  1. Of ALL the talent and number of total schools in the Houston and surrounding area, it is always mid blowing why we don't ever represent well in the finals. Last year was decent for once, but good Lord, only two freaking schools from this whole area is bad.
  2. I said it in another thread. This is the weakest 21-5A has been in a lonnnng time. Think about this, Splendora, who has been a weak/non-playoff 4A team, gave many teams in this district fits. Hell, they even beat Dayton. Code Red All America Crosby was putting one of their weakest teams on the field that they have had in Riordon's tenure. Dayton missed the playoffs for the first time in 98 years. Lastly, even Porter had a winning record. I see this district staying this way for a few more years as well. Even the JV games I watched were pretty low level. Dayton and Barber's Hill both have a chance to get a little better, but some of the others will remain pretty bad, or maybe even get worse. Just some bad football in NE Houston right now. It will swing again one day though. At least New Caney ISD is enjoying the downfall right now. We will take it. This year was historically the best year for both of our schools and kids.
  3. This game isn't even fair. PAM talent is overwhelming. Those saying Porter had some D-1 kids need to take a hard look tonight on the other sideline. This is what 21-5A teams use to look like.
  4. Thought this new coach, Rusty Nail fella at Madisonville, was suppose to be their savior. Seems like they may have went backwards a little. Kinda like the Dayton situation.
  5. New Caney will be ready. They have some history they are trying to make, and a couple of playoff wins will make them one of the best teams they have EVER had. Yes, EVER!
  6. Did a little maxpreps research. Forgot they had a D-1 QB named Henderson. Holley's last year at Kpark they threw for 1,646 yards. All of his last three years they rushed for over 2,000. Much of that being from Henderson. This year his QB at Porter has thrown for 2,055. He has rushed for 131. Yes, only 131 total. As a team they have barely clipped the 1,000 yard mark at 1,034. Yes, I agree they ran the ball more and obliviously better at his last school, but they were also a team that could beat you with the pass. They were almost balanced, and that made them good. Again, that is why I don't think Porter can all of a sudden think they have a Henderson type athlete that can run it against PAM. Their strength is throwing the ball and only throwing it. I think it would be silly to all of a sudden think your a running team in the playoffs. Holley is a good coach and he will stick with what got them there. I see them throwing it 90% of their snaps in this one.
  7. ........and you are smoking crack if you think this Porter team is even close to the same caliber team that Kpark team was. He had two back to back Kpark teams that had some major talent on them. He had a big time TE that went to Baylor, I think, that was blowing King off the ball. Just remember he was a beast. There were also a couple of huge lineman beside that TE. Porter just doesn't have those kind of players. I can promise you he is a smart enough coach to know he can't do that with this team. Maybe short passes, screens, and throwing it down the field to #2 at least once a series, but there won't be the tight run stuff. Heck, they don't even have a steady RB. Biggest obstacle for Porter will be slowing down PAM's offense. I think Porter will simply go back to how they were winning earlier in the year and just try to match score for score and then hope for some luck at the end of the game to win it. That was their blueprint against Crosby and Dayton, and they won. They have not done that the last two weeks in their losses.
  8. New Caney by at least 17 guys. They would have to play really bad for this one to even be close.
  9. Porter QB may be tough, but that doesn't mean the rush doesn't bother him. In fact, that seems to be when he is not very good. If he has time, he is as good as any. When pressured he seems to panic and isn't a run threat at all. If PAM can pressure like New Caney did with just their front, then it will be a long night for Porter. If not, then Porter will have a chance to make this a game.
  10. Sweep is far fetched. NC and Crosby should win. Porter will probably get a beat down, and BH will have to have some luck.
  11. Seriously???? Not happy about? They should be ecstatic about everything that is going on. Talk about a hard bunch to please. OMG! I got an idea, go see if you can talk him into running the flexbone this week. Maybe that will make those other changes he made seem a little underwhelming.
  12. Thanks, that was kinda my point. Lastly, if New Caney has the second most talent in this district, and has no D-1 athletes, and beats Crosby and all their D-1 athletes, then I feel certain that should be a credit to coaching.
  13. Move-ins are part of it. Porters also had three or four for once this year. However.....I'd use stud lightly. From what I know, it isn't like these three have any major D-1 offers. It is still with less. Now someone from Cougarland that does have D-1 talent, and always has transfers as well, should know better than to say NC doesn't have less talent. We heard about the excuses for the loss to Porter. Seems that I recall one excuse was that three "D-1" starters didn't play. Well, you won't find ANY D-1 talent between NC and Porter combined. Soooooooo, to say the New Caney staff does more with less than anybody, is pretty spot on.
  14. No turnovers and just a good played game by NC, and they win. They are the best team in the district and do the best job of coaching with less. They find a way to put their players in a position to win, and they will prove that again this week. I'll say about 31-21. I'd say about 10 points better no matter the score.
  15. If they follow New Caney's game plan it will be easy for them. Double #2 for Porter and they are dead on offense. Porter has no run game and a little pressure on their QB kills them. He was sacked about 12 times and most of those weren't even blitz sacks. It is pretty obvious that Porter's QB isn't a run threat, and other receivers won't beat you. If you can run the ball well, you can score enough to win. New Caney staff did a tremendous job of having a simple game plan, and Porter didn't have an answer. They beat Crosby and Dayton by throwing to that other tall receiver, but I didn't see him Friday night against New Caney. Heard he got in trouble, Porter was much better when they had both those tall guys. I'll say BH by 17.
