Chuck was one of the nicest guys that anyone could have ever met ! Never heard a negative word out of his mouth. He coached for CRUSH for several years, starting out with John Collinis in 12U, I believe, and then coaching his own CRUSH team in 14U before combining again with John Collins. He then moved up to 18U working with James Birdwell. Chuck was one of a kind. I don't believe I've ever heard a bad word about Chuck. And he loved the kids he coached as much as anyone. He was always there to lend a helping hand when needed and was never to busy to work with a kid. Chuck will be truly missed by all in the Crush Organization and around LCM ! My thoughts and prayers go out to Chelsea, Jessica and their Mom as they deal with this terrible tragidy.

Whatever age you are on Jan 1 is your playing age for that year.
It sounds like your all showing a bad example for the kids by arguing. I just hope your not doing this in front of the girls.
I don't think its arguing.... I really thought we were just stating our opinions. Right or wrong its just OUR opinions.
Shake and bake thanks for the info and these guys really do seem like nice guys! I think it's great that they continue to coach after their daughters have moved on but I'm sure they got involved in softball because they had a daughter that played so I just don't agree with the fact that all these teams are complaining because other teams are forming. Now I do think there are alot of select teams out there but the thing is not all of them have teams for the younger girls. GT Shockers is just now forming a 10U team and I know the coach that will be coaching those girls and alot of people don't like her but as far as I'm concerned she is a great coach. My daughter had her as a coach and she loved her. So all I am saying if all these organizations had teams for all age groups then there probably wouldn't be as many teams out there.
Several of these organizations do have different age groups. Crush has teams in 5 different age groups as well as Shockers and I also think Young Guns have several age groups as well.

Bottom line... PLAYERS and their PARENTS need to got to each teams tryouts, that they are interested in, and see which team fits their own Goals for softball. All kids should have a place to play ball if they want to. Some may want to play to get a college education, some just for fun, others may play just to get better for High School. Either way they should all have the right and a place to play. I just wonder what is happening to all the Leagues in the area, with all the "A" Ball teams that have formed over the past few years?
These are just a few questions I have, please feel free to answer and/or add your own questions. 1) What's with all the tryout dates BEFORE nationals? To each there own on this. Probably is better to wait just to be able to get some faces that have been to Nationals. But, if no teams are going to Nationals in the area and area players are what you are loking for....go for it 2) What's with the announcement of "new" teams without coaches names (whats the big secret)? I agree here. Coaches need to give their names 3) Why would one "think" just because a coach doesnt have a kid playing, means "NO DADDY BALL"? TRUE.... but most coaches have their "Favorites" 4) Ive been doing this for a while now. Ive had many discussions with others who have been around for a while. It is never clear as to why we have these same questions year in and year out. Same questions and same comments year end and year out. Always happens about this time every year 5) Same as #4 as far as been around for a while and asking SAME ole questions....but why arent we doing more to consolidate the talent in the GT area...rather than continue to dilute it with "friends", "daddy's" "high school teams" etc? Agree here to some extent... but it will take everyone to change this and I don't see it happening anytime soon.... Right or Wrong ?? I really don't know Here ya go CRUSHCOACH, you said you were bored....lets get it going.
If you knew anything about us (GT Shockers) you would see we have a limited number of teams (currently 2).....because we don't want or need anymore....we consider ONLY teams...players...or coaches that come to us....we are not about 2-3-4 teams in the same age divisions.....to each their own. Sorry couldn't resist..... ;) ;D
John...John...John....you know me better than that. ONE first yr 10U team ONE first yr 12U team ONE second yr 12U team ONE first yr 14U team And how many 18U GOLD did y'all have at one time...let's see... Gold Harrell Gold Birdwell Gold Brown And if the arguement is Birdwell wasn't Gold when y'all were....its still at least one to many ribbons being handed out..... Nevermind....I understand....y'all were going for the "fools gold" ..."white gold"...."10K Gold".....etc....lol.
Learned from our mistakes ! Now only one Gold team.....and a 18U. Just poking fun, its getting kinda boring around here !
i'm left to root for the sec which has worked out well lately. my hogs lost too much pitching to injuries and couldn't hit out of a wet paper bag for parts of the season. college ball just blows away pro ball. rooting for the stros could be part of that. i can't believe thay don't have more of the regional games on tv. all i could find that first weekend was [glow=red,2,300]college softball. i can't stomach that....all of those running swings in those little league ballparks.[/glow]
Don't knock it till you try it ! One of the best sports there is ! ;) -
I agree if he goes to another team thats fine. Just don't make a big production out of it and no one will say a word. Do the "Lebron thing" and your asking for trouble.
