Having watched Randall's games against Krum and Canyon I would rate them about the same as Washington. The Eagles, who we beat by 9, don't have anybody quite like Randall's scorer K.J. Thomas and the Raiders don't have anybody at all like McDermott. Thomas is a great scorer and good defender. McDermott was all over the place basically affecting most possessions on both ends. I think they equal out with the supporting casts about equivalent. So all things being equal it should be about a 9 or 10 point Tiger win. And I'm not counting on the Tigers shooting better from the line. I expect it will be about the same.

Silsbee 79 Houston Washington 70/FINAL

They announced and all tournament team consisting of three players from the winning and second place teams. For Silsbee it was Harris, Miller and Bottley. For Washington it was McDermott, Carter and one whose name I didn't catch, probably Johnson. -

Kind of missed in the elation is a hint of something else, maybe not sadness but poignancy. I have a lot of respect for this Eagles team. And this epic three year rivalry has now come to an end. Okay. I'm over it now. ON TO SAN ANTONIO!!!! -

All top ranked, all strong. Should be a great show. Some double header, Silsbee then United! -

To me the final score was actually 79-68. That tech was completely unnecessary and ridiculously picky. -

I thought the Eagles were a little better but I was wrong. The Tigers are the better team and will do better in San Antionio than Wash would have. I think they can beat FF. -

This is a great game. One thing for sure Silsbee could stand the loss of any one of its key players more than BTW could stand losing big No. 11. He really is something. -

The one to ask would be Wheatley’s coach. He’s seen both up close. -

Both teams are improved since last year and I think it will end up pretty much like last year. Washington by 8. Something like 78-70. -

It’s a tall order. BTW has so many weapons. They’ll have to be super sharp. Limit the wasted possessions. -

Wheatley came within 12 in a comeback in their last meeting with Wash. Sp the Tigers handled a good team that was playing very hard. -

8 interesting games in 4A. I think that only Washington and FF are prohibitive favorites. I would call the Carter game so but who knows about this Anna team. They've beaten two really good teams. I think they faced sterner competition to get to this point than any other semifinalist. Good luck Tigers!!! Good luck to all the area teams! We're well represented in Region III. -

I don’t know but something happened. They went from splitting with Wash and having a share of the district to not even making the playoffs. And they gave the Tigers a great game in the semi. Different bounce of the ball and they’re in San Antonio. Things change fast in 21-4A. -

Well! We'd be more than happy to have Washington move up to 5A and BU can play them to their hearts content! And while they're at it HISD could combine Yates, Wheatley and Furr into one fair sized 6A school! 21-4A is too big anyway. -

If Wheatley can engineer a late season trade and get McDermott for an undisclosed number of draft picks then maybe.. -

I think the scare that the Longhorns gave Silsbee last night was actually a good thing. The Tigers built a lead (despite playing really wonky) and then got complacent. The Longhorns went on a tear and close to within 5. It was a trip. Tiger fans were thinking, "What the heck!" The Tigers themselves may have been thinking, "What the heck!" And the net result is that Silsbee should now have no illusions now about cruising easily to a finals rematch with Washington. Wheatley is not going to surprise them as Hamshire Fannett almost did. Since Wheatley and Hamshire Fannett are practically interchangeable I say Silsbee by 14. -

True. I really thought we might be seeing an upset coming. But then it was like the Tigers said, "Okay, enough's enough." And the Longhorns replied, "Right. Never mind." It felt that way in the arena too. A kind of communal agreement on both sides, "Way to go Horns! You pulled to within 5. Great game." And while there was still over 4 minutes to play. Kind of anticlimactic.
