  1. Lets see if we can finish at 7 - 3 and get at least one playoff win. I'll consider this a solid season if we can pull that off.
  2. Read option is working. I don't know why we don't do it more. Lets try to at least make this respectable.
  3. If I'm being honest, that Silsbee ranking is a little too generous. Are a lot of these 4A teams down, or are we benefiting from name recognition? It probably won't hold for long anyways if the Tigers start the season like they usually do. One good thing about this year is they won't have to wait long on the football players.
  4. I just wish we had a QB that could run on teams instead of just sitting back in the pocket. We'll have one next year that's capable of doing that. I hope he'll have the green light to do so. It would be one more thing opposing defenses would have to worry about. Silsbee will need to play their best game of the season to have a chance Friday.
  5. Jasper was terrible last year. I don't know if the team quit on their coach or what happened. WO-S should be better. I see what would have been one of our new kids is playing for Hamshire Fannett now. He would have been a solid player for us. I still expect some of our remaining new players to step up.
  6. Who else is likely to make D2 in basketball that's good? I'd like to know before getting too bold with my predictions. I'd expect at least a pretty good season out of Silsbee though. A lot of these kids haven't spent much time playing together in real games. I'd expect to see five or six new arrivals out there. The Tigers will really need a reliable second and third option on the court. They can't just rely on PJ to do everything all the time.
  7. The homer in me says Silsbee by 7. In reality I think WOS wins by 14. The Tigers overachieving early in the season sort of warped people's expectations. This was always supposed to be a down/rebuilding year. I just hope to see some improvements over these last few games. It'll be something to build on gong into next year.
  8. Beat up or not, this is sort of the Tiger team most people expected to see this year. Hopefully things will get better when all the kids get back to playing.
  9. Seventh graders are going to be legit in football and basketball. As for this game, how banged up are we still? If we're still missing a lot of kids, I think HF takes this one. If not, I think the Tigers pull out a victory. I just hope this team didn't peak at the start of the season.
  10. I'd expect a very solid season from the Tigers this year. Looks like we're spending more time close to home when compared to previous seasons. I wish last year's team could have got game with Hitchcock. This year should be a good battle though.
  11. I predicted about 5 wins for Silsbee for the entire season. They could get there next week if healthy. Regardless if they're actually good or not, this year is already going way better than I expected it to.
  12. I can see a lot of Moshier to Johnson plays happening tonight.
  13. This certainly ain't the same Bellville I watched against Silsbee last year.
  14. It may not always be pretty, but the Tigers have exceeded expectations already this year for a lot of us fans.
  15. Down goes Desoto. North Crowley - 57 DeSoto - 51
  16. INT Silsbee. This one is over.
  17. I guess LCM will squeak one out then. Discipline has never been something the Tigers excel at. I'll still be a homer and take Silsbee by 3 though.
  18. Not sure exactly when Coach Sigler is gonna hang it up. Maybe when Payton Jones graduates? Silsbee should start to see some very good classes (one of them Payton's little bro) making their way to high school by then, so he may be tempted to stick around so long as he remains healthy and wants to do it.
  19. Kountze would probably have at least a 50 percent chance at beating Silsbee this year. Those were some fun days when it was a rivalry going back and forth. Some of us want to relive that, even if it is temporary.
  20. Silsbee won by 5 or 6 points. Almost blew a 12 point lead in the second half though.
  21. Tiger game tied at 29 after one half. Gains stepped up big so far in this one.
  22. Tigers lost 63 - 44. Could have been a much tighter ballgame if we had made free throws.
  23. There's always going to be talent in Beaumont. People are kidding themselves if they think a big drop off is going to happen. The upcoming freshman kid is already 6'8 and still growing. I'm sure they'll find a way to work with that.
  24. Good luck and safe travels to the Tiger boys heading to Nationals in Levelland. Best believe we will be back....eventually. Hopefully there wont be any juco teams playing in 4A by then.
  25. Silsbee will have a good chance to still make region next year. It depends on if the kids that were on JV this year can step their games up to varsity. I think at least 3 or 4 of them can. That would give the Tigers a solid 8 or 9 kids if it can happen. Of course, how different Payton Jones will be for his sophomore year compared to his freshman season will matter more than anything.
