That's a good article.

Golly gosh gee whiz....I wonder if there was something...anything...that I could point at and say - "This. This is why so many people get irritated by Crosby fan on this forum." I guess we will never know....

Well....I think he can coach a varsity football team. I am a big fan of what I have seen as far as the athletic department. But...this is a different path. TW was an offensive coordinator/assistant coach for some years at Allen until he was promoted to HC in 2004. He was working under his mentor and then took over a position he was groomed to lead. And he had tremendous success. That isn't what he is doing at BH. He is stepping into the shoes of somebody else that he probably has no connection with. (I have no idea). This is a different process. And at this price point, do you think there is enough patience to allow TW to figure it out? If BH goes 2-7 this year (a real possibility) and then 4- 6 next year (not likely) then the shine will have worn off. Pressure may mount to see somebody else come in. Barbers Hill checks the boxes for resources and facilities. No expense has been spared for the AD/Head Coach. A professional coach is in the business of winning. TW earned a spot at this high paying table with his past history of success. He can't eat there forever without picking up the bill with W's. No coach can. Every team has bad breaks. Every team has injuries, blind refs, rainstorms, broken buses, and The Flash just enrolled at your crosstown rival. The Head Coaches employment status will be by Wins and Losses. I am a wuss, I love a good turnaround story. The more success he has then the more great experiences and life lessons those kids have. I wish them all Good Luck and God Bless.

I really hope 17 is not one of those. He looked hurt on the sideline.

I am going. I would imagine this game won't be attended as normal Crosby away games. Non-district, short notice (I had trip to in-laws cancelled....boo...hoo), a bit of a drive. Had tons of room at Jasper visitor side. LCM little smaller than that?

If there was ever a team to face that was an obvious mismatch, then it is this Crosby team. I don't think they are interested in posting huge scores against teams. 2 of the last 3 games looked like blowouts for Crosby and then the other team caught fire and made it a game. I want to say this is part of the plan to get to the playoffs healthy but that does a disservice to the other teams that are fighting to get back into the game. A good running game is going to have some success against the Crosby defense. Offensively, you probably don't have the speed to match. Couple of these kids are really fast. Play disciplined and preventing the home run can keep a team in it. Looking forward to the visit.

Chance Smith seemed to come out of no where last night. Hoping to see more of 88 and 10 as 11 gets more attention. But 9 looked good. Not super fast but caught some decent passes in traffic.

Run defense is not good. BH moved the ball on the ground until Crosby overcommitted and then stung them in the air. Porter ran the ball well too. Just didn't have the pass game to exploit. I don't know how much fixing can be done. Had a sophomore LB back in the game this week. He had at least one big sack and a few brutal hits on the porter QB. Made a difference in the 4th quarter. This defense is young. The only fixing that can be done at this point is reps and more reps.

BH had their QB go down last night. The leaned so heavy on him that if he is significantly hampered, going to be a tough road to get in the playoffs. Sounds familiar to a certain 2016 team in this district....

I think they are going to manage it like a scrimmage. At least I hope. That is a weird setup. The second half team comes in fresh and educated on what is working and what isn't. I mean...its 8th grade so lets not overanalyze. I am glad they found somebody to play.
-
I would quote that post if Microsoft Edge was a browser worth using. Hate it. The 8th grade is playing one middle school the first half and the other middle school the second half.

Katy ISD places head football coach on leave.

Yall are being coy. I ain't going on a google hunt to find out what he did. I am guessing it was of the female persuasion. I could be wrong. -
Well.....Crosby has a Defensive End with 2 felonies, an ex-wife, a tattoo on one arm that says "Kill'em All" and on the other arm it says "Mama's Boy". You probably didn't see him last year because he had to quit the team to take a job as the head toothbrusher at the Anahuac Alligator Farm. He's a good dad and had to make those child support payments. He worked all summer bending manhole covers at his uncle's machine shop in Tarkington. He got fired for picking fights with rottweilers in the shop. He said he was going to open his own septic service company after football season. It just depends on his schedule this spring. He plays soccer too.

" We have added a game for our bye week. Both 7th and 8th A Teams only will be traveling to PNG on next Tuesday. The 7th graders game will start at 5pm and the 8th graders will start 8 minutes after. Here is the address to the stadium.1401 Merriman -- Port Neches, Texas 77651 " This is all the post said. I am really glad the coaches found a game for the kids.

This is probably going to get flamed but....We just found out the Crosby JH is picking up a game with PNG next Tuesday. I know it is 8th grade. I know this forum is about HS ball. That being said.....Anybody know anything about the PNG JH teams? I'm always curious about their style of play (Vidor being my personal favorite), kids standing out, etc....Just a shot in the dark here.

well, my Dayton comment was just fooling around. Now New Caney Porter on the other hand.....

I think the kids and coaches do a great job class wise. Now Dayton on the other hand.....

Good question. Talking to a chapter president before, sometimes they just cant get the bodies for a fifth. I read in an earlier post that this game was played with only 4.

I have been of the opinion also that this is not the medium to judge or accuse the kid. His actions are on video to see and to pretend it didn't happen does nobody any favors. I don't think I have seen anybody post anything threatening or disparaging to that young man personally. There is an abundance of folks taking the high road here. I don't know his name, I don't want to know his name. God bless and good luck to the young man. I can tell you care about this young man and don't want to see him crucified in this public medium. I don't think that is happening. However, the actions the school employees (coaches), administration, and the UIL take in regards to this incident is of interest to me and apparently many others. Many on this board have relationships with these schools in many different ways. This situation could have happened at any school (yes, your school too). Is there a pattern of behavior or communication by the coaches encouraging this behavior? Would a fifth official on the field made an impact on the behavior of the athletes during the game? What action, if any, will the school system take in this situation? I think these are valid questions to discuss and this is the appropriate forum for this discussion. We are not contaminating any UIL or school district decisions by having a civil discussion about a real event.

I pulled up the roster for last year and this year. Maybe #90 the NT started last year? As a sophomore? He only played in 7 games. But really, its just the corner and maybe the NT. The LB, #14, only played 4 games last year. Think he got hurt. I didn't realize they were that inexperienced on defense. Explains how BH was able to draw them in and throw over the top early. Brooks and Perry would have made that much more difficult last year. By coverage or aggressive tackling.

The video doesn't make accusations. This is a recorded witness of a horrible act by one kid. His intentions are obvious and outside the realm of football at any level. This is "Controlled Warfare" just as much as the combat in the middle east can be called "Uncontrolled Football". I understand the metaphor but applying it in this context to rationalize the behavior of kids pushes it too far. I will agree with you on maligning this kid. He is a minor. I hope I am forgiven for all the horrible things I did as a dumb teenager. The player and the team deserve absolutely ZERO retaliation. A good team will surround this young man, let him know that his behavior was out of line, and support him in whatever way they can.

That play wasn't football. That wasn't "physical" play. That is a kid trying to hurt a defenseless person. Watch it again. He takes his time and waits until the QB has no clue and is completely unprepared. Then he unloads on him. This is in complete opposition of any kind of virtue or value that athletic competition provides. These are kids and kids do dumb stuff sometimes. I understand the context. This was an athletic competition between two teams of kids. As much as the coaches and fans talk about these games being a "battle" or a "war", they aren't. That is your baby out there. My baby. Our babies. My son is a physical DE. He plays hard and has been flagged for late hits and a hit out-of-bounds. Always trying to play hard football but sometimes he loses focus. Hence the penalties. I have never doubted he is trying to play football. This hit isn't football. But keep up that "head on a swivel" attitude. Keep rationalizing cowardly behavior. When football is pulled from the parks and schools because it is too dangerous and encourages unsavory behavior, it won't be the kids fault. It will be ours.

Are you speaking of the over the middle hit shown earlier. Do you think the Jasper kid knew, at that moment on the field, that the Silsbee player was hurt that bad?
-
Run defense has been OK. Missing a young MLB that can tackle last night. He should be back soon. They had moments last night that were great. But they don't perform at that level consistently. It's feast or famine with an inexperienced squad.
