This game reminds me of another game. Hmmm. When was that?

An occasional 3 pointer going in would have made a WORLD of difference. The young Tigers confidence level would have been much higher. At the beginning of the second they looked as down as I've seen them in the playoffs. They were psyched out. They battled back and it was a contest right up to the last couple of minutes. They had looks that were just about as open as in the Connally game but nothing fell. Was it the open gym? Whatever. What we saw was the best possible scenario for Huff and I think the Tigers being ice cold is the only way the Falcons win.

That sounds reasonable. Boerne is a slightly better version of Huffman. And I think the winner will play the FF/Argyle winner a good game.

Faith Family will reload every year. If they aren't top notch it's only because the coach didn't get the chemistry right. Talent and size won't be an issue.

Silsbee cleared the way for Huff by taking out Yates. A championship is beyond them but winning the semi-final is a definite possibility due to the seeding. Whatever they're going to do they better do it now because Harvey is a senior. They wouldn't have won this game without him at the helm. Every Falcon played like they knew he was on that court and he was. He never sat down. He couldn't. Now if they want to advance again he's going to have to play the game of his life. On paper Boerne is a kind of copy of Huff but a little bigger and a little better. I think he and they have it in them. We'll see.

37 33 The Tigers have kept themselves in it. They have a shot. Yes, it was a cheap foul. And yes, Harvey is all that. He is the difference.

No. 5 Boerne awaits our winner. I think that either of our teams can be competitive.

Connally has better players than Carthage. Silsbee played a better game against a better opponent on Tuesday.

I get it now! The LaPorte high website directs you to the Same LaPorte ticket site that Silsbee ISD directs you too. But they have a different passcode! The only thing you did different than me was use the Huff password instead of the Tiger password! I just did what you did checked it out 5 seconds ago and apparently tickets are still available under the Huffman password. Who knows for sure but if there's some kind of distancing thing still in effect I bet they'll try to direct you to the Huffman side.

I guess you're right. I confess I never thought about it that way but it was the "state" semifinal.

If the Tigers win we do still get to call it "going to State" right?

This is good for me either way. It's close enough and convenient enough that even if the Tigers loose I'll go on Tuesday. If the Falcons win I'll adopt them and be a Region III fan. Then I'll spend the night with the grandkids in Katy and go shopping on Wednesday.

I think it will be Argyle, Boerne, Faith Family and Silsbee seeded in that order. Which means we would get Argyle in the semi and Faith in the final. And if by some miracle the unranked Tigers claw out a championship they will have beaten the top three ranked teams almost one after another to win it. And it would be the biggest story in the history of Texas high school basketball. And a movie would be made. And Denzel Washington will play Coach Sig (he has experience in that kind of role). And I think Shan Gilder should play himself. But would it be a miracle? Not if the ranking means anything. Why couldn't it happen? The Tiger win over the Lions wasn't exactly comfortable but it was a convincing 15 point victory. And the No. 2 team is supposed to be better than the No. 3 team right? So beating Argyle certainly isn't any kind of insurmountable thing. And the No. 2 team shouldn't be that far behind the No. 1 right? So a Silsbee win against Faith would be only a mild upset. In conclusion don't think it's premature to start thinking of a name for that movie.

True. And Raiders and Lumberjacks (axes? OUCH). And if we dare, Indians and Highlanders and Farmers and Punchers and even Plowboys. One that could be even more scary than a Tiger is the Itasca Wampus Cat. The illusive and ever deadly wampus cat stalks the prairies south of the Metroplex. The Falcons have us in one attribute. They are the fastest animal. 240mph in a dive. So I'm pretty sure that keeping them in level flight is a key component Coach Sig's game plan.

True. That's why the Wharton game was a little closer. It was Tigers vs. Tigers. I was just thinking, humans are the most dangerous mammals by far. Humans kill more mammals than all the other mammals put together. Humans even kill more humans than all the other mammals put together. It's interesting that none of our high schools have the human as a mascot. The Calamityville High Humans. Scary.

And I'll go further. If Shan Gilder gets another dunk the Tigers will definitely win the game.

Silsbee is playing well right now, clearly above their "unranked" status. The Tigers played better than Huffman last night. Connolly, ranked 22, is at least a little better team than unranked Carthage. Witness Connally's 17 pt. win over 14th ranked Austin LBJ. Silsbee had a rough first half but went in with a lead and controlled the game in the second half comfortably enough empty the bench at the 2 min mark. On the other hand Huffman went in trailing by 1. They fought back into the lead in the 3rd but it was never comfortable and at the 2 min mark the game was still in question. The thing that gives me pause is Huffman's 34 point blowout of Lumberton, doubling the Raiders score. There were no third round blowouts quite like that, even among the top 5 against unranked opponents.

Go to the Huff Maxpreps page. Tons of video. Probably have tonight's highlights by noon tomorrow. Check out the Lumberton game. It was scary. Lumberton beat us in our gym back in Feb. Well, Huff handled the Raiders with apparent ease. Lumberton was never in the game. That's Huff at their best. Tonight was Huff at their worst. If they play us like they did Carthage we're headed to state. Clearly they were looking ahead to the Region final.

You called it! No swag! Now, since you're our unquestioned authority on swag. How about Huffman? Any swag there?

I don't know they seemed uncharacteristically ragged in the first half and went in trailing. Everybody knew what was going to happen in the end. Huffman would take the lead back and keep it. But the game was still in question right up to the last 2 minutes. Being the last ranked team in the Region Huffman has to be considered the favorite. But go to Silsbee's Maxpreps page and check out the highlights of the Yates game. Silsbee took down the 2nd ranked team by 15 points scoring 99. The Falcons haven't scored quite that many points all year against anybody. I'd say the Tigers have a good chance.

And the rebounding was much better. Maybe that's the secret - I quit worrying about it and then it wasn't so bad. In fact WE were getting the put backs.
