Maybe I should have said "winning a title" but I thought that's what we were talking about.

It was BU that beat Faith Family at the TABC. Of course their roster might be a lot different when the season starts. Silsbee was missing 5 or 6 kids from the team last week. I can think of a few that should make decent contributions this year that weren't there. With or without Miller, hopefully it'll be enough to fill the void if he leaves early. Some of you have to keep in mind 4A is a different beast than what is was a few years ago. We didn't have the top 4A schools looking like they should be in the 6A playoffs. The only reason this bunch doesn't have at least one ring already is some freakish JUCO looking team. 2017 Silsbee would have a hard time winning anything today. They would have lost to FF the same way this bunch did year before last.

I'd guess he had around 10 - 14 points. Had a nice steal or two. Also got completely steamrolled on a charge, but he was okay. It would have been really easy for Silsbee to get discouraged and throw in the towel after that first half. They had to have been tired and these games don't really mean much. Nice job too keep fighting, and regardless of this game meaning much or not, it still feels good.

Down by 13 at the half. Dallas Cater literally looks like a college team. Definitely been talking recruiting lessons from Faith.
-
Tigers win 60 - 41. Play Carter at 3:30, I think.
-
Tigers are up 37 - 22 at the half.
-
Pinkston. They play Carter last.
-
They don't play till 1:25.
-
Tigers win 76 - 69 Game should have never been that close. No idea why our 2 bigs sat the entire second half. Let them rebound at will. Play Pinkston and Carter in back to back games tomorrow.
-
I don't see Payton playing for Silsbee, but Miller is. Kinda odd. Edit: Nevermind. Payton is playing for the Tigers
-
Didn't get a score, but I know Beaumont United beat Plano East. Silsbee will play Canyon Randall at around 8pm.
-
Looks like Silsbee will get Dallas Carter again. Other two teams are Pinkston and Canyon Randall.
-
If Bush had taken after his dad in height, we might not need this conversation for Silsbee. The upcoming freshman will be in the conversation in a few years.
-
Darrell McArthur. If Harris goes nuts for his senior year, it'll be very debatable. I mean, it already is debatable, I guess.
-
Orangefield should have a few good runs in them if they stay where they're at. Not sure about that uptempo style of play some of their fans seem to want. I know a few local schools that'd run them out of the gym if they tried playing that way. Maybe if they stick to 3A it could work.

Silsbee Spring Tournament 4 - 29
Tigers94 replied to Who That's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Jones had 14 points against Jasper. Scored 28 against PNG. Made seven 3 pointers, although one of them probably should not have counted. They gave it to him on the scoreboard though so we'll go with it. -
Silsbee Spring Tournament 4 - 29

Silsbee beat Jasper (pink team). For whatever reason the Tigers were the visiting team on the score board. I believe they've also played Nederland and PNG today. -
Odds of Silsbee and United making it to state next season

A lot of the genetics that made up the good Tiger teams come home when it's time to settle down and raise a family. Coach Sigler has coached a lot of these kids parents. and unless something has changed and I'm not aware of it (certainly possible), I believe the young lady that'll be a freshman next year last name is Alfred. Same first name though. -

The Jones kid has the potential to be just as good as anyone that's ever come from Silsbee. If he grows to be about the size of his dad you can forget about it. The 8th grade team did have another kid that was big for his age. From what I could tell he'll probably need at least a year at the lower levels though. On the bright side with no Miller for b-ball, it'll make the class of 24 graduating sting a lot less. They'll only be losing two major players off the squad (Harris/Bottley). Nobody ever talks about it here, but the Tiger girls will be getting an even bigger upgrade to the roster than the boys. -
Can we get some more transfers on defense please? Offense should be on point as it is. Kinda feel bad for Bottley. You just know he wanted that QB spot.

Silsbee needs to shoot the ball better if they want to make it back. They should be able to do that, I think. We had some good shooters at the lower levels. If they can make it to varsity and do that it'd be great. Only one of the kids we're losing could shoot a basketball well (Jackson). We'll need somebody to step up on the boards though. Kinda odd that only 3 kids from that nearly unbeatable 8th grade squad has made a big impact at the varsity level. Just goes to show you never can tell how things will play out when they make it to high school. -
The Throne National Basketball 🏀 Tournament
Tigers94 replied to SportsJunkie32's topic in High School Boys Basketball
How much do these kids and coaches really care about these games? I know bragging rights and all that, but no way do I think there's the same mentality and intensity as a good playoff run. -
He's in 8th grade right now. I thought you had to wait a full year if you went to a new school for sports before you could play? Silsbee had a kid this year who had to play JV ball due to moving.
-
Peyton pretty much lived in the gym at Tiger games this past year. Almost felt like he was a part of the team already but couldn't play. Pretty sure he'd be ineligible for one year if he made the move to BU. Not sure anybody would want that. There's only one thing that could maybe cause some people to think he's going to BU, but I still don't think that's likely.

If Silsbee can average 25 wins over the next 3 years, that'll put Coach Sigler at 900. Very doable. He could realistically finish at about 930 - 950 for a career. I believe he's 66 right now. Not sure if getting close to 1000 and coaching into your early 70s would be worth it or not. Got to slow down and relax eventually.
