None of them mean a dang thing. Look how good old Dave Cambell has been. Most of them are a joke , but they make a good read/toilet paper.
After all the years of disrespecting Pirate football, it's nice to see and hear people say good things about us. Jeff Matthews has been the greatest thing to happen to Vidor sports ever.....regardless of whether you like him or not. We don't play very many homecomings anymore other than our own. When you beat Texarkana Texas High you beat a state recognized program not an individual team. Vidor 40, BC 27. Only take away I have is whether Brentyn Clark plays....he is our hoss that makes the offense go.
Brentyn is an important piece of the offense as is the other 10 that make the play happen. If you have watched the last few games you wouldnt have made the comment "He makes the offense go." REALLY??? What makes our offense go has been our O-line. Those men need ALL the credit for what has made our offense go. They have been great. PERIOD. GOGO did a great job when he came in and Stevenson runs Hard and fast like GOGO. Brentyn will be missed, but nobody in that backfield would be doing a thing without the O-Line. We will not see another team as big as the Tigers through district play. I like our chances as long as they stay healthy and we might be getting back our biggest and most phyicial lineman Sat. He will Punch you in the "mouth." 8) He was out for the Texas high game.

PN-G vs Gregory Portland Predictions
TITAN POWER replied to Indianforever's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Dang Indians, Way to beat the bricks off of Gregory-Portland. Sweet revenge for last year. Go Indians!!!!! (except when you play the pirates of course) ;D -
Matthews said earlier this week that Texas High would be the best team the Pirates would face this year and would be a great early season test....sounds like the Tigers will be a tough out.
Texas High is good and probaly the biggest team we face all year.(Just like last year) But Central and Kirbyville were the two best teams we played last year. Nederland, PNG, Central and Livingston are no teams to sneeze at. We will have to see.

He's a legit sub 4.5 40 guy.

he's a junior this year, heck I don't know, I think he cut 5 10th's off is 40 time, don't care about last year. Maybe cuz he played same positions as Salenga and Sonnier? I'm talking about this year, just watch.
So your saying he went from 5.0 speed to 4.5? ::)
He went from low 4.6 to low to mid 4.4.
So you're telling me this kid has better speed than Anquan Boldin, A.J. Green, Larry Fitzgerald, Donald Driver, Brad Smith, Brandon Marshall, Dwayne Bowe and many other NFL wide receivers? Give me a break. Do people realize how fast 4.4 speed is? Give me a break with all these stopwatch times of 4.4.
Agreed, tired of all these people saying there kids ran a 4.4 but no one has ever heard of them, It is possible of course, but if you run a 4.4 while in high school then we would know your name because your stats would be recognizable, only person I hear at least in 22-3A that they say runs a 4.4 is Sherman Gilbert RB Coldspring who rushed for 2000 yards and 20 touchdowns missing 4 games and playing for a state championship and I still can't say he runs a legit 4.4 because I've seen him beat on the track against guys running high 4.5's so you never know.
Like I said before, Alex Cezar from LCM ran a LEGIT LAZER TIME 4.4 at the State track and field meet his Sophomore year.
I didnt know that they ran the 40 at track and field meets but maybe they put a laser timer at 40yds. That would still be on a track with spikes and running out of blocks. If anyone runs a low 4.4 they should be playing for the Raiders in a few years. Heck, I think I read somewhere that Usain Bolt ran a 3.7 on a track.
8) Was wondering when someone was going to point that out 8)

I was at the game last night and take the bad officiating out of it, WOS dominated the game. Not sure about the offensive play calling. Looks like the WOS coach is bound and determined to run that I formation when it was clear Nederland had no answer for the spread/pistol all night. That let the Dogs stay close which in the end cost them the game. Never let a team like Nederland to stick around or you will fall victim to possible bad calls. Refs stunk it up last night but WOS lost this game not the officials. To bad because the Mustangs where playing great all night. PS. Mathews, get the names of this crew and run from them. They were as bad as the Bridge City crew from last year. ;D ;D

Nederland vs. WOS Prediction...
TITAN POWER replied to smitty's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This one should be closer than last year but I think WOS takes this one by 6. The QB out there at WOS is fast and hard to get to. We were on him all night and couldnt rein him in. Made some good strong throws also. WOS have an electric running game when it gets on track. The Mustangs in a close one. Make some room in the stands for this Pirate fan out there Mustang fans. I cant wait to see this one. -
My bad. Players take care of it ::) Anyways it looks like Texas high has got a defense that is returning with some speed but with our last scrimmage we faced a pretty good defense with some speed also, yet we had a running back, David Bolinger, who had 158 yards with 8 carries averaging 19.75 yards a carry and IMO those stats speak for itself. I think that will be the edge in the game. But we also have to work on holding on to the ball and working on our passing as well. But overall i think the Pirates will sail over the Tigers this year with flying colors ;D
While we are working on that. Something the coaches can fix is the stupid personnal foul penalties that keep happening. Those are just dumb , undisipline football and drive killers.
Fortunately the 2 personal foul penalties didn't hurt the Pirates in the scrimmage since the Refs. weren't marking off the yardage, but yea those type of penalties are inexcusable. The individual that committed those fouls will not make that same mistake again believe me because I'm the official sanctioning agent over that young man! ;)
Better watch out.
Your the one that has the problem with dropping names. Nothing "personnal", but when you put it out there, dont take it personnally when people respond in a manner you dont like. Just like the way you are high jacking the Nedarland vs WOS thread with this same garbage. When or lose the game against Texas High its going to be a team effort. Especially with the Slot-T offense that needs everyone to do their job to get the plays off. One Team, One Mission
First of all 2cents just loves his brother that's natural don't ya think, so if his post about his brother's accomplishments bothers you, then I would suggest that you ignore them. You have a right to post anything on here that you want as long as it is within the rules of the forum, as does he. As David's dad, I or any other member of his family have a right to support and/or promote him, as well as the entire Vidor team. As a family, we are avid supporters of the Pirates, and obviously David in particular. If you have a problem with us supporting David, then pm me or we can talk face to face. Let's all be adults about this please. Go Pirates!!!
I have no problem with the family support. I have always had a problem with putting self before team and you would know that better than most. Nor a problem with the player. Your right you have a right to post what you want as long as you are within the rules of the forum as do I. I also have the right to agree or disagree with it. Like I said, its not personal, its an opinion. But I will never stop responding to posts good or bad if I feel like responding. Thats the point of this forum. I will always be an avid supporter of the pirates and all the players on the team. Go Pirates

Not real sure whats going on in Kville right now, but as far as the playing Vidor (since we keep getting brought up). Last year I would have put Kville up against anyone in our district and the had shot a winning. Probably could have made the playoffs fo 20-4a. Yes thats right a 2a/3a school. Good group of kids and great fan base out there. Cant say that about everyone in 20-4a. Hope the wildkats get things turned around for the season.

Its just another practice for both of them
Thats about all any of the first scrimmages are.
Do i really have to explain this one ? I mean , come on dude . 1. OK , here we go ! Vidor runs the exact offense (SLOT-T) as O-Field. 2. Both teams see it every day (EVERYDAY)in their own practices and they both know how to defend it. 3. O-Field does not play another Slot-T offense in the regular season( that I am aware of ) 4. I think both teams defenses would benefit more from scrimmaging teams that have offensive game plans like their future opponents ( excluding Livingston ) 5 ................................................
Wow, OK Dude, Let me type a little slower for you since you get your panties in a bunch when folks state their opinion. 1. Ok here we go. So, Its about hitting someone in a different color jersey and offenses change from year to year. 2. Let me get 2 and 3 at the same time. We DO play another team that happens to be picked to win district this year (for all that’s worth) that runs the same offense. So it is good for our first team defense to see the Slot-t being run from Orangefields first offense and not our JV. 3. We will be playing an offense this week that is like what we will be seeing during the season. By the way WOS changed their offense this year from the spread to the I. 4. We only have 2 scrimmages, so anytime you can get the work in its beneficial to see what you need to work on and with at least three different offensive schemes we will be seeing this year I guess we will end up a couple of scrimmages short to be ready for whatever we see this season. 5. ……….COME ON Man……….. 6. ::)

After taking a couple of days to digest what happened in the scrimmage and take my "LOVE" hat off, I agree the first team offense moved the ball well for the first scrimmage. First team defense looked pretty good also. Like every team in the area the coaches were trying to evaluate how far along the team is and how much needs to be worked on before week 0. Lineman relief is going to be critical this year. The big boys were dragging half way through the scrimmage. Depth is the problem. But for all the moving parts that took place after the first few plays the team didn't do bad. I don't see the coaches doing near the moving of players against WOS in the next scrimmage so they can tell what we will have come week 0. We have work to do , but so does everyone else. PS I will leave the "what kid should be playing were thing" to the coaches. Were It Belongs. ;)
