  1. I saw that KJAS will be streaming games again this season. Are Ron Vickers and Johnny Mecom still calling the games?
  2. Agreed. Maybe that'll happen next year. My assumption is that we'll be in their district when realignment is announced in 2024.
  3. Spend some time at Rayburn if you get a chance...and go to the Cedar Tree Restaurant in town.
  4. I'm not one to post irrational stuff about Jasper and anyone that pays attention knows that. Coach Crumedy has historically run 45 ppg offenses and with that elite defense, the Dawgs should be a dangerous team. They'll have to prove that they belong in the "state bound" category and I think they will at some point, but I would be surprised if it happened right away.
  5. They're about 55 students bigger than Newton. It would be fun to see those two schools throw down,
  6. I'm interested to see how we do against Many. They were outstanding last year and played for the Louisiana 2A state title. If we're really that much improved over last year, we may not have much trouble with them. It's a tough scrimmage to read...
  7. When did JHS integrate? I would guess the overall level of play got better in a hurry at that point.
  8. Our old stadium is a couple of miles from the field house next to JHS and we bussed back and forth for probably 45 years. That's not really a huge deal, but it gave the players a few minutes of quiet time to reflect on what they needed to do. I don't remember ever hearing a peep on the way over there when I happened to be on the bus. We've got a really nice setup now for all sports, but I kinda wish a fraction of that money had been spent to improve the old stadium, add parking, etc. It was just an amazing place to experience games.
  9. Jasper's J.H. Rowe High School. I have a ton of love for the schools that were rivals of the Bulldogs, too, like Lincoln and Hebert. Bringing this subject up is a great idea.
  10. That was a rough year for us. We went 4-5 and had trouble scoring points. This '21 version of ours was similar in that way.
  11. I got mine in the mail about three weeks ago. I'm not sure why it takes so much longer to roll them out to the stores down there.
  12. I listened to that game. I think they shocked all of us. Why couldn't he have forgotten his helmet that night? lol
  13. Yeah. He got us really good in '82 when we had all of those shutouts. The '83 game was a slobberknocker though.
  14. I'm glad I watched that. Thank you.
  15. Coach Walkoviak told me once that the '80 team was his best one. There were several others that made deep runs in the early-mid 80s. Every Friday felt like a holiday, even when we played games that we knew would be blowout wins.
  16. I thought hiring Barbay was a great move at the time, but this should be a home run. I haven't ever seen this kind of excitement surrounding a new coach for the Bulldogs!
  17. He runs a high caliber offense that scores a ton of points. Couple that with a great DC in Malcolm Bronson and we're on to something. It may not ramp up immediately, but I think we're on the verge of something special for a long time.
  18. I'd run through a wall for that dude. He knows that there are high expectations for our program and I think he could do things that we've never been a part of. I'm ready. Let's go!!!
  19. I wish the UIL would just leave us in 9-4A. Going back and forth with the northern district (Carthage, Rusk, etc.) sucks. We belong in this district.
  20. gonelsons has to be a parody account. 🙄
  21. I'm hoping we'll see LU at a level that they could knock off some of the bigger schools at some point...or at least be able to contend for SLC titles every year.
  22. They would probably try to take St. Mary's with them. They have been one of the best mid-majors in the country for a long time.
  23. I'm a traditionalist, so a lot of this stuff goes against my sensibilities. Having said that, this idea would be better for LU than getting blown out by Duke in the first round once every few years. The NIT Tournament would be a lot more interesting if it was earmarked for smaller schools, but I wonder how it would affect a tiny school like Gonzaga.
