  1. I went through the numbers today and 21-3A is looking more complicated than 22-4A... There are currently only 5 teams that have a mathematical chance to qualify for the playoffs. The best Orangefield could do is be in a 3-way tie for 3rd place, but there is no possible way for them to win that tiebreaker. Here goes: There are 8 district games remaining for the district meaning there are 256 different possible combinations of outcomes for those 8 games. West Orange-Stark qualifies in all 256 possible outcomes (100%) Kirbyville qualifies in 220 of the 256 outcomes (85.9%) Jasper qualifies in 130.66 of the 256 outcomes (51.0%) Silsbee qualifies in 125.66 of the 256 outcomes (49.1%) Hamshire-Fannett qualifies in 35.66 of the 256 outcomes (13.9%) The chances of each of the following combinations of teams qualifying is: (105.66 out of 256) WO-S, Kirbyville and Silsbee 41.3% [silsbee would go DI] (103.66 out of 256) WO-S, Kirbyville and Jasper 40.5% [Jasper would go DI] (16 out of 256) WO-S, Jasper and Hamshire-Fannett 6.2% [Jasper would go DI] (11 out of 256) WO-S, Jasper and Silsbee 4.3% [silsbee would go DI] (10.66 out of 256) WO-S, Kirbyville and Hamshire-Fannett 4.2% [WO-S would go DI] (9 out of 256) WO-S, Silsbee and Hamshire-Fannett 3.5% [silsbee would go DI] So there is still actually a very small probability that WO-S could end up going Division I...
  2. There are 8 total district games remaining in 22-4A in the regular season which means there are 256 possible combinations of outcomes for those 8 games... PN-G qualifies for the playoffs in 248 out of 256 of those possible outcomes (96.88%) Nederland qualifies in 180 out of 256 possible outcomes (70.31%) Lumberton qualifies in 180 out of 256 possible outcomes (70.31%) Dayton qualifies in 160 out of 256 possible outcomes (62.50%) No other team has any chance of making the playoffs other than these four. The likelihood of the various combinations qualifying is as follows: PNG, Ned and Lumberton - 37.50% PNG, Ned and Dayton - 29.69% PNG, Lumberton and Dayton - 29.69% Ned, Dayton and Lumberton - 3.12% PN-G is almost guaranteed a playoff spot right now. The ONLY way they can possibly be kept out is if: 1. PNG loses to both Central and Dayton AND Dayton beats PNG by at least 13 points, possibly more. 2. Nederland has to beat Dayton 3. Lumberton has to beat LC-M If any of the above things don't happen, PN-G is automatically in and going Division I.
  3. Ummm.... WO-S did kind of beat Dayton 22 to 14 and so far FIVE 22-4A opponents have only managed to put a combined 21 points up against them. WO-S is 2-0 head-to-head against 22-4A this year and fared better against Dayton than anyone else in that district has so far this season, BEFORE their star player got injured...
  4. Thanks for pointing that out... it's fixed now.
  5. According to my calculations, and contrary to what a lot of people are saying, I think WOS most definitely has the potential to... we've performed better against 3A competition this year than any other in the state. The difficulty is making it out of Region III still winning and uninjured as Region III has 17 of the top 30 programs in the state 3A Power Rankings for Week 9 (takes into account all games between all 174 3A programs statewide thru October 27th) 1 - 112.47 West Orange-Stark (21-3A) 2 - 108.00 Liberty Hill (18-3A) 3 - 105.32 Royse City (10-3A) 4 - 105.04 Waco La Vega (17-3A) 5 - 102.59 Celina (9-3A) 6 - 102.15 Gilmer (15-3A) 7 - 101.27 Giddings (23-3A) 8 - 96.93 Madisonville (19-3A) 9 - 96.72 Carthage (20-3A) 10 - 95.86 Waco Connally (17-3A) 11 - 95.01 Caldwell (23-3A) 12 - 94.95 Diboll (20-3A) 13 - 94.12 Abilene Wylie (7-3A) 14 - 93.94 Jasper (21-3A) 15 - 91.48 Cuero (29-3A) 16 - 90.91 Silsbee (21-3A) 17 - 90.29 Kirbyville (21-3A) 18 - 89.32 Crockett (20-3A) 19 - 89.03 Robinson (17-3A) 20 - 88.63 Liberty-Eylau (16-3A) 21 - 88.52 Kennedale (12-3A) 22 - 87.70 Frisco Wakeland (9-3A) 23 - 85.84 Navasota (23-3A) 24 - 85.21 Prosper (9-3A) 25 - 85.20 China Spring (17-3A) 26 - 85.15 Graham (6-3A) 27 - 85.04 Hamshire-Fannett (21-3A) 28 - 84.02 Argyle (8-3A) 29 - 83.73 Tyler Chapel Hill (14-3A) 30 - 83.28 Clyde (7-3A)
  6. 4A and 3A districts are updated.... I'm working on the others
  7. WO-S can definitely clinch IF they win because they will have beaten the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place teams already, with only Orangefield and Bridge City left to play...
  8. 10. UIL to ask districts about football changes 10/22/2007 By JIM VERTUNO / Associated Press The University Interscholastic League will leave the current football alignment in place and will survey Class 4A superintendents about adding a fourth team to the playoffs in additional sports, the league announced Monday. The league also enhanced the penalty for a first-time positive steroid test under the new testing program that is yet to begin. The governing body of Texas high school sports considered a split conference alignment for football for the upcoming 2008-2009 seasons, but the UIL Legislative Council agreed to ask superintendents instead if they want to make a change for the 2010-2012. The league will use 2008 enrollment figures in the survey to show what the changes might have looked like. "It gives everyone a chance to look at this plan with fresh numbers and a new perspective," said Charles Breithaupt, UIL director of athletics. Class 4A superintendents will decide if a fourth team is added to the playoffs in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball and volleyball. The playoff referendum will be this spring and would take effect in the 2008-09 school year if approved. Mandated by state lawmakers last spring, the UIL has yet to implement mandatory random steroid testing, although some penalty guidelines have been approved. The penalty for a first-time positive test had been a 30-calendar day suspension from competition. The new penalty would require a 30-school-day suspension and require a student to take an additional test with a negative result in order to restore eligibility.
  11. Do you need me to call you in something for that headache? Seems like its been bothering you all weekend
  12. D1 is looking to be tougher and tougher each week now... it's looking like both defending 3A state champs (Liberty Hill and Liberty-Eylau) will be in the D1 bracket now along with Gilmer and Royse City.....
  13. That's what the bold red indicates (shared title). The 3rd place indicates they lost the tiebreakers that determined the playoff seed and were considered the 3rd place team from the district entering the playoffs.

  15. I finally got around to PN-G... 21 District titles....trying for #22 this season. Finished 1st or 2nd 41 out of the past 74 seasons.
  16. Updated and amended to placate the Jasper folk... ;D
  17. PN-G will go Division I, unless there are several huge upsets, which is what it would take for Ozen to qualify. They'll most likely face Galena Park in the 1st round and then the winner of Dickinson and Lamar Consolidated in the 2nd.
  18. 1982 (3-4-0) and 1983 (2-5-0)
  19. 20. Just a few WO-S Stats in regards to district games... Since 1985, WO-S' record in district games is 123-15-0 (89.1% winning percentage) Only 3 teams have won more than once against them 8 of those losses were by a margin of 5 points or less Only 1 loss was to a school with a smaller enrollment at the time Nederland has been the biggest thorn in WOS' side by far 5 to Nederland (1996, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003) scores: 12-34, 7-35, 0-35, 21-42, 14-18 2 to PN-G (1992, 1996) scores: 13-14, 7-35 2 to Vidor (1996, 1999) scores: 19-20, 17-22 1 to Jasper (1986) score: 8-21 1 to LC-M (1994) score: 6-37 1 to PA Lincoln (1999) score: 6-10 1 to PA Jefferson (2001) score: 3-7 1 to Beaumont Ozen (2002) score: 6-7 1 to Beaumont Central (2003) score: 14-16
  21. Who knows, anything can happen.... but the last time Jasper beat WO-S in a district game, not one of the players from either of the current teams was even born yet.... Oct. 24th 1986 What's creepy is that this game will be almost 21 years to the day of that one....
  22. It's actually 24 straight... why does everyone keep forgetting those last 3 games over LC-M, PNG and Silsbee we won to close out district in 2003?? And if you're going to argue that the article is talking about 21-3A... that is incorrect too, as last night's win was only 11 straight in 21-3A... we were in 24-3A in 2004-05 ...sorry for being so OCD
