Oh, I agree, there are different influences that can be a distraction. But, one must remember, and you must agree -- winning solves a lot of problems!

I would venture to say you put some of the other local coaches in charge of the Mustangs the last three years and they would not be shooting for a 3-peat. I doubt the 'Stangs would have been in the first one! IMHO! BTW: Coaches have a bunch of witty sayings. Cornel would be selling himself short if he actually believed he had just a little to do with their success.

No! LOL! Like I said, would be interesting to think about. But, a Title is not worth that type money. Other things are more important.

Someone could have said the same thing about Stephenville before he arrived there! BTW: Why do you think the kids at Scarbrough are any different than the kids at Stepenville when Briles arrived there?

One could argue none of the Beaumont schools ever had the right coach to win a Title.

I've had a coach tell me this and he has never won a Title. I've had a coach tell me you can win with anything and he has 2 Titles. So...

The question WASN'T whether they would go. The question was would any on them win at these places. And the answer is yes! What in their past performances would have anyone think otherwise?

Put Briles in any one of those and YES he could!

Why? You have one of the best coaches in the area!

What, between 1993 and 1999, did Stephenville all of a sudden "found" talent? And just so happened to stop the year Briles left? It took Briles 6 years to get it going. The reason why it took 6 years is because the talent, for the most part, wasn't there to win a Title. That's why it took him 6 year to create the talent. Again -- the mark of a great coach.

Well, they got better because of the coaching. Look, it took Westerberg 5 years before he had a Title at the previous school. He's only been at BH for 2. Give the man a chance. There's no reason at this point to say he can't bring BH a Title.

There's another way of looking at it: These schools that continue to win Titles either promote from withing to continue their run. OR -- these schools make it a point to find the best candidate in the state that would/should allow them to continue their Title runs. I bet they do not roll the dice on someone that never has coached in Title games or has won one, or more, either as an assistant or HC. To me, it's not rocket science on picking a HC. I would pick the proven commodity. I'll let the other schools roll the dice on the unknown!
