  1. It's always inappropriate to celebrate an opponents injury. I don't excuse such behavior but I do understand it. if I was a junior or senior at WOS I would HATE Silsbee High School. And the reason has nothing to do with basketball.
  2. Hutchins is a decent team. We beat them by only 10. Goes to show just what a cat fight 4A is going to be. Who knows which other three teams will end up in San Antonio. Sadly, we do know it won't be Carter or Hutchins. We know that because they are in the same region with that 4th team that will be in San Antonio.
  3. The good news is that no matter how this season turns out for Silsbee there is no possibility that anything that happens can be as bad as that.
  4. I was at that game. It was weird. It was a good game though. Wasn't that the year of The Great Disappointment?
  5. Weird. Is it some kind of matchup thing?
  6. Was he back for the Orangefield game? This make the whole thing more interesting. How tall? I wasn't planning on going to the game but now....
  7. So we're looking at something like 105 to 102? Just kidding. It's clear that the Tigers' district strategy is to simply to outscore their opponents. And the key is three point efficiency. If they can lure the Mustangs into running up and down, which is always a temptation, and can hit their 3's then the Tigers will score in triple figures. Now, can the Mustangs hang with that? Factor in also that since this is an important away game and there probably won't be anything like a 30 point separation the Tigers likely play only the first 8 or 9 and they'll maintain a higher intensity longer than against Lumberton or Bridge City. Except for only a small number of possessions the Tigers simply refused to let Lumberton run it's offence. It's not that Silsbee shut the Raiders down exactly. It's rather that most times down the Tigers either quickly generated a turnover or gave Lumberton a quick shot, a good number of which they made. After all, scoring 63 is not bad. But scoring 94 in 3 quarters is at another level. I can see a game like Silsbee/Orangefield where the Bobcats had plenty of opportunities and scored plenty but were simply outscored. Or not.
  8. Will the string of 100+ scores in district play be broken? It's not important, just a statistic, but a fun one.
  9. So far this season in district play Silsbee has scored 101, 104 and 123. Seems a little like the old days.
  10. I think that Silsbee is better than Carter. I base that on the 24-14 4th quarter and previous records. Next time the Tigers will come all the way back and win. Of course there’s not going to be a next time this year so it’s a moot question. Carter won’t make it to SA. The only thing that can stop FF this year is the virus. It’s been this way for several years. Nobody was going to beat Yates, nobody was going to beat Argyle and now nobody is going to beat Faith Family. The virus did beat Yates, it might have beaten Argyle, I don’t think it will beat FF but who knows.
  11. Is there a way to see the game? Other than NFHS.
  12. It was a pretty good holiday crowd. First time for me in the gym in over a year. Very entertaining game. Seemed like it was faster paced than the final score would indicate, lots of action. The Hawks were just totally spent at the end of the 3rd and their offense sort of collapsed. The Tigers on the other hand seemed just as strong at the end as they were at any point. Relentless.
  13. Music to Coach Perkins ears.
  14. Harvey is trying to force too many shots. Understandably. Looking for a little run, I hope.
  15. I hesitate to bring it up because this is not what this thread is about but... If Huff wins it makes the Tigers look that much better! They only bowed out to the eventual champion. And now I'll stop.
  16. I wouldn't count Huff out. Not with Harvey on the court. I'm a believer.
  17. Yea, but they were primed to fade and Harvey picked them up personally and put them back in it. Leadership.
  18. It is gratifying to know that the Tigers could certainly have been competitive at the state semi's.
  19. I don't know. Could either Huff or Boerne score on Argyle?
  20. This game reminds me of another game. Hmmm. When was that?
  21. An occasional 3 pointer going in would have made a WORLD of difference. The young Tigers confidence level would have been much higher. At the beginning of the second they looked as down as I've seen them in the playoffs. They were psyched out. They battled back and it was a contest right up to the last couple of minutes. They had looks that were just about as open as in the Connally game but nothing fell. Was it the open gym? Whatever. What we saw was the best possible scenario for Huff and I think the Tigers being ice cold is the only way the Falcons win.
  22. That sounds reasonable. Boerne is a slightly better version of Huffman. And I think the winner will play the FF/Argyle winner a good game.
