We could get a rematch with Center. They're another good team that wasn't ranked early in the season or was ranked really low for whatever reason.

If you think about it Silsbee is missing 3 key players from last year's team. Gilder, Baltrip, and Jones. One of those couldn't be helped and the other two graduated. It's been my opinion the Tigers are still a year away for a while now. Afraid I might be proven right eventually. Glad we managed to sweat this one out. Think we're 4 - 3 all time against Yates now.

Think we may have to sweat this one out a little more than some people think. Tigers by 4. If Yates is smart, they'll watch the first Silsbee/West Orange game and try to learn something. Don't know if Yates has a player as good as #23 for WOS though. Of course they'll probably try to make it a track meet. Fine by me. I just hope we don't forget how to make free throws like we did in last year's game.

WOS should do what Silsbee does and make long full court passes to beat Yates press. Toss the ball over the top of that mess.

West Orange has played Yates once or twice, I think. It didn't go well for the Mustangs either time. Maybe this will be the year.

Harris needs a third dunk. Don't think he's had 3 in a game this year. Could have got 3 against Vidor, but he passed the ball.

All this talk about the boys being so young, the Silsbee girls starting lineup is also really young. They ain't beating HJ though. Not sure it'll even be that close if that game happens.

Looks like this will be Hardin Jefferson's shot at taking down Yates finally. They had two Sears kids on their roster if I remember correctly. I'm guessing it's the older one who isn't playing anymore. Not sure if I'd like a Yates/Silsbee game this year or not. They'll have payback on their minds and nothing to really to lose.

Never want to underestimate your opponent. Hope the Tigers come out with a sense of urgency and play like it's their last game, which technically it could be for the year.

Think Vidor may have had 2 more points than they should have. They called off a Pirate basket towards the start of the third and didn't take the 2 points off the board. That's okay, I guess. We'll let them have it.

Top scorers for Silsbee tonight: Harris - 23 Miller - 18 Bottley - 12 Harper - 9 Dunk count was 2 - 0. Actually it was 3 - 0 overall if you count all games. Harris had 2 on varsity. Baltrip had one on JV. Sort of a soft dunk, but good enough to count.

Everything seems to go through # 23 for West Orange. He struggles they struggle. He's a senior so they better figure something out for next year. The Mustangs are actually pretty small outside of 2 or 3 kids. Didn't help their other big never seemed to be in the game really. You saw why Silsbee can be dangerous tonight. Sure you can play us hard for a quarter ot two. Have one bad quarter and you might be down by 30 in a few minutes.

I wonder if there's film of a Raider fan giving one of our kids a mild shove in the back when he was close to their side of the court. I know I wasn't the only one who saw that. Could have made for a more lively gym experience if one of his parents had taken serious exception to it.

This still would have been a 35 - 40 point loss for Lumberton if Coach Sigler had left the starters in the 4th. I guess you have to take whatever moral victory you can sometimes 😏

I said this in the other thread, but Lumberton didn't play that terrible (no they weren't gonna win) when they actually played basketball. They sorta played themselves here.

Matchups and a hated rivalry can be a weird thing. Would like to see the Tigers pull away in this one though. Only team that can sorta match Silsbee in athletes besides WOS is LCM and thats mainly just two kids. Wouldn't be surprised if their main player doesn't get a few offers to play somewhere.
