8.
1. Bryan Barbay - Coldspring (State Title and deep playoff runs make him #1 on list) 2. Larry Neumann--Nederland (longevity counts, but gotta get his team to a state title or others on list will pass him.) 3. Cornel Thompson - WOS (can't discount what he has meant to WOS program through the years) 4. Kenny Harrison--PA Memorial (had PAM on the cusp, will he get them back?) 5. WT Johnston--Newton (2013 could be the year of the Eagle)
who on your list will win a title and move him down the list? ??? ???

 10. Ozen will be the one to watch with Chambers pitching.... 8) 8) 8)
 11. Defensively, Aldine did not present much. For the Dogs, Smith (soph lefty, 2 IP, 1 BB, 1 H, 4 K, 1 R) Stewart (Jr righty, 1IP, 1R), Smith (sr lefty, 2IP, 0BB, 0R, 1K). Very proud Dad sitting in the stands 8) 8) 8) 8) did not stay for the second game.
 12. pitchers need to throw strikes early, stay ahead of the count, avoid BB, no Nolan Ryans on this staff, .....defense will improve knowing a strike will be thrown every pitch. Hitting will improve. Still predict dogs to win district. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
Sanderson has looked extremely sharp in two outings.
 16.

Velocity with out accuracy is. Alot of kids out there can throw hard but cant throw strikes.
College coaches all think they can fix location.  You can't teach 90+ Admin will tell you a story of a kid some years back from SFA I believe.  Kid had one of the best arms you've seen but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.  At the Babe Ruth World Series in a blowout game a pro scout saw the kid warming up and asked if he pitched.  Admin put him in the game and the first pitch was halfway up the backstop at 96 mph.  All of the scouts came running to a kid that couldn't pitch but had an amazing arm.  He signed a pro contract on the spot without any college scholarship offers.  In HS velocity is overratted but as far as scouts go, that is the main thing they look for.
and how many games did he play as pro.. 8)
 17.
I would have agree about not being able to teach velocity. It is something a kid is God given. Yes throwing strikes is important but most college or pro organizations will all tell you they can fix touch and release. I will go with that for the most part. In high school Velocity with ball movement is tough to beat and left or right makes a big difference.
Velocity can be improved/taught. It can be a function of mechanics..... 8)
 18. there seems to be some differences of opiinion.... 8) 8) 8)
 19. Do you think that velocity is overrated?
 20. I love how the thread strayed off topic.
 21. inner squad game yesterday, pitchers fastballs only, way ahead of hitters at this point, cold, wet, and windy at the park. 8) 8)
 22. look like District Champs to me.... 8)

 24.

Congrats to the guys who made it.  I have to question why San Augustine is considered a part of Southeast Texas?  Hubbard is a great player, but there were many impressive 1A athletes who play much closer to the region.  Darrell Lavalais, Kentarious Lavalais, and Austin Edmondson, just to name a few.  Either way, congrats to the guys who made it!
Hull-Daisetta represented Southeast Texas, with being undefeated District Champs and playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs. HD's RB/LB Darrell Lavalais was named MVP of the District. To not reward this young man for representing HD and the Beaumont area, is a shame. Pull out the map, San Augustine is not Southeast Texas Beaumont area. SMH. Be proud of your area and reward this Beaumont area young man. Wow!
QUIT whinning. If you don't like the list....make your own. 8) 8) 8)
