Bridge City 55 Vidor 49/FINAL

Revision. That was some second half shooting. -

That's some shooting for the Cards in an away game. BC could win a first round playoff game shooting like that. The game next Friday in Silsbee should be interesting. A blowout would surprise me almost as much as an upset. -

See? I told you it wouldn’t be 40. -

Lumberton is playing well. They won’t let the tigers get into any kind of rhythm. -

I guess that the word didn’t get out. There are 10 people in the home stands. -

It depends on how much the end of the bench plays. But at least 30. -
Nope. Not from me. I have to say though that Silsbee's defensive intensity was off the charts. Open looks at the 3pt line for the Pirates were few and far between.
-
And just like that it’s a 30 point lead.
-
Looks like the comfortable 20+ pt win.

This is the most interesting game so far in 18-4A. It could be a comfortable 20+ point win for the Tigers or it could be another 4 point game like in Bridge City or even an upset. Will we see the Pirate team that beat LCM by 53 or the Pirate team that beat Jasper by only 7? Matchups are funny things.

Lumberton seems to have played well. It'll be closer in the pit.... I mean, at Lumberton. Am I hinting at a bond issue? Mmmmm.... Yes! Yes I am.

Vidor 53 West Orange-Stark 54/FINAL

And let's give the Mustangs the credit they deserve. They played a great game against a ranked foe. And that was clutch shooting as well. EC does have a great and roomy gym. But Is there seating behind the goals like at the G&G Enterprises Arena? -

It's the arena. I'm telling you. It's becoming the best home court advantage in the district. Vidor would have made one of those free throws in a gym with a wall behind the backboard. Discomfort and disorientation. The rest of the district teams have gyms and nothing more. They're all more or less comfortable venues except for Lumberton which plays in a hole. -
Silsbee 55 Bridge City 51/FINAL

If you mean the Cards were playing pretty much up to their potential, even inspired I would say, and the Tigers were struggling then yeah, BC out played Silsbee. But even though they struggled the Tigers came back from an 8 point deficit to win by 4. The Cards were tenacious, nothing was easy for Silsbee. Maxpreps has the BC rooster messed up so I don't know his name, but the point guard, No. 5, is a gem! If he's not there it's an easy 20 point win for Silsbee. Almost single handedly he took the Tigers out of their comfort zone and forced extensive adjustments. His cool move was to turn his back on the defender and give ground luling the defender to sleep and then turn and rapidly accelerate past. Sweet. -

The Tigers have very little offense tonight. And the defense is just so-so. Bridge City has an answer for everything they try on both ends. -

One thing you could do is look at what they went on to do in college and in the pros. One name comes to mind. I can tell you who was perhaps the biggest might have been and I think it's easy.... BB Davis. I watched him outplay Karl Malone on a couple of occasions, especially that particular game at the Civic Center when we all could have jumped over the roof. But for various reasons it was not to be. As an aside, Davis once caused me a bit of embarrassment at a business dinner in Marietta, Georgia. Alma maters came up and in conversation and I mentioned that I'm a Lamar grad. It turned out I was dining with a Michigan State grad. "Lamar? That's familiar..... Sure, I know Lamar! We played you guys back in......" And yes, he remembered the Dick Enberg interview. Those were the days though, weren't they? It was heady stuff, Sweet 16, top 20 ranking, defeated the reigning NCAA champion Villanova at the inaugural game of the then Montagne Center. We thought the sky was the limit. And now the arena's name's been sold to a little local credit union. I guess that too was not to be.

Not even an honorable mention for McCain?
