  1. What is the date of birth cut off for this age group? I have a son that turns 14 on 05/02
  2. Looked to me like terrible tackling not great running. Anyone else but Sanders son, no one would even pay attention to this.
  3. First of all, you obviously don't know the first thing about me. Second all I could careless what your opinion is. And lastly you want to have the final say. You must be so much smarter than everyone else. If you knew me you would know that I'm not looking for my kid to be the best. I do want them to be the best prepared and I put in the time to help that happen. Unless you know me, don't question what I do for my kids or why. Don't you just love it when other people claim to know whats best for you and your situation. It's typical on here though. I have to agree. This is typical. My youngest son was forced to stay down a division because of the age change in 2006 form 07/31 to 04/30. My sons bday is 05/02. Wow two days. Two days meant he could not keep playing with the kids he had been playing with for years. It broke his heart. If this rule was made at the same time the cut off date was changed he would have moved up like he was expecting to. I know there will be parents out there that thinks little Johny is ready to move up when they have no business being there but you will see most of those kids won't play but the League minimum playing time that first year anyway. Mine was ready to move to the next division just as if he was supposed to before the rule change. Good job PONY. Its about time.
  4. I was thinking it was you, but wasn't sure if you wanted your identity revealed. I wasn't at the camp last year, but my previous reply was based on some parents comments to me on how it went; just being objective. I'm not sure why these parents felt they needed to come to me with this info, but being a previous board member & coach, I guess they felt I needed to be in the know. I was planning on signing myself & my boys up for this camp when I first moved out here, but unfortunately, that was the same year Mr. Stockton passed away & the camp was put on hold for a couple of years. Personally, I wouldn't invite other leagues over - Twin County needs all the help they can get, especially this year, when it comes to our All-Star teams getting out of this area. HA!!! I played one of your PONY teams last night and will be playing the other for the city championship tournament when we get the time and date set and from the outside looking in you guys out there in Sour Lake are in good hands for the future. You got some outstanding talent in your program and not to mention a great group of young men. As one of the coaches in Vidor that has had the opportunity to play against you guys this season it was a pleasure. You will be seeing my three boys out at your camp this year. Great job! ;D
  5. If you are talking about the Nederland game last week, the gloves are the problem! 10 errors in the game. Other than they worked the two pitchers in the game to death they will be alright. Can't give the other team 4 and 5 outs an inning. The two pitchers they worked in were throwing strikes and thats ALL you can ask for. Nederland was hitting the ball hard and sometimes you can't do anything about that. They were hitting line drives in the gaps almost at will and Vidor handled those hits better than most teams would. They should bounce back from that game and they will be alright. Every team has their hi's and lows. Nederland didn't hit the ball that well. When you drop 4 in field flies your not going to win games. Not complaining about the pitchers. They should not have been out there as long as they were but the defence let them down. They did play better the other night against Central. I think the final was 17-4. great job nederland hit the ball tremendously that game. Vidor had a good pitcher on the hill and they rocked him. were we at the same game?????? Were you? If you want to call 4 errors on easy plays in the first two innings rocked. The defence let us down. We play better than that.

  8. At least they were eating some prime rib crow burger. Last I checked the DOGS died a couple of weeks ago of playoff starvation. :D Way to go Raiders!!!! You did southeast Texas proud. You guys had one hell of a run.
  9. Congrats Raiders, good luck at take it to STATE!!!! ;D ;D ;D
  10. I have to agree with Pluto, The younger players played well but Friday the Seniors that were out there were amazing. Great way to end there high school career. Hopefully the team can carry on the momentum for next year.
  11. I was at the game last night and all I can say is WOW. The team looked great. I know I've been one not to agree with alot that happen this year on alot of these threads, but I have to give credit were it is due. Mathews and the rest of the coaches had those boys pumped up last night. Now lets give some credit to Jeff and the boys. Yall played great. Way to finish. I also heard Mathews pulled most of the kids up from the JV and suited them out last night because they haven't been able to play the last couple of weeks. That was a classy move. Great moral booster for next year keeping those kids involved. Again, GREAT JOB GUYS ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Way to finish SENIORS
  12. Have to agree with Big Ned. I got a chance to watch those boys a few weeks ago when we (Vidor) played them. I'd put that Wilson 8th grade team against anyone in this area. Congrats.
  13. I got the chance to play a game in the Dome. Trust me, from the stands point of view it might be great but for those kids out there, concrete+astroturf=pain and injuries. Rice is a much better place to "play".
  14. I don't agree with much that is going on in the program right now but I do have too say it is NOT the responsibility of the coachs to maintain kids grades. That only falls on the heads of the kids letting the team down and there parents that should be paying attention to what there kids are doing. The school provides plenty of programs to help these kids. All they have to do is get there. The coaches need to focus on X's and O's. But, if its the same kids are failing every grading period don't depend on them to be there, get the other kids that are there for you the playing time wasted on the ones that won't be there. Come on Pirates take this last one. Pirates 21 Bears 10
  15. I don't know where you were last year but they had two 9th grade teams then too. Yet alot of them didn't come back this year. Look at the JV. Its good you and Pirate4life are loyal to your coach but everything you guys are telling us not to blame the coaches for all the mistakes the team is making but that is why they get paid to coach. To make sure you don't make that many mistakes. There is obviously something not happening in practice. Hopefully things will turn around for you but what folks are saying is the truth. I don't care if its Mathews or Eskew or Joe Smith someone needs to take responsibilty and get things changed.
  16. I'm not sure which kids you are talking about. I have seen a lot of heart in these boys the last few games. Some started the game with injuries because they cared, others played to the end hurt (good game #33). Most of them do care. This was a tough loss, but there were several put out on the sideline that were got hurt during the game & could not go back in (couple with concussions). As for the coaching staff, it can't be blamed all on them. Yes things should change, starting at the Junior High level, but these changes can happen without anyone getting fired.
  17. I agree give credit were credit is due. Great job Panthers. You played well. :) Vidor on the other hand is a team and program in crisis. I see all the posts on here about this guy is bad this guy isn't, proof is in the product put on the field. Alot of what everyone is saying is true. Why are there so few Seniors playing? Why do we lose so many kids in the program every year? The decisions being made in the program now is even affecting the Junior High programs to the extent that kids coming up don't even want to play in High School. Look, I don't need the coachs to be a roll model, mentor, father figure to my boys. Thats what I am here for and the rest of the parents of these young men. I' ve seen these some of these coachs in action with these boys and beleive me that is not what I want my kids to espire to be. Not all the coaches are bad but right now it looks that way. We can't even field a JV team right now. Yes,I herd the excuse (we have no running backs) either to injuries of grades. The injuries are tuff and affect every program every year but the grades are usually the same kids every year. Think about it coaches, why depend on an athlete, as good as they may be, if when you turn around after grades come out they aren't there anymore. Its not a 3 game season!! Also, I wonder if a little league coach can show up for a game on Sats. and say oops We cant play beacause we have no running backs. Come on. You have TE, Wide receivers that can carry the ball. Just another reason why we will lose another 12-15 more upper classmen next year. Overall I give them an F. No Pass, No Coach.
  18. I have to agree with you bigdog. I got a chance to see these kids in action a few weeks ago when Vidor played them. This team is the real deal. Congrats to those boys over there. You guys have got a great program set up over there from top to bottom. :)
  19. You need a degree to coach like that????? You've got to be one fo the coaches. Your doing a great job???? LOL
  20. I am from Vidor and completly agree with you. Those that don't will keep be satisfied with losing. I for one am not. Great observation BIGMO44!!!
  21. It might not be pay, it might be Mathews. What a concept.
  22. I think everyone will and they should. Or should we have more Dexter Manleys in the world that make all the way through college and can't read. If you don't like the rule its probably because someone isn't studing.
