  1. He was right. That was a great team that got jilted.
  2. I remember that. Tech had some great teams back in those days. It was almost always them and LU at top of the old SLC. USL, NE Louisiana and McNeese had pretty good programs back then, too. That conference was deep...
  3. That would be a good choice since LU needs to get back to being a legit basketball school. How long could he do it, though?
  4. It's sad. I watched every game that KFDM had on the air and there was usually a nice crowd and a huge home court advantage. There's no energy at Montagne anymore. Tubbs was a program changer. How do they find a guy like that?
  5. James Gulley was almost unguardable on the block most nights. He and Tommy Sewell were my two favorite Cardinals back in those days. I wish I could have seen those Billy Tubbs teams, but Foster's teams were a lot of fun to watch, too.
  6. I wonder if the Lamar/Duke game from the mid-80's is out there somewhere. LU lost 66-62, but it was a dog fight. That would be fun to see again.
  7. He got pulled late in a lot of the games he played in because we were crushing just about everyone. He may not have had the most yards, but he might have been the biggest gamebreaker.
  8. It doesn't even make sense. If they do well this year, it will be in spite of him.
  9. Why would he even say that? Wow...
  10. I wonder what Reggie Davis did in '84. It seemed like he was breaking off huge runs like Chris was in '86.
  11. The could definitely do enough to be on par with a few of the other schools mentioned here, but how smart are they with that money? That's why the decision on the next AD is so important.
  12. Is that net income across all departments at LU or does the athletic department post its own financials that feed into the university's? I'm not familiar with collegiate accounting practices.
  13. My boy DBD is always stirring the pot. 😂😂
  14. Those old LU teams made me want to be a Cardinal when most of the kids I grew up with were dreaming of SFA, McNeese or SHSU (if not bigger schools). It never happened because I left the state, but I've always loved the program. I don't know what the solution is. Where's the revenue and fundraising that will add to the budget? How do they keep the local kids home? It just seems so far uphill...especially when times are so tough.
  15. It didn't take long for Toby Talk to take over this thread. I hope he gets a job soon so only the fans of that school will roast him instead of the rest of us. 😄
  16. I know that being a Jasper guy means we shouldn't like anything about you guys, but Coach T is great. Every now and then when Jasper has had open weeks. I would listen to your games on KOGT and I loved the postgame interviews.
  17. I'll let you play with them and stay out of it. It's kind of pointless to me to keep talking about someone that's not in Jasper anymore. Do your thing. Go Dawgs!!
  18. I have questioned what they were doing at times when the situations in games dictated more urgency, but I never said anything about them giving up or quitting. Barbay didn't always adapt the offense to be able to come back in games. We're all digressing at this point. He's gone and we need to move on...
  19. Jasper lost their OC right before two-a days if I remember correctly (who went back to the Spread from the Slot/Wing T that we had been running) and that along with a lack of game breakers and physicality on offense made that side of the ball a constant sore spot for us. I don't think anybody quit. LCM was more physical on defense than they have been in years and they just beat us. End of story.
  20. Judging by what you guys were saying in the preseason, LU had players that could compete at that level before injuries and Covid blew it up. I'm confident that Brooks can get more talent on the roster going forward and that they'll be in good position to be in the upper half of the WAC consistently. People will disagree, but he'll figure it out.
  21. Fair enough. It's not normal for them to fatten up their record on bad teams.
  22. I like Arizona for two reasons - their path isn't as challenging as the other #1 seeds and they're playing really well. Tommy Lloyd just might be the guy that gets them to the title game every 6-8 years. He's young and a great coach.
  23. How is Silsbee that low? 🤔
  24. Being in the WAC should make LU more visible and viable for prospective candidates. Every coach in the program will be on notice, if they're not already. There's a huge opportunity to improve quickly with the right person.
