Lumberton 52 Silsbee 82/FINAL

I'm certainly glad Coach Brooks has mellowed out a bit from a few years ago. It hasn't affected how the kids play for him at all either. -

If I remember right, I think Lumberton was missing a kid that played in the first matchup. Sort of tall and husky. Might explain a little why they looked so small. Kinda wondering if the Tigers move Shoulders (#14) back up to varsity or not. Might not since it's so late in the season, but these JV games are looking way too easy for him. -
Kountze 67 East Chambers 64/FINAL

Wow. That's a big win for Kountze. Any chance the Lions surrounding Sells with good talent? I know a school about 10 minutes down Highway 327 he can come play at if not. -

Lumberton 52 Silsbee 82/FINAL

No Brisbane, Baltrip, or Cartwright tonight. We really need to stop playing with teams. No more taking the starters out halfway through the 1st quarter please. Might cost us dearly against a better opponent. What happened to the size Lumberton used to have? Mitchell screaming at the top of his lungs for rebounds. Bro, half your team looks like they're about 5'6. Chill out. -

Must mean we'll be seeing the Mitchell handholding campfire strategy tonight. It's a really good that no food or drinks are allowed in the gym. -

Gonna go ahead and post this here for anyone who was going to ask. [Hidden Content] -
Remember Silsbee losing to Channelview in the playoffs one year. Had to have been in the early to mid 90s.

Wow. They almost blew it. Maybe WOS has gotten a little better as the season has progressed. -
Vidor is hanging in there if you want to count keeping it within 20 hanging in there. 42 - 23

Rice is playing for anyone wondering how he was doing.

Bridge City 62 Silsbee 99/FINAL
Tigers94 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
About the Silsbee JV. It looks like they got at least one or two players back from last week when it looked like grades did them in. They lost to Bush, I think, by one point. Early season they were a mess just like the varsity squad. Really 3 or 4 of these guys could be productive on varsity. They've had to dribble the ball out in the 4th and running clock a few teams in district this year. It'll be a nice stable of kids to choose from next year since Silsbee will be losing about 5 to graduation that's on the current roster. Freshman Adams (#30 tonight) had a pretty good game against JV level kids. He's getting there. -

He'll be sore in the morning. So long as he didn't bend a leg the wrong way or come down on his wrist/arm awkwardly, he should be ok. -

Put a fork in them. 63 - 41 Can still see Bridge City making the playoffs this year. -
Since it's a home game, I'd imagine Silsbee ISD's YouTube channel will have it. [Hidden Content]

Looks like Pasadena, Deer Park, and Baytown got it pretty bad. Didn't see anything too bad locally besides a few down trees and no power in some spots.
-
Seeing news that it got bad near Pearland. If the tornado is moving straight west, it should end up in the water though.

Halfway thru district play assessment
Tigers94 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
My predictions for district. 1. Silsbee 2. LCM - I'm still going with LCM, but I feel a little shaky about it. 3. Lumberton 4. Bridge City 5. Jasper 6. Vidor 7. West Orange Stark The real fight is gonna be between Jasper and Bridge City for the 4th spot, I think. It's really close, but I give the edge to BC because they're the better shooting team. Wouldn't be surprised if Jasper sneaks in though. -
I went back and checked the Lions roster from last year to make sure I wasn't trippin. It looks like he would be exactly what Kountze needs too. A 6'5 sophomore (junior now). That's too bad.

Halfway thru district play assessment

My most surprising team is Bridge City. They've got some good shooters who can be a problem if they get going. Really didn't expect them to be 4 - 2 right now. Sorry Bear fans, but LCM is a disappointment. It really doesn't look like they have much besides two kids. Not much depth at all. It's going to be easy for good teams to wear them down. I'm not sure they finish second in district after all. Before the season started I thought after Silsbee, it was going to be LCM and then everyone else. I guess two 6'5 kids that can run the floor ain't enough. -
I thought there was two Sells kids who could ball. Something happen to the other one or am I mistaken?

Little Cypress-Mauriceville 47 Silsbee 80/FINAL

Be nice if LCM somehow still managed to get a game with Yates. No idea how Yates is doing or if that's possible. They only play 7 kids (at least they did last night) and rarely sub till one of their players looks like he's about to fall over. They can't afford for one of their good players to have an off night either. Not sure how far they can get with that. Might want to get #0 to work on his free throw shooting. -

Oh and #14 on JV is Quentin Shoulders. Gonna be a nice addition next year to go alone with Johnson and Peyton. Usually #21 for JV can ball out, but he didn't play. Matter of fact, a lot of kids on the lower levels didn't play.
