Week 3 Silsbee at Nederland-Nederland Wins 41-34 in OT!

Sucks that some of our kids have played so well and still might be looking at an L now. Gotta learn how to put teams away when you got them down. Pretty stressful for the fans too lol. -

Really starting to like this Brisbane to Miller connection. -

We really are gonna lose this game because of our lack of kicking. I knew it was gonna be worse this year, but come on! -

What I wouldn't give for a kicker 😞 -
Kimball stacking up for Beaumont United

Nobody can do it like The Metroplex when it comes to transfers. Wouldn't mind seeing Kimball taking more from Faith Family though 🙂 -
Top 10 best coaches in Setx??

Not sure what some people expect from these coaches. Consistently winning and making playoff runs means you're doing something right. -
Top Returning Players for 2021/22

LCM will have a pretty good freshman, I think. Don't remember his name. Silsbee might have at least one or two. Not 100 percent sure on that though. It's really early and hard to tell who's gonna be playing where and doing what. -

No names to add besides what's already been said. Of course all these coaches need talent to do what they do. Nobody is taking the chess team on a deep playoff run lol. -
Most of the size some of these teams have doesn't mean much if players can blow by them like they're standing still and they can't run up and down the court very well. Unless we're talking extreme differences, one team having a few players an inch or two taller than the kids on the other team ain't gonna matter.

Orange County I think.

I thought Bridge City was supposed to have a good class of freshman they brought up last year? I realize they lost quite a bit of senior leadership, though, so that could hurt them this season. Anyways: district only. 1. Silsbee 2. West Orange 3. Orangefield 4. Lumberton 5. LCM 6. BC 7. Vidor.

Jackson had a good showing against Midway. Probably had about 15 points. Pretty nice looking shooter. Hope he can keep it up and be consistent.

Think Tyler is coming home this year. One thing you have to remember is some of those kids didn't have their breakout year until their senior season. So all those names may look good on paper, but they don't tell the whole story. Same thing happened this past season with Baltrip and Gilder. Silsbee had a great freshman class last year in b-ball. Many of those kids didn't see varsity time because court time was more important. I don't think the 9th graders lost a game and the ones I saw weren't even close really. I'd expect some more of that to move up this year.

The team that won the first title against Brazosport had a lot of depth. No denying that. They were pretty much trying to win with a 5 - 6 man rotation after that year though. Sure it looked like they still had good depth against bad teams, but that roster got awfully limited against tough opponents.
-
Time will tell how good these new Tigers are gonna be. One difference is this team shouldn't need to heavily rely on 2 or 3 kids every night. I know it's really early, but another player not named Miller/Harris had a really solid showing at the TABC showcase. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but I hope we can at least take a few shots at state these next couple of years. Got another kid that's gonna be in Jr High this year that can really go, too. Put a solid team around him when he makes it to high school and the good times could keep rolling for quite a while.
-
Pretty cool 2024 rankings. Harris will probably be #1 by years end.
-
Think the dunk count for the Midway game was 2-2. Not bad considering Midway looked like they had 4 kids who were 10 feet tall. Silsbee played either 7 or 8 kids for this, so a little more than half the team.
-
Harris has been killing it in AAU ball. Gonna be a very special player if he keeps working and getting even better.
-
Sigler doesn't get the credit he deserves from a lot of people. Even back when Silsbee was in the middle of their title runs, some folks were acting like he just went in to his office and took a nap while the kids sorted things out. Based on the really early preview from what little I've seen, next year could be a whole lot of fun for the Tigers. Gonna have to wait till football is over though. That's just how it is now. I get why Green should be coach of the year though. Winning a title ain't ever easy, even for a team as good as United.

Now that it's been mentioned, what are the odds of Arceneaux going to an academy school? I'm of the belief that if you're good you'll get noticed no matter where you play. Not sure how much an academy school really does for some of these kids. and that first 3 pointer was definitely the best. I just knew BU was about to lose when he took that shot.

Argyle 49 Huffman Hargrave 30/FINAL
Tigers94 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Hard to win when you can't make any shots. Silsbee played bad, Hargrave didn't. Nothing short of a minor miracle they only lost by 6 points. -

Lots of other states have 30 - 35 second shot clocks. There's no excuse why it can't work here when it's the norm in other states. If you need an extra person to watch that clock then get one. There was an Alabama high school game that ended with a score of 6 - 4. Are y`all okay with that? These were 6A schools too, not some little dirt road towns playing one another. "Our state doesn't have a shot clock, so let's take advantage of it" shouldn't be a viable coaching strategy. As for Hargrave, it really didn't look like they had much outside of Harvey. They had one other kid who was trying to make something happen and that was it. I really don't know how good they're gonna be next year when he's gone. -

Maybe if they were shooting on a peach basket this would be acceptable. Westlake and Duncanville needs to hurry up and play.
