But stevie wonder could see that
this statment right here proves you have no clue what you are talking about.  I promise you Jack Alvarez wont let this happen.  He will not let them look past anyone.  They are still vidor and still big.  He is getting them ready!!
You are correct Ryker...I talk to Alvarez most of the time once a week...He never takes anyone lightly..His rule of thumb is This...Just because a team played bad last week don't mean they will play the rest of the season that way and every game you play is different,we play them one game at a time...That's just about how He looks at things...
KVille fans, you can tell by the statements Gilbert makes he/SHE is a disgruntled want to be that either isn’t playing or there kid isn’t playing.  He/SHE is always on these threads bashing the team or asking for the coach’s job.  Those of us that are on the threads enough don’t pay this idiot any mind.  Like I posted in another thread this joker posted on, he/SHE is going to blow out an ACL the way he/SHE jumps from one side of the fence to the other or even better jumps from one "ship" to another.  Good luck to both teams Friday.  Kirbyville is really great and we will have to play mistake free football to stay with them.  That’s the point of playing better competion in preseason people.  Not Sally Maes High School for Basket Weaving.  Look forward to see you wildkats on Friday and save some Frito pie for me. ;D
 2.
Evidently there are some fans, BC and Vidor, that don't realize that the Slot T offense that Vidor runs is first and foremost a run oriented offense.  Throwing the ball is not going to happen more than a very few times a game.  It is a ball control type offense and is not conducive to playing catchup when the other team opens a two or more score lead. It helps when your defense can keep the other team's offense off the field and can come up with a few 3 and outs. Vidor would have had to basically change offensive philosophy mid-game and that usually doesn't work so well.  You saw the results, one completion, two ints. including the late pick six.  (Although the first int. was an ill conceived halfback pass and was not thrown by the QB). Would a more balanced, but still run-oriented attack work better?,  I think it definitely would and I would be surprised if the coaches don't work on the passing game a little more. However, don't look for the spread to be instituted at Vidor. Finally, last night, it wasn't the offense that was the problem, I believe it had almost 300 yards.  You have to be able to stop the other team and get your offense the ball.
Very well said Riggins and Bridge City took full advantage of that.  Defense wins championships and we just dont spend any time over the last couple of years to get that part of the game up to the Slot T offense we run.  If we can get our defense  going the slot T the way we run it will be fine.
 3. Congrats go out to WOS.  I knew you boys were good a couple of weeks ago when we scrimmaged a couple of weeks ago.  You guys are going to make some serious noise this year in the playoffs.  Looks like another district title to our friends to the East.  I dont see anyone in your district that can hang with you.  Congrats and good luck for the rest of the way.
 4.
Vidors offense is horrible ! You guys were down by 17 in the 4th Qtr and tried to do long sustaining drives and all you were doing was eating up the clock
I guess it depends on who is running the clock or not running the clock or when to start a play, end a half, figure out if it was a fumble or not, blow the whistle to kill the play, no lets pick it up run in for a score, no start the clock, no dont start the clock, is it time for my viagra yet, did i leave my keys in the car, its definatly past my bed time.  I think you get it.  Since we have played both WOS and BC.  Make your stupid predicions before that butt kicking comes your way.   >:( I'll get this figured out >:(  If the post looks ADHD thats the point Card.
 5.
Well now i am wandering if Texas High played there jv against Vidor last week i thought vidor was goin to be bad this year and last week i had a false sense of hope. Tonight was the first time i got to watch the Vidor Pirates play i really think that Vidor needs to do nothing but tackleing drills all week in practice all they did was dive at the feet at the runners and it didnt work. The refs did suck really bad but Vidor would have lost anyway. It will be a very long year for Vidor this year and look for mr. Ford to have a great game next week. Vidor looked horrible, the defence is so small they will get pushed around all year. I really wish Vidor would have lost by 45 to Texas High because it really gave false hope that they might really have a decent team. I cant find a team that Vidor can beat that is left this year!!!!
Watch out gilbert,  your going to blow out an ACL jumping from one side of the fence to the other.  OOOPs  I couldnt help it.  >:(
 6.
Yes the officials made bad calls yes Vidor was on the short end. But officials cant be blamed for piss poor tackling and letting recievers run open down the field. As bad as it is to say this ones on the defensive players.Coaches cant tackle or cover for you and bad calls do not cause you to miss tackles or leave recievers uncovered. That is why we lost.JMO
>:( >:(Im remembering the promise >:( >:(
 7. dont let the score fool you.  This game was a joke.   WOW.  I dont complain about officials but $%#@#$%$$.   Good look Bridge city in your district.  If you can figure a way to get that crew for all your games you will win district (especially against WOS).  WOW, oh oops >:( I forgot about the promise. ;D
 8.

I see where Texas High's win over Vidor moved them up to #10, a 9 spot jump.
Yea and Gregory Portland beats a ranked PNG team by one and only moves to 13. No disrespect to Vidor but who had the tougher win. Thats why these polls mean absolutely nothing.  ;D
ouch
 9. Wow,  now after getting some sleep I will say some things on the Pirates.  First,  Texas High was BIGGG and Fast but we hung in there well.  The name of the game this year for the young Pirates is Discipline.  Offense,  I think a counted 9 false starts.  Those were drive killers on 5 of our possesions.  AKA Punts.  I am sure the coaching staff will get that fixed.  Defense, on two of the touchdown passes for Texas high we had mental breakdowns and let the recievers get behind us.  I am sure the coaching staff will fix that also.  (We are young).  But the tackling was a nightmare and for those of us at the game you know what i mean.  Brutal.  When your safeies are getting their name called out all night for make tackles,  thats not good.  I hope the coaching staff can fix this.  The offence had a swagger and the defence looked timid.  Fix the defence and this will get interesting.  Most of all I would like to tell the young Pirates you made SETX proud the way you played last night and made alot of people that really didnt know what we had go  :o.   Remember, Play like Champions and you will be Champions.  Great job and lets continue to improve.
 10. Thats great to hear.  Look forward to watching him on Friday nights.

Is this the curse of the Nederland Baseball team? I understood he was iffy about playing football this year because of baseball commitment to TCU.
Maybe you're talking about Tyler Smith? I understand he wanted to dedicate his senior year to baseball.
Per previous post above, Trev Sonnier was injured and hopes to be back for WOS. Trev did commit for baseball at TCU, can't verify if he was iffy about playing FB his SR year. Like baddog commented, Tyler Smith passed on FB to concentrate on baseball.
Trev was "iffy" about playing football this year.  He understands that an injury could jeopardize his TCU baseball scholarship.  Trev believes strongly in teamwork and team spirit and he felt an obligation to the Bulldog football team to suit up his senior year.  As his mother, I am very proud of Trev for being a team player, but if I had it my way, Trev would be sitting in the stands on Friday nights.
Mrs. Sonnier,  I wouldnt worry about anything anyone says on here on what Trev will or wont do.  Most of those posters need to get a life and stop trying to live vicariously through a high school athlete.  You see them on here all the time, "when I was in school" or "when I played".  Maybe those same people need to look in the mirror at that fat, beer bellied, old guy that has nothing else to do but complain about what teenagers are or aren't doing. ::)  Trev and your family will do whats best for him and that is the only opinion that counts.  Let the has beens be never wases. :'(
 12. Central doesnt have any thing to worry about
 13. I dont think PNG has anything to worry about.

 15.
I do respect PNG and i've made a couple of friends that are PNG fans.  However, it seems that there's a few that want to dish out the trash talk, but can't take it.  I love the pride and tradition that PNG fans have, but I remember people saying how we lost to Waller and the real game would be against Angleton, last year.  I'm fine with that, but if you talk trash, you better expect to receive some it right back.  I left it alone for a while, but "the video" was brought up again, so I don't see why I can't make comments too.  Everything I say is out of fun, but y'all take it so serious...  Lighten up a bit, trash talk makes things fun.  Need something to pick on us about... We lost to Lamar, Waller & Aledo.  Take your pick.  I apologize if my joking around has offended anybody. :-[
Sounds like someoone needs a hug ;D
 16.
If you come out of a scrimmage smarter and with no injuries, you won.
AMEN
 17. We have work to do.  But from looking at all the results on these boards everybody has things they need to work on before the season gets rolling.  We will see were the pirates are this year after the next few weeks.  We defiantly dont have a cake walk preseason this year and time will tell.  Good luck to all and play with everything you have. :)
 18. rykerx,  whats up with some of these Kville people lately?  You and a couple other posters have been great supporters of the wildkatz on the forums without acting like a jerk or a  :'(.   I really do wonder if it is the same guy all the time "hardcore".  Maybe he should have been breast feed longer or he really did get dropped on his head. :D  Dont worry,  those of us that have been on here awhile know that they dont represent the true kville fans.  You keep up the good work.
 19. Me too,  Come on Moderators, lets make it happen.
 20.
Im not sure Kirby maybe they are just not  "hardcore" fans like you are??
Now thats funny.  :D :D :D
 21. There is nothing wrong with the fields.  Piratedad dosnt know that the team practiced on the game field in the late practice.  Dont know what his son was talking about.  The practice field is fine. ::)
 22. Dear Father in heaven, I praise and thank You for using the sport of Football to draw me closer to You. I want to play this game so it is not about me, but all about You. I need Your Spirit to be in total control of my thoughts, actions, emotions and words. Help me not to worship the sport, but to be thankful for the skills and interests you have given me and to use them for Your glory. Help me also to encourage my teammates toward growth and maturity with You. Guide our coaches in making wise choices and help them be the kind of leaders You want them to be. Please keep all players free from injury, according to Your will, and bring healing to those injured. Lord, I trust You to renew my strength in times of weakness so that You will be glorified in everything I do. Help me to praise You in victory and defeat. I love You and thank you for your love for us. I pray these things in Jesus name, Amen! Have a great season and stay safe.  Lets Go Pirates
 23.

There seems to be a trend away from what is best for the team and your teammates to what is best for me. I think it is a sad trend.
I don't know that it is a trend of selfishness.  These young men (and as we have learned this year, young women, too) are making decisions about their lives beyond high school.  Part of that decision making is not selfish, but rather selfless.  Those that have either had to pay for their own education or have sent kids to college know what an expensive proposition it is.  So these young men and women, who I am sure acting on advice that forgoing playing a fall high school sport will increase their chances of earning a college scholarship, have chosen to sacrifice experience that goes with being on their high school teams to ease their family's financial burden.  That is truly admirable and mature beyond their chronoligical age. Here is why I used the word "disturbing" in an earlier post.  As I just stated, I have no doubt that those that are foregoing their respective fall sports are receiving advice that the extra exposure and/or practice will increase their chances of receiving an athletic scholarship.  However, in following high school sports, I know that the percentage of young men and women who play sports, be it high school or select, that are offered athletic scholarships is preciously small.  And the reputation of some select coaches is that they are a bit, let me put this diplomatically, possessive, of the players on their team.  I certainly hope that the advice that these young men and women are receiving is SOUND advice based upon their current skill level and actual chances of growing into a college prospect rather than advice based upon ulterior motive.  Otherwise, they will have given up an experience that they will never get back, and in the meantime possibly harm the performance of their friends and sacrifice their chances at scholarship, for nothing.  Unfortunately as the numbers opting to go this route increase and the numbers of scholarships given in the area do not, I fear that some will not have their expectations met...and that is where everyone loses. That being said, I wish Price, Tyler and Dillon, and those like them well and hope that their goals are met.
GREAT POST,  and very well said WOS.  You hit this one out of the park.  Excuse the pun. ;)
