  1. I've always thought they had it set up wrong to start with. They should take the top TWO schools in each district to the Div. 1 bracket and let the school with the smallest enrollement in each district be in the small school bracket. It would make it more even all the way around.
  2. If Lumberton keeps growing, they may get a chance to find out!
  3. 'Cause everyone on these last few threads know that they can CATCH it, right? LOL. Funny to me, too!
  4. Wonder why Coach C didn't call Coach H over at WOS? Maybe the travel time wasn't long enough! I think we'd play ya'll for homecoming again!
  5. FYI-WOS is now the 4th team in the district. Bridge City as of this year has more students than WOS.
  6. Another funny one was right after T came back to WOS. We were playing Jasper. I heard a couple of guys say, "I can't believe this is a Cornel Thompson defense!" (CT had only been back three weeks, just long enough for two a days and one week of school). Someone leaned over and whispered to the guy, "That's his wife sitting right behind you." I saw the guys sit up straight and not say another word the entire game. Funny thing is that CT wasn't the "named defensive coordinator" when he first came back and he had not coached ANY of those kids. . .ever. The seniors were in 9th grade when he left. I think those guys got different seats the next game. Never saw 'em after that!
  7. It was one of the last times that we played AT Lincoln and their announcer was a very colorful man and a bit inebriated, it seemed, as the night wore on. One of us had scored and it was time for the PAT. It was a run play but the announcer said, "And the ball is up and it is NO GOOD". The ball was NEVER kicked. It was a run play all the way. LMAO
  8. Well, let's not call it "hire and fire". . . let's call it "renewing one's contract". If the school baord gets enough complaints from the fan/taxpayers, and there are obvious probs with the win-los ratio, complaints from players/students, immoral character, etc., the school board can certainly recommend to the super that the coach be let go or his contract not be renewed. However, I repeat, that the school board, nor the superintendent has a right to question play-calling by the coaches (In ANY sport). If someone is at a school where that happens, they need to get out QUICK! It's not right and it's not the norm.
  9. A coach doesn't HAVE to explain ANYTHING to the school board on how/why he made a call/decision/etc. If the school board doesn't trust that the coach knows the right thing to do and has a reason for doing it, then they certainly can fire him, but they have NO RIGHT to question his decisions on the field (in HIS CLASSROOM). When the school board has studied the game as much as a coach has, then he may participate in a civil discussion about how the game went, but no right to question his calls. Fire him if you don't like it. Otherwise, leave him alone and let him do his job.
  10. Looks like #72 to me. 'Stang fans should know what tha means. lol
  11. I had a "procedure" done recently. They asked if I wanted to be in twilight or completely OUT. I told them I had no medical expertise whatsoever and I had no interest in assisting them in the procedure. They knocked me out. lol
  12. I've personally heard one coach say, "I don't go out to your job at the plant and tell you which knob to turn, don't you come to my job and tell me what to do. I've gone to school for this and studied this my whole life." I had to laugh at that. . .
  13. I'm pretty sure he was talking about Bay City and NOT Bridge City, since we haven't played the "Bridge" yet. lol
  14. I saw HF play WOS and was impressed with their size and their ability. I also saw Silsbee play PNG and was not impressed with Silsbee. After last year's game with WOS, I expected to see more from Silsbee. I know it's a different year but, still expected more. They looked unorganized. Perhaps they have improved.
  15. With all that being said, who would some of you WANT to ask questions of? And what would they be?
  16. Id be very surprised if that comes about. First, most coaches are already starting to prepare for the next opponent. Second, why would they want to subject themselves to some of the ridicule that some posters have dished out without the coach being present. There have been some positive comments for some coaches, but alot of negative stuff has been said, too.
  17. Dude: What's your problem? It doesn't have anything to do with whether they could make it or not. It has to do with numbers. And we haven't had the numbers (football wise, especially) in many, many years (long before they dropped us to 3A). But what's eatin' you about it?
  18. See, I'm thinkin' that K'ville put so much heart in trying to beat WOS, they may be down a bit when 'Cat meets 'Cat. If O'field puts their heart into beating K'ville, it could go either way. JMO...who knows?
  19. That's just about the funniest thing I've heard lately. Play like "poo poo". ROFLMAO
  20. You're kidding, right? Since when did WOS have enough players to have a 3rd string? Their idea of a third string is moving the offense to the defense and vice-versa. Or just moving players to a completely different position. Not much depth, you know. Just kids playing with lots of heart and want-to-be-in-the-game.
  21. School enrollment isn't always the best test anyway. WOS has played for many, many years with only 25 to 28 players on the team. . . pretty much year in and year out. Too many kids have to go both ways. . . THAT'S one of the biggest reasons we haven't gone deeper in the playoffs lately. . . we just don't have the same numbers as the teams we've faced. Even when we were in 4A. . . still had less than 30 on the team every year.
  22. I could have sworn I just posted on this thread. . . Anyway, my new headline. . . "Garrett duo turns wild. . . . K'ville cats turn mild"
