  1. But, don't you think that all depends on who they hire? But, I'll agree with you that if it's agenda driven then you might be right!
  2. What if, just if, they could hire Surratt away from Carthage?! How fast do you think everyone would be saying, "Faircloth who?" Now, before some gets their underwear in a wad and say that this will never happen - I'm just making a point that there are better out there! And who knows -- stranger things have happened!

  4. Scratching my head on the "toxic" situation you mentioned. The man has been their for 12 years. And before that, the coach was there for many years. Maybe, just maybe, this coach finally realized he could not bring PNG to the level they required and it was time to go!
  5. PNG has had an excellent opportunity handed to them. My advise is to take their time. No rush. It should work out for them, unless agendas are involved. Someone has already stated here that they have 2 in mind. But no names were stated. I would have to see who these are before I could make positive or negative comment. Again -- nothing personal, just the facts!
  6. First of all, let me say Doug Ethridge spanked Les Koenning in the Astrodome during a playoff run. Another fact! Now, With Newton and Barbay: There are no guarantees. True I would have missed that one. But, that's like 1% of the total. The point is: Do you let a coach stay there 30 years with the "hope" that he may start winning a state title? Again, not me. I miss a few along the way. But that percentage is small. Why? Because there are not that many state championship-type coaches out there. Now Phil Danaher is an interesting situation: I'm pretty sure he ran a respectable program through the years. But -- one has to wonder why he couldn't bring it to the next level. My thought, he's not one of the 10% out there that could. But if the taxpayers, fan base and administration was happy going a couple of rounds in the playoffs and then going home, well, more power to them! Again, that's where they set the bar! Now a little speculation and a fact: Concerning Faircloth: Does anyone think that if he took over at Carthage right now that within 7 years he could win a State Title and replicate what Surratt has done? That's the speculation part. Now the fact: Before Surratt got there -- no one did!! Was he just so lucky that the talent only showed up at Carthage when he did??!! I don't think any one here can honestly believe that!!
  7. From the article: "Former Trump aide Sam Nunberg believes that President Joe Biden essentially gave Vladimir Putin the green light to invade Ukraine because the Ukrainian energy company Burisma stopped bribing him after the 2016 election of former President Donald Trump." [Hidden Content]

  10. That was! But it didn’t work out! Doesn’t mean, though, going outside the system is/was wrong!
  11. I've seen PNG, under Doug Ethridge, beat teams that were more talented, physically and speed wise than PNG. So, yes, it's possible. Look, you are right, 90% of the coaches can't hang in State Championship-type category. But, does that mean you stop looking? If i'm going to pay a coach big bucks then much is expected!
  12. 12 years and no State Championships. Facts don't care about your feelings! But, I'll say this, he's on par with coaches that are just good coaches. As of now, he's not in the category of State Championship-type coach.
  13. So, your opinion: Do you think 12 years is long enough?
  14. Let me get this straight: A coaches goal is the State Title. So this is what they expect from themselves. But, then, are you telling us that WE should't expect the same from them what they expect from themselves?! Interesting!!
  15. Depends on where you put the measuring stick! If one puts the bar low then every coach is just peachy creamy!
  16. We might want to recognize democrat AOC for advancing man's knowledge due to fact that she wants to allocate federal grant moneys to Boston University to study why meteors always land in craters!
  17. Ask any coach when the season starts and see what THEIR goals are. Their goal is to win District then win the State Title. So, yes, there success is based on winning a State Title. What, you feel that paying a HC big sums of money just to have a descent football team is OK for 20-25 years or longer? Again, it all depends where the bar is set.
  18. Seriously, his predecessor was Burnett. Even drunk I don't think I would have said that! LOL! Oh, BTW, yes, PNG spent too much money on the stadium. Hasn't made them a better football team, has it? Again, no State Titles! Well, as long as it looks good, I guess! Oh, and BTW part 2: You may be right about not getting three coaches you mentioned. BUT -- these three were assistant coaches at one time. When an assistant is hired you have a 50-50 chance. That's why if it doesn't work out in a reasonable time then you need to look elsewhere. Just because you failed with one doesn't mean you stop looking. Now, that reasonable time is subjective to what the taxpayers and administration will accept. 12 years is long enough to realize that in the present situation PNG wasn't going to win a State Title. Maybe 12 years is PNG's measuring tape. Personally, I think you can recognize it's not going to happen around year 7 or 8. But, as people know here, my bar is a little higher than most.
  19. Didn't say that! I was talking purely about coaching ability. Doug Ethridge played in 2 State Titles and won 1 at Hobbs, NM. Played in 2 at PNG and won one.
  20. 2nd one first: If you have been paying attention, I have said numerous times that nothing is personal. I figured, just like with Nederland, that after a while PNG wasn't going to win a State Title under the present situation. Now after 12 years, it appears others have finally realized this also! 1st: You don't think that Surratt, Buchanan at Aldo, or Briles could have done the same thing? You know, actual state championship-type coaches!
  21. Surratt has 8 State Titles Joseph has 5 State Titles Nothing is in a straight line. Can't win them every year. BUT -- to say these coaches had nothing to do with their schools winning a State Title is a little silly. And since they didn't win it this year, and to then try and say, "see, it's not the coaching" is even more sillier! Oh, BTW, Carthage never won a State Title before Surratt got there. By the standards a lot here believe, this was just a "coincidence!"
  22. No, you need to read what you wrote! You blamed everything but the coaching!
  23. So -- although Doug Ethridge played in 4 State Championships and won 2 -- he had nothing to do with PNG's success?!
  24. As of this writing -- President Trump is "158-2" when he has endorsed a candidate. Sounds like the hate for Trump is generated by the news media and a few here!
