Hardin-Jefferson 37 West Orange-Stark 53/FINAL
JimThorpe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
WOS may have been the toughest 4th place team in 4A. -
Silsbee thinks that they are playing Orangefield. Somebody needs to tell them they are playing the best team I’m the state and they need to shorten the game as much as possible. It really it was too late already 2 minutes into the second period. So never mind.
-
Silsbee won’t slow down and run an offense. Throwing away whatever change they have.
-
I think y’all should all go to the boy’s game. Those Mustangs can be dangerous. We Tiger fans will keep you posted on what’s happening at the Montagne.
-
I agree that WOS has the manpower to be in this game and even win it. But do they have the composure, the mental toughness? At some point HJ will make a run. When that happens will WOS rise to the occasion or will they fall apart? It could go either way. The Mustangs could win a close game or lose by 25.
-
Ouch. For one game? Not a subscription? I wonder about the reception in the Montange. Got to go to the girls game. If the Tigers upset HJ and we miss it that would be terrible. And if Livingston upsets the Tigers and we see it that would be terrible! Plus I’d like to see the Lady Hawks anyway.
-
Well, we won't be there. They scheduled the girls game between Silsbee and HJ for Monday. That's a little more..... desperate? than this one. Will this game be streamed somewhere?

Area - LC-M vs. Washington/LCM WINS!!
JimThorpe replied to Bobcat1's topic in High School Girls Basketball
So Washington made a run. 21 points in the 4th. We left at half. I figured the Bears had it well in hand after a somewhat shaky start. Good luck with Hargrave. You've got a shot at making it to Region. Maybe the Tigers will see you there. But I doubt it. We're afloat in an inflatable raft in the open sea and that prehistoric megalodon shark of 4A basketball team out of Sour Lake is closing in. Did you know it swallowed Orangefield whole, in one gulp, without even chewing? -
HJ VS NAVASOTA - HJ WINS BIG!
JimThorpe replied to HawkPride4life's topic in High School Girls Basketball
Some of these spreads are wild. It was really wild in the first round. But a couple of 4th place teams won their first round and several did pretty well. -
No it wasn't. But your line with a big blank spot below was really funny. I'm home now in front of my computer and I can see the clip and it's perfect. But I think the way I saw in on my phone may be even more ominous. By the way, how did Livingston do against Brazosport?

Area - Silsbee vs. Worthing - Silsbee wins!
JimThorpe replied to Bobcat1's topic in High School Girls Basketball
That what we’re hoping for. I’d rather go out to the best team in the state. Who knows, we might give them a good game. -
It's a tough grind for HJ. WOS certainly isn't a pushover if they keep their heads in the game. Witness the 3 point game against Silsbee. Yates lost to Booker T by only 8 in their last meeting. But I still think HJ will meet Silsbee in the 3rd round.
-
Apparently Livingston has a warmup game Friday against 12th ranked Brazosport. Which seems a little weird but it's interesting. Is Brazosport like Silsbee at all?
-
Not a lot to talk about. The Tigers had a couple of 35 point quarters.
-
You make a very strong case. You'll be even less pleased with the MaxPrep ranking which has them at No. 6. They have La Vega at No. 2.
-
District 231. Yates2. Washington3. Furr4. Kashmere I don't think that TABC was paying close enough attention to 23 either. Booker T went out in the first round last year but they were building. And Kashmere is out of the picture.

Lady Tigers take first round game over Lady Panthers. Game was played in Silsbee.

Silsbee 91 Little Cypress-Mauriceville 54/FINAL

No. In fact they could have been a little more deliberate on offense. The Tigers got them running in the 3rd and it soon got out of hand. -

LCM got several nice dunks in transition. Which is fun but really just sauce for the goose for the Tigers. Anything that gets them running is fine with us. There was one really funny moment. The Bears got a defensive rebound and Coach Jeffcoat immediately signaled timeout. But the play was developing into an easy fast break for LCM. He realized it a split second later. Too late! The ref saw it and called time. Everybody got a chuck out of that one, even he was laughing, even the LCM fans were laughing. -

91 - 54 final Troy scored! Nice little 10 footer in the center of the lane. Nothing but net. -

Now that the national organization of high school ball has endorsed a 35 second shot clock for the 22/23 season we're going to see more states adopt it. Texas, being a big and important public school basketball state will come under a lot of pressure from inside and outside. I think it's inevitable certainly by the end of the decade. I say go ahead and do it now. Start a pilot with 6A district and post season play and then let it filter down. I still say that the kids will love it, the parents and fans will love it and eventually even the coaches will love it. The referees won't love it but they'll adapt. The staff running the clock won't love it but they'll adapt as well. I think a shot clock adds an interesting level of complexity to the game that high school kids will enjoy. And really, 35 seconds is am eternity for some schools. Of course it's easy for me to say being a Silsbee fan. The Tigers get antsy if they don't get a shot off before 15 seconds - 3 to get it down the court and 10 or 12 to find somebody open.
