I hope Buddy has cleaned up EMCC by now, but when you take on kids with character issues for the sake of winning that's what you get. They came down on his program pretty hard after the incident that you're referring to.

It's a polarizing issue, so naturally people are going to disagree. We're not the ones being combative here.

Silsbee posters might know the answer to that. I don't remember what happened other than the series being put on hiatus.

I just hope he gets help before he creates bigger problems for himself. He's already going to deal with repercussions from this for years that he never even thought about.

They're not messing around. I feel bad for the rest of the team, but a precedent and deterrent needs to be set so that stuff like this is talked about with athletes and it doesn't happen again without major consequences.

I was listening to a radio station in Dallas earlier when this topic came up. They mentioned a play run a long time ago somewhere in West Texas called the "Dead Rabbit" where a receiver starts hopping in motion yelling "SHOOT ME!" the whole way. The quarterback then starts making a shooting gesture at the receiver and the receiver plays dead on the field. While the defense is watching all of this wondering what the heck is going on, the quarterback goes under center and quickly takes the snap and pitches to the tailback going in the opposite direction and scores an easy touchdown. I got a good laugh out of that story. What's the wildest trick play that you've heard of?

That's what I told him! He told me that he was a Lee fan before he started high school, but his parents moved and he had to go to Sterling. This was in the late 70's.

I work with a guy here in Albuquerque that went to Sterling, but he's a Lee fan. Kinda weird. Anyway, should be a good one. I'll take Lee 28-27 in a reversal of last year's score.

I forgot about him. He moved to Diboll after Hurricane Rita. Great player.

Mitchell was something else. Ben Bronson brought us back in huge games against Liberty and Huntsville back in my time there, too.

Carthage would beat China by a million. Most of those kids don't even know what a football is. 🤣

I remember someone saying at one time that WOS put their best all-around football players on defense and focused more on keeping people off the scoreboard. We have enough athletes in the program that we should be able to find 11 guys to do that AND enough to run a good offense that can score. CB made a good point about our quarterbacks, though. We haven't had many historically that are dynamic enough to overcome deficits. Jasper has to become a defense-first program from the top all the way down. It's the only way we're going to have a chance. Walkoviak knew that and we went toe-to-toe with so many teams because of that. WOS guys from that era know how good those Jasper teams were. We were nasty on defense and we need to get back to that.

The Jasper football program is like the pretty girl that's bad habits drive you freaking nuts, but you're ugly and she loves you, so you put up with her issues. 🤣 It's time to move forward like some of you have that follow other schools. Who's back for the Bulldogs next year? Is there any word on whether the schedule will be similar to what this season's was supposed to be? Are we even gonna be penciled in as the #2 team in district behind Carthage? We're losing Adams and Limbrick to graduation, so the offense is going to take a hit, but Smith made all kinds of plays on defense as a freshman and it'll be exciting to see him grow in the next three years. How will the coaches adapt to what they saw against the better teams that the Bulldogs played? Will Coach Barbay change the philosophy at all?

I'll take the Bulldogs by 2 touchdowns. 35-21. China Spring is very good, but Carthage is on a mission.
