  1. Gonna try to make this one after work. I just gotta say, no matter how this season ends, we owe this group of kids a very big thank you for what they've done. Nobody can ever say "good but never won anything" about Silsbee again. Silsbee also has a bright future with the current 7th and 8th grade classes. Can't wait to see the next generation balling in the Tiger den.
  2. It was a bad joke. Being serious for a minute. From a competitive point of view in favor of no shot clock, I would simply ask someone to show me all the teams that have lost ballgames just because the other one held on to the ball. If you can't do that, then I think it's hard to argue for one. If you couldn't take the ball from a team stalling, then maybe you weren't better. I personally hate seeing scores like this though. SA Wagner - 33 Warren - 30. That's high level playoff basketball at the 6A level from last year.
  3. But just imagine being a shot clock manager for Silsbee. Easiest job in the world!
  4. Yeah....its a shame he may not see more than one playoff game.
  5. Don't get me wrong, I certainly think Lumberton should do whatever it takes to give them a chance to win. I just don't personally like it myself.
  6. I rewatched the Carter/Silsbee game last night. That was one of the best games I've ever seen. Even the anouncers said so. Much more entertaining than Silsbee/Argyle. Don't see how anyone can be a fan of this stall ball garbage. Lumberton tries this on Tuesday, and I hope Silsbee shows them no mercy this time around. WO-S ain't gonna win with that coach. How many of his players even really care. He's probably done lost the team, so to speak.
  7. If the Silsbee from the HJ game shows up tonight, it'll be the Tigers by whatever Coach Sigler allows it to be.
  8. Except for the 4th quarter, Silsbee subs played pretty well. This is the Silsbee team I hope to see from here on out. You could tell just by body language they wanted to make a statement. Even coach Sig was more animated and vocal tonight. I like HJ's big man. He didn't look very athletic, but he was a force. They're gonna have to keep him out of foul trouble in big games. It was very obvious Silsbee was trying to get him in foul trouble on purpose. Other teams are bound to do the same thing.
  9. Silsbee bench did a good job holding it down in the first half.
  10. 21 - 6 Devon came to play tonight.
  11. Tiger JV takes a loss. 52 - 42.
  12. Silsbee down 24 - 20. Halftime.
  13. Not even halftime of the JV game and there's next to no place to sit on the Silsbee side.
  14. Tiger freshman lose 74 - 36.
  15. Already more than half full on the Silsbee side. JV ain't started yet.
  16. Outmanned freshman team is taking a beating. 46 - 13 Kids had better learn to hit those books.
  17. Bleacher steps. Could have been more clear, I guess lol.
  18. Expect Silsbee to be out for the kill in this game right from the start. No letting up either. Treat it like you're playing Yates or Carter and there's no tomorrow if you lose. This should also be a good game to see exactly where Hardin Jefferson stands in the region. Wouldn't be a bad idea to make it out as early as you can for anyone going. We had people sitting in the walkway stairs for the WO-S game.
  19. Even if I didn't have to work late, I wouldn't have went to this one. Games like this do Silsbee no good. I don't like a running clock from the start. You're waving the white flag before the game even begins. Yeah, I know, HF was getting beat down anyways. Them kids need to fight hard for at least one half. Try something, anything. I think a drop to 3A is needed for them, but I don't know the school population. Dropping down worked out pretty well for Orangefield. Hope Devon is alright and has no serious issues.
  20. Silsbee has one or two on JV that could probably play on varsity now. One eighth grader may go straight to varsity next year. I would expect Silsbee to still go 3 or 4 rounds deep next year in the playoffs. When the current 7th and 8th grade teams are both in high school, then the real fun can begin yet again
  21. It's all about match ups. NS is big on the inside and plays good team basketball. They're exactly the type of squad that would give Silsbee trouble. Silsbee did lose to them in fall ball for all that's worth. Of course the Tigers did also beat Concordia in fall ball, but it's fall ball. I'm not saying Silsbee could never beat NS this year, but NS would be the favorites 9 out of 10 times. But look....who cares. North Shore has a student population pushing close to 5,000 kids vs around 750 for Silsbee. Give Silsbee about 4,000 more kids and I'm sure we could take them and Concordia down at the same time lol.
  22. Can't wait to see some of these kids playing in high school
  23. As much as I like my Tigers, I don't think they're beating North Shore.
  24. Yeah, I think Bush has some offers. and there's talent on the way in the 7th and 8th grade classes, so even when Devon and Jordyn are gone, Silsbee could be pushing state in about 2 years again.
  25. I'd probably rank Silsbee in the 15 - 20 range overall in the state.
