Sounds like he is not the only good player on the team. His supporting cast sounds pretty darn good, too!

'Stangs Stampede...Cards fly South for Winter -
If there was no real slam, then why put the S/WO in your post? That being said, no one said that WOS kids "deserved" it any more than any other schools. Why would you even ask that question? That question makes us feel like you are just trying to start something. We are all just frustrated with powers that be, voters, etc. and are all venting. We are not trying to start something with other schools, regardless of whether the other schools have turf, want turf or deserve turf. We feel that our kids deserve it, we want it, and would like to have it. You not being from WOS, why do you care? I'm not trying to get smart with you, I am just asking...just like you asked a question.

LMAO.... This post needs to be put under the "Headlines" title so everyone can enjoy!

There has never been an over-abundance of players on any of the Mustang teams. People can say all they want about how many students we have in school versus how many other schools have students enrolled, but until you do the ratio of girls vs. boys, the comparisons are legit. It may all be the same, I don't know. I just know that participation ON the field is not (how is it said) "...left to the weak and timid". You have to be tough to play football at WOS. "Play hard or go home."

There were 30 schools across the state of Texas who were proposing improvements to their football stadiums, turf, etc. WOS is the only one that did NOT pass. 2A teams all around the Tyler area, Arp, Tatum....all have turf on their field, but the WINNINGEST PROGRAM OF ALL TIME IN THE STATE OF TEXAS DOES NOT HAVE SUPPORT THAT SEES FIT TO HELP IMPROVE THEIR FACILITIES. The powers that be can talk all they want about the "taxpayers speaking" or however they want to explain it, but the bottom line is THEY didn't want it because they did not promote it. Let's look at the cost again...I heard the original proposal for the turf was around $600,000, not $900,000 as was put in the bond proposal. The presentation was made that it could be paid off in installments, not all at once. Those naysayers who are willing to "forgive" because it's "only for four or five games" aren't looking at the bigger picture of making money with playoff games to help pay for the turf. If someone would do their homework, they would discover that North Shore and Deer Park charge $8,000 per game to rent out their facilities. There are schools that charge less (Dayton), but with turf WE could be making the money by renting our facilities out. Let's keep in mind that Thursday, Friday and Saturday are all available dates during the playoffs of EVERY week. Granted, there is no guarantee that our facilities would be rented every single weekend, but having turf is not the albatross that the "powers that be" make it out to be. The voters may have spoken, but it's the UNSPOKEN words from those in higher authority that were against the turf that ring loud and clear. May our blessed Mustangs continue their dominance in high school football in the state of Texas.

pick who makes it farther into the playoffs

TB: The way it looks now, Coldsprings is scheduled to play WOS next Saturday. I don't know if Cleveland loses tomorrow if it would change who our opponent is or not. -
What is upsetting about the issue is that "people won't vote for athletics" (paraphrased) when it's the FOOTBALL team that has helped the school more than any other organization. The football team brings in more money than other sports, other functions, yet the money goes into a general fund and is budgeted menially to the football program. I understand that there are a lot of powers that be that did not want the new turf because they do not feel that it has anything to do with education. There are a lot of students who have furthered their education through the extra-curricular activities provided by and as a result of the football program at WOS. (Support groups, players, and the funding of other sports in the "general" fund) It's just a shame that when the football program asks for something....they are last on the list or not at all.

Perhaps I stand corrected.

Aggies: I'm thinking that the rule is that a student can only play on one NIGHT in a given week....not one game a week. That is what is legal about it.....
-
There will only be one game today and it's at 5:30. BC did not want to play two games, so the JV and freshmen will be combined.

Well, he originally said he would, then nobody seemed to be able to get in touch with him after that. He never called back. I don't know if he felt that everybody just wanted a piece of him or money or what, but it would be nice to give back. You see athletes do it all the time other places. I dunno..... No hard feelings, though. It's just not for him, I guess.

HALFTIME DRUMOFFS!! KVILLE AND BC!! WACH THESE!!
stangchain replied to lsu_fan_07's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I saw Liberty's drum line this year against K'ville and thought it was too cool. They used trash cans, metal lids, plastic buckets....I thoroughly enjoyed it! I had never seen it at a high school game before. -
Let's see...that makes LCM six points away from being the district winner in 21-3A, right? LOL
-
Just for the record....Bridge City is the one who didn't want to play the freshman game, not WOS. We've been playing a freshman and JV game unless the OTHER school is not wanting to play two. We accomodate them, not the other way around.

WO-S vs. Coldspring/Saturday Nov. 17th 2 PM In Dayton
stangchain replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I, for one, am so excited to be playing in Dayton instead of the long trips to Houston. I don't mind playing in Houston sometimes, but the traffic just slays me. I'd rather play in Conroe or Huntsville. I enjoyed the stadium at Lufkin when we played there a couple of years ago, but going up that way would be a couple of weeks off. I'm not sure why we are playing at 2, though. Is there a game after ours on Saturday? -

We won't know that until we find out who the opponent is and then the HC's flip for home.
