Houston Yates 81 Hardin-Jefferson 69/FINAL
Tigers94 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I think, also, if Willie Jones had came home a year early, Silsbee might be going for 4 this year. He was exactly the type Silsbee needed in that game with Lincoln. I do think this year is gonna be the hardest, because as has been stated before, 4A is loaded this year. -

Just how bad was that team Yates beat by 500 points last time? Hardly impressed with them. I think I like Silsbee's chances if they meet up again. Kinda wonder about Palestine now being in the mix. If HJ just had one athletic big that could get his own shot at the rim, they may have won. Shame they have to go home so early. -

You know if HJ somehow wins this, I'd be paranoid about trying to beat the same team 3 times in a year. But that's getting just a little bit ahead of ourselves. -

Tied at 34. Game is on Texan Live for anyone that has a subscription. -
[Hidden Content] "Hardin-Jefferson is no joke. The 22-9 Hawks finished second to Silsbee in District 22-4A. And earlier this season, the Hawks played a close one with their district rivals, losing 79-76. While Yates will face criticism for its margin of victory Monday night, the Lions also will be more prepared when they face a tough opponent Thursday." Look...just try to keep it close till the fourth quarter and see if they don't choke. Looks like they've lost to nearly every team they've played that actually has a pulse this year. It's hard to tell how good they really are. They scrapped by a Beaumont United team that was playing their first game ever as a school. United would probably kill them if they played again.

I wish the Hawks well, but I'll go with Yates by 20 something. HJ is gonna need a great shooting night and has to keep Big Boy out of foul trouble to have a slight chance. Gonna look like the second Silsbee game if they don't. They did miss some easy baskets and shot the three poorly against Silsbee most the second game. Maybe, just maybe, if they can clean that up something good will happen.

Haven't seen them play. There's a Youtube vid of them playing a game vs Sealy. Quality ain't good. I don't think they have a lot of size if their Max Preps roster list is accurate. They're probably screwed come Friday.

Good. No 3 that was on JV this year is gonna be a really good player. Raymond....something. Forget his last name.
-
Yeah..that's Martin. Don't remember all the kids just by their numbers. Wasn't sure if Silsbee brought any kids from JV up for the playoffs or not.

Who is #20?
-
By all means, rest the starters in the 4th.

I know I'm just being greedy, but I don't like Splendora having nearly 30 points on us right now. 65 - 29.
-
It's at Kountze? I thought is was at BH also. I would have made plans to go if it really is at Kountze.
-
The one thing that worries me about Silsbee is a bad shooting night against a team of about equal talent. I remember Silsbee shot the ball terrible two years ago against Argyle at state and almost lost. Could not make a 3 or free throw to save their lives till the 4th quarter. Luckily that was enough.

Lumberton 38 West Orange-Stark 35/FINAL
Tigers94 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
WO-S shot plenty of 3s in the corner against Silsbee. Can't speak to other games. They made a lot of them too in the first half. That and # 11 is what kept them in the game early on. With the athletes WO-S has, they should have a solid basketball program most every year. -
Splendora has decent record, but it doesn't look like they've played and beat anybody really. Saw a pic of the team. They look a lot like Lumberton to me. Unless they shoot 80 percent from the 3 point line or something, they're gonna get slaughtered come Monday.
-
From what I've seen of WH, they don't look like much. Of course looks can be misleading. Silsbee doesn't look like much to some other teams. I'd be more worried about a team like Decator or Kennedale. They're kinda flying under the radar. Looks like they have 6A size.
-
I'll say this for Lumberton. They actually looked like they belonged on the court with Silsbee in the 1st quarter. That's an improvement for them. One of their point guards (number 1, I think) played pretty well compared to last game. Don't know who they get in the playoffs, but maybe they can win a game.
