Schedule so far: Huffman hasn't played a winning program yet. That makes it tough. Needville and Navasota were good tests and they came out on top but we will see. Things seemed to click better after Needville. If I was to rank things based on (a system I just pulled out of thin air) Quality of Performance ("-1" for a loss, "0" being an expected win, "1" being a good win, "2" being a great win) Huffman is at a Grade "2" after 4 games. Stafford (1-4): Athletic and big. Conditioning and execution was the issue with Stafford. Stafford has played two good teams (Calhoun and Bellville) lost to Sealy (2-2) and beat Wharton (Wharton is not good this year). Probably not a great indicator of quality. Needville (2-3): played nasty and was big and fast. The comment I heard from a player was "Stafford was more athletic but Needville played football better." That game was close. Huffman wore them out and played more disciplined. Needville beat a gamey Livingston team (3-2), Lost to a mediocre Navarro team, Lost by 1 point to a good Yoakum (4-0), and beat a bad Sweeny team(1-4). Needville was a step up in competition. Not a dominant performance but got the job done. I would lean towards this being a good not great win. Navasota (2-2): I don't know. I expected a lot more out of Navasota than that. Losing to Mexia may have knocked the wind out of their sails. When their starting QB came in fresh the second half, I thought they could get some momentum. This is a good not great win. LaMarque(0-4): Good teams are supposed to win this game. I'm not deep diving on their schedule, Huffman did score almost double the points they have allowed per game this year. Huffman played clean and methodical. A win. Upcoming Schedule: LCM (0-2): They will probably be 0-3 coming into the game against Huffman. Jasper (4-0) is a tough game for anybody. This should (anything can happen, I know) follow the same pattern as the LaMarque game. Lumberton (1-3): If they shock Livingston, this could be a good win potential for Huffman. Livingston put up some points on Needville and Huffman struggled to do that. Splendora (1-3): Splendora wants this to be a rivalry game, and I get it. They will see Vidor and Livingston before this game and if they can put something together, it is possible this will be the first team Huffman sees with a winning record. Potential to be a good win. Vidor (2-1): Lost to Jasper. Jasper is real good in my opinion. Bay City and Brazosport shouldn't have been as close as they were. This will be the first game with the potential for a great win. Livingston (3-2): Decent chance Livingston and Huffman are playing for the DC this game. They give up some points against middle of the road teams, Huffman hasn't yet. This could be a great win. This sure was a long post to just say "Yeah, Hagar...you right."

No, he isnt little. Not tall but not little.

I’m biased but a smaller, faster, more physical O and D line bullied a larger LaMarque team. Much more aggressive.

This NFHS camera guy is going to drive me nuts.
-
I guess Texan Live isn’t carrying this one?
-
Yes, they put him in. He seemed to move the ball better but by then it was too little too late.
-
Shut em out. 12-0. Navasota couldn’t get the ball into the 20. 3-0
-
Ugh. Refs.

Found an answer. starting QB will be eligible to play the second half.
-
Well, not the most fun half of football. Huffman leads 6-0 on a 4yard run by #11. maybe 3-4 first downs between the teams. fast defenses for both teams. Navasota has some bad penalties, one interception and an ugly punt. Huffman has had a dropped pass that would have been a TD, and is having a tough time running inside with the Navasota D-line. Starting QB for Navasota was ejected last week but he is on the sidelines dressed. (#1, correct?). Is he eligible to play next half?
-
Yeah....what he said.
-
Was hoping Huffman would take this game. Looks like they are not playing this week.
-
Both defenses are playing tough. Huffman offense had a couple false starts and defense had at least 5 offsides that half. still in it but the offense needs to score. Starting RB is out so it’s gonna be tough. And Needville D-Line is big. The HH O-line ain’t backing down but they are giving up a lot of bacon across the line. They gotta keep scrapping.

We were told that pre-sale tickets that were purchased for the Liberty game would be honored.

Huffman Hargrave @ Stafford Saturday at 6pm.

HF QB can throw the ball under pressure. He has seen quite a bit of pressure but he is making things happen. Really cool to see.

Huffman @ Hamshire-Fannett.

BREAKING: UIL ANNOUNCES FALL SPORTS SCHEDULE
texbuzz replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
Just read on Tepper twitter that 81% of Texas high school students are 5A/6A. Didn't realize it was that large of a percentage. Might be way the line was drawn where it was. -

I'm guessing here and not saying i agree. Just trying to guess on why the decision was made. Pure math says that smaller communities would have reduced chances of transmission. Why is the line between 4a/5a? Gotta put it somewhere I guess. I had this conversation with a medical health professional that has worked with local ISD's. My premise was - What happens when a coach hears of a kid that tested positive and squashes it or hides it somehow? The answer was "That is not just a bad idea. That is a career ending decision that carries with it a very high probability of legal consequences both criminal and civil. The coach is putting the future of his career, his family, and possibly his freedom in jeopardy by depending on the ability of a 14-17 year old kid to keep their mouth shut." Once I played it out in my mind, Its going to be hard to imagine a coach doing that. -
It will be interesting to see how different the HH team is this year. More athletic at QB, younger RB, smaller O-line. Lost a lot of experience on D-Line. Praying for a season.

the AAP strongly advocates that all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school. Mental health effects of school closures during COVID-19 The poor effect of school closure during coronavirus epidemics has already been evidenced in some studies carried out during the SARS epidemic. I've got more sources. A lot of sources. The difficult part is finding strong leaders that can stand up to people that push policies formed around emotional factors and start driving policies based on evidence and data. My guess is a late start but I am pushing in the ways that I can for as normal opening as possible.

I have never emailed the UIL. I have emailed state representatives, attorney general, senators. I have always gotten a response. It hasn't always been what I wanted to hear but I never felt like they weren't listening when I sent a reasonable question or concern. Ted Poe was especially responsive to a phone call to his office. I have always tried to bring data and raise concerns with possible solutions. That is quite different than complaining. Worth a shot. If I hear something, I will share it here.
