That game with us last year was a slobberknocker!

I agree with you. I wasn't in Jasper yet when Coach Walkoviak was hired, but he was really young (29) when he got the job and hadn't been in coaching long. He obviously did more there than anyone ever thought he would in 1977. Anyway, Coach Crumedy was going to get a shot somewhere eventually and I'm happy that he's coming home. This is great for everyone involved.

I researched MaxPreps to get points per game in the six seasons he was the OC. Overall, those teams averaged 47 points/game. Some of those scores came from the defense, but this is still impressive. 2016 14 games 670 points 47.9 ppg 2017 15 games 719 points 47.9 ppg 2018 12 games 654 points 54.5 ppg 2019 14 games 689 points 49.2 ppg 2020 11 games 478 points 43.5 ppg 2021 13 games 512 points 39.4 ppg

I'll try to remember to post a new one tonight after the announcement is made. If I don't, DBD probably will.

That's what I mean by curveballs.

Jasper also wasn't the job it used to be when Darrell was hired. The fieldhouse was a revolving door and coaches were leaving left and right. At the time, bringing him in was as good a move as the higher ups could ever make.
-
He was referring to when Darrell got the job. I thought it was a great fit at the time and I really think he could have stayed in Jasper as long as he wanted to. He had more success there over a decent amount of time than anyone not named Walkoviak. I just hope they hire the best fit for the program, regardless of name or ties to Jasper. You know the level of athletes that walk through the halls as well as anyone, Coach. Greatness is right there in front of us...

I always felt like he was supported by the community as well, but I wasn't surprised at all when he left. Sometimes, it's just best to start fresh in a different place. There was some criticism about his ability to adapt schemes to defenses, but there weren't many people that wanted him gone. It seems like he felt like he hit what he thought was the ceiling of the program. I could be wrong about that because the double retirement thing probably had a lot to do with it, too. I think he'll win in Mansfield and I wish him well.

Silsbee vs Jack Yates Monday 7pm Dayton Predictions
Bulldogs92 replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Go if you can. I would if I could. Should be a great game. Silsbee will win 95-87. Book it. -
Haha. Hope it's who we think it is, but JISD is well known for throwing curveballs in these situations....
-
His offense and Bronson's defense would be a formidable combo. I don't think it would come together right away, but you never know.
-
Fair enough. Let's just say that he was the popular choice down there.
-
I'm still trying to understand Toby's situation. Everybody thought he was the obvious choice at WOS, which is the flagship 4A school in the area coverage until proven otherwise, but he's probably going to get passed over by Jasper. Is it twice now?
-
Crumedy's had a lot of success with it. We ran something similar last year with very different results. It seemed like the line wasn't physical enough and we didn't have a home run threat at tailback. I could be wrong, but that's what I saw.
-
What do they run on offense?
-
That's what DBD and I think, too. I also like Prouse.
-
Oh okay. I was obviously mistaken. Thank you all for setting me straight.
-
I'm on board with Crumedy, but what Prouse has done at Deweyville is impressive considering that they had never made the playoffs before he got there.
-
Beats me. It's hard to believe that few people wanted the Jasper job. 🤣
