You two Silsbee guys are unbelievable. Most of us Jasper guys have been very respectful to you, even when some people would question why we do it. Show some class.
-
I'm not that surprised. Going in, I thought that it would be a close game. No one saw this coming.
-
This is bad. We look totally unprepared....again. We've been outcoached and outplayed.
-
Why haven't they merged? That makes too much sense.
-
Not sure how much of an upset that would be, but I'll be upset if you're right. 🤣

Update from UIL regarding COVID for state title games
Bulldogs92 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
That's unfortunate, especially for the seniors. They weren't going to win that game, but that's a tough way for those kids to go out. -
Nice job, Coach! Sounds like you're gonna have a pretty good season.
-
I think China Spring is better than their record says they are. They're gonna give us fits.
-
Yep...and they're still a contender. Great coaching job...
-
Jasper wins 41-6 and they'll play China Spring next Friday @ 7:30 in Crockett.
-
Wow! If it's not a record, it's close.
-
We appreciate the support. Go Trojans!

La Marque and Bay City were a lot to handle back in those days and I don't think we beat either of them in the playoffs. I can't believe how far the Cougars have fallen.
-
Either of those teams could beat us if we're not ready to play. I've kinda taken the first round for granted the past couple of years because we played the 4th place team in the Golden Triangle district, which is usually very top-heavy.
-
I agree. There aren't going to be any easy bi-district games for anyone in our district outside of Carthage.
-
Coach Barbay was saying that he thought it would be Waco Connally after the game the other night. I think either of those teams (the other being China Spring) would be a tough first round game for us.
-
I agree with you as far as the consistency of athletes goes in Jasper. I was really high on Coach Barbay when he came back in 2012, but I don't know that he'll get us where we need to go with the way we play. It's good enough to win a lot of football games, but we should at least be capable of winning every game and we're just not. I think he's doing a good job all things considered, but we need to set the bar higher.
-
Agreed. I think the 2018 team was quite a bit better. With that said, Carthage is a juggernaut. They could go up a couple of divisions and still be contenders.

Games like these are tricky. On one hand, a lot of Bulldog fans would like to see the offense get opened up some so that Adams and the receivers can build some chemistry going into the playoffs. A 50/50 split (or even 30/70...🤣) in play calling would give future opponents something to think about and still allow Jasper to flex some muscle for a half or three quarters before the young kids get some run to finish out the game. On the other hand, our typical approach works against teams like Madisonville. We're physical enough that we can lean on the Mustangs all night long and do what we need to do and still have stuff in our bag for the playoffs. Whether we use those tricks later is always debatable, but why put stuff on film now if we don't have to? Our defense has played well the last two weeks, but I would like to see a little more ball hawking and more turnovers. That's the difference between championship caliber teams like Carthage and teams that typically peter out against championship caliber teams (Jasper, Silsbee (😁), etc. Hey, man. Until we prove otherwise, it is what it is. Jasper's #4 state ranking suggests that people consider them a contender in Region 3, at least, and they'll take care of Madisonville by a score of 41-6 on Friday night. Let's go Dawgs!

That's crazy! How is a team that bad and what's the point of putting up 97 on them?
-
I think he meant "you" as a general term. Not you specifically.
-
Final: Jasper 42, Shepherd 6.
-
35-0 at the break.
-
There are some gullible people on this board. 🤣

It's frustrating for sure. It feels like the district is just settling for a ceiling of getting 2-3 rounds deep every year. It's much better than the few years before Coach Barbay got that job, but there's no reason to settle for just being good every year. Those kids deserve an opportunity at greatness and so do we as fans and alumni. How do we get there?
