  1. Expect Silsbee to be out for the kill in this game right from the start. No letting up either. Treat it like you're playing Yates or Carter and there's no tomorrow if you lose. This should also be a good game to see exactly where Hardin Jefferson stands in the region. Wouldn't be a bad idea to make it out as early as you can for anyone going. We had people sitting in the walkway stairs for the WO-S game.
  2. Even if I didn't have to work late, I wouldn't have went to this one. Games like this do Silsbee no good. I don't like a running clock from the start. You're waving the white flag before the game even begins. Yeah, I know, HF was getting beat down anyways. Them kids need to fight hard for at least one half. Try something, anything. I think a drop to 3A is needed for them, but I don't know the school population. Dropping down worked out pretty well for Orangefield. Hope Devon is alright and has no serious issues.
  3. Silsbee has one or two on JV that could probably play on varsity now. One eighth grader may go straight to varsity next year. I would expect Silsbee to still go 3 or 4 rounds deep next year in the playoffs. When the current 7th and 8th grade teams are both in high school, then the real fun can begin yet again
  4. It's all about match ups. NS is big on the inside and plays good team basketball. They're exactly the type of squad that would give Silsbee trouble. Silsbee did lose to them in fall ball for all that's worth. Of course the Tigers did also beat Concordia in fall ball, but it's fall ball. I'm not saying Silsbee could never beat NS this year, but NS would be the favorites 9 out of 10 times. But look....who cares. North Shore has a student population pushing close to 5,000 kids vs around 750 for Silsbee. Give Silsbee about 4,000 more kids and I'm sure we could take them and Concordia down at the same time lol.
  5. Can't wait to see some of these kids playing in high school
  6. As much as I like my Tigers, I don't think they're beating North Shore.
  7. Yeah, I think Bush has some offers. and there's talent on the way in the 7th and 8th grade classes, so even when Devon and Jordyn are gone, Silsbee could be pushing state in about 2 years again.
  8. I'd probably rank Silsbee in the 15 - 20 range overall in the state.
  9. Feel like WOS could have a good basketball program if the head coach wasn't crazy. When you make Coach Brooks look fairly quiet and sedate by comparison, you have a problem. I don't like the way Silsbee just jacks up 3s and doesn't always get back on defense when the game is well in control. Lost the dunk count because of that. Need to keep the same intensity for 4 quarters, no matter the score or who is out there playing.
  10. Starters should see decent minutes in the 4th tonight. Dunk count now tied at 2 - 2.
  11. Man this WOS coach is a constant ball of rage lol. 71 - 49.
  12. 53 - 39 at the half. WOS has played about as well as they can. Big number 11 for them is pretty good.
  13. Jordan with a dunk. 43 - 27. Dunk count tied at 1 - 1.
  14. Packed house on the Silsbee side. 67 - 33 Final JV score.
  15. I'm not sure if it's mandatory or not for varsity to warm-up at halftime of JV games. Don't think it is. Devon is here. 49 - 26 start of the 4th for JV game.
  16. JV and freshman teams are combined into one team tonight.
  17. No freshman game? Is it because Silsbee may not have enough players? They've been playing with 6 kids. Still gonna get there kinda early. Hate having to hike up a hill just to get to the gym. I hate that parking lot period lol.
  18. WOS kid should have just let him have that one. He wasn't going to catch him in time to make a play on the ball. I really wish Silsbee were 12 - 15 deep. Out of kids who get good minutes, they're more like 8 - 10 deep. The end of the bench usually just pisses off Coach Sigler and doesn't do much else. Still better than last year as far as depth goes.
  19. The main thing Lumberton is missing is point guards that can handle a press. It doesn't help that they look like they're maybe 12 or 13 years old and under 6 feet tall. This was noticeable in the freshman and JV games as well. Lumberton's freshman team spent nearly as much time in their own backcourt than at the Silsbee end.
