It should have been more cost effective. Also, if so then are they going to demo the old stadium? -

Would have been nice for everything to be ready for the start of fall practice but with about 50 days to go until the first game, are we on track to be complete?
I found this on the internet for you... Field House and Stadium
Thanks. Good pictures. What date was this taken? Looks like a lot of work to do for about 50 days until kickoff.

Persohn verbals to Lamar football
NorthoftheBorder replied to HoopInsider_Cooper's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hopefully he will be 6'5" 290+ by the time he hits LU. Glad to know he is a good kid from a great family. I hope he also will be a beast on the field. -

Good guy. Just won't be the same with out old Dave Hofferth. Anyway, having games to broadcast outway's my preference of the play by play announcer. -
You can add Tyrik Rollison a QB transfer from Auburn to the list.
What is good for Terror is not good for everyone else. Just like the most famous alumni from Dan Rather State, being hypocritcal does not bother him.

Sometimes this board becomes a forum for disgruntled individuals who are naysayers and negative thinkers, always looking to "espouse their superior intellect in all things sport" while really only trying to spew venom on those teams and individuals who they dislike and want to see fail (in a sordid way to feel better about their own self worth). Like anybody hired for any job in any field, the new coach at LU will have to meet the expectations of his superiors (and the fans). I for one like what I have seen so far and am supporting him to be successful and a winner and if he is, all LU fans and alumni will benefit.

BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University football coach Ray Woodard bolstered his offensive line Tuesday with the addition of junior college transfers Billy Dawson and Jacobson Joseph to the Lamar University football team. Dawson (6-3, 310) comes to Lamar from La Mesa, Calif., by way of Grossmont College. He was a two-year starter at center and an all-conference performer, helping the Griffins to an 8-3 record last season and a 27-22 win over El Camino in the U.S. Bank Beach Bowl. "Billy can play either center or guard," commented Woodard, "and he brings lots of experience after starting two years in junior college." Joseph (6-4, 300) played at rival Fullerton Community College and helped the Hornets to a pair of 10-2 seasons. A four-year letterman at offensive tackle from Plantation (Fla.) High School, Joseph helped the Hornets average 398 yards of offense per game and blocked for JUCO All-America running back Kenny Turner. Looks like Woodard is bringing in the beef. I think he probably understands that championships are won on the line. Hopefully these guys are the real deal. "Jacobson is very athletic and has good feet for a player his size," noted Woodard. "He is a good player at a position where good players can be hard to find."
