Like you have said, and I agree, there are exceptions to everything. But, 90% of the time coaching will prevail as the deciding factor.

WOS still had the same level of talent this year. What happened? Wrong coach, wrong result. Or did the talent stop showing up when Cornel left? Also, Newton, they had pretty good coaches when they were winning State. The Newton faithful are going to be disappointed with what they got now. But they still have the talent! Of course, as always, this is just my opinion!

In bold -- ABSOLUTELY! None of the schools that Surratt, Buchanan and Briles were at ever won a State Championship. If you are not sure what happened after they arrived at their respective schools then I'd do a little research and swing around back to us. Before he arrived, the school Briles was at was pretty bad off. Could even be said it would equate, or even worse, to what's going on at Vidor. So, yes, again, coaching does matter. Now, with that being said, will Vidor get a Championship-type coach? The odds are against it. But, they are out there. That's why a school must keep trying.

My friend, what I smoke is called "reality" at it's finest! If you want some, I'll even pay for it!

Brady was only one of 22 starters on the field. He never played defense. More of a coincidence I would say. Just like the discussion about PNG not winning a Title with that great QB they had a few years back. People here were saying you need more than just one person to win Titles. Anyway, coaches don't usually stay on top for various reasons. Landry didn't. Lombardi didn't.
-
Did Surratt, Buchanan and Briles not win State Championships in their first 7 years? Correct me if I'm wrong.
-
well, this is interesting!

No, you are not going to see a 12 flat runner in track beat a 10 flat runner in the 100. One can only minimally do any coaching there. But, in football I've seen many times where stronger, faster teams lose to better coached teams.

Leave it to me, yes. 7 years you'll know if you have a championship coach or not. Surratt, Buchanan, and Briles all did it in seven years at the school they were at. If people were honest here, everyone knew the former PNG coach, and former Vidor wasn't going to win any championships after 7 years. And we were right. But, that's left up to the individual school districts if they want to waste 24 years.
-
No, PNG gives them 12 years!

There's a lot of speculation here. So, with that being said, could a bad coach play in the big dance with 35 seniors. But, I don't think that's the real point here. How many were starters and how many starters are returning should be the salient question. Same success next year? Who knows. But if he's the coach we think he is then, yes, success will continue. But the fact still remains, he did in 1 year what the previous coach couldn't do in 12.

Have you ever seen less talented football teams win?

Let's see: There was anxiety, foaming at the mouth and down right hyperventilating when the PNG coach left. The chant was: how could they get rid of this excellent coach?! Then, all of a sudden -- it got quite. Even to the point of saying -- Faircloth who? Lumberton was wallowing around in mediocrity until this past year. WOS has for many, many years been known for their football. But what happened this year? On the first two, did the athletes just start showing up when these new coaches did? How about at WOS, did the WOS-type athletes just stop showing up when the new coach did? NO!! It's just more examples what the right, or wrong, coach can do. What does this have to do with Vidor: It's a template of what to do and what not to do. But -- are they paying attention?!
-
I will some-what agree. Any sport, except football, you have to have the talent. Basketball, track, baseball golf, on that, I'll agree.
-
LCM and Lumberton just finish their 2nd year. But, in 24 years the Vidor faithful has not experienced the excitement that PNG just experienced. But the Vidor coach was a good man.

I did hear that Lake's trial was suppose to be in March. But -- when the Judge looked at the evidence he immediately fast tracked the trial to Feburary 1. This had NOTHING to do with Lake or her lawyers. This was purely the Judge!

I think you may be confusing performance with potential ability. Look, there's no doubt that Lumberton kid performed better than Vidor's. By, my point, is is that Vidor ha the same potential ability that the kids at Lumberton is showing. Let me ask you this: Do you honestly think that the genetics of the kids in Lumberton are better than that of the kids in Vidor? You brought up the past 12 years of the Vidor coach. So, let's bring up the prior 12 years before Lumberton's coach got there. Lumberton: 37-78. Needless to say not a stellar record. But what turned it around this time? Coaching!! Hopefully Vidor will pay attention to what has happened to Lumberton, PNG, and on the other side of the coin, WOS! But, that's if they really care. And if they don't, then all bets are off.
