I don't know that anything guarantees the success that we want. It's probably gonna take lightning in a bottle.

Is it possible that what he would prefer to do on offense is different from Darrell's philosophy?

It's gonna be hard to find a guy like that who's interested in that job. It would either need to be a coach on the rise from a smaller school that runs a different system or maybe a successful coach that has been out of the game that wants to get back into it.

China Springs leads 38-12 going into the 4th quarter. They're gonna give the Mustangs all they want next week.

I agree with you. I like Barbay as a person and I think that he cares about the kids that he works with, but I don't think he'll get us where we want to go unless we have a couple of blue-chippers coming up in town somewhere that can advance the program. He's a decent coach, but not the great one that we need.

We're in a tough spot. Who can we get to come to Jasper that will turn things up a few notches?

I said most of us.

You two Silsbee guys are unbelievable. Most of us Jasper guys have been very respectful to you, even when some people would question why we do it. Show some class.

I'm not that surprised. Going in, I thought that it would be a close game. No one saw this coming.

This is bad. We look totally unprepared....again. We've been outcoached and outplayed.

Why haven't they merged? That makes too much sense.

Not sure how much of an upset that would be, but I'll be upset if you're right. 🤣

That's unfortunate, especially for the seniors. They weren't going to win that game, but that's a tough way for those kids to go out.

Nice job, Coach! Sounds like you're gonna have a pretty good season.

I think China Spring is better than their record says they are. They're gonna give us fits.

Yep...and they're still a contender. Great coaching job...

Jasper wins 41-6 and they'll play China Spring next Friday @ 7:30 in Crockett.

Wow! If it's not a record, it's close.

We appreciate the support. Go Trojans!

La Marque and Bay City were a lot to handle back in those days and I don't think we beat either of them in the playoffs. I can't believe how far the Cougars have fallen.

Either of those teams could beat us if we're not ready to play. I've kinda taken the first round for granted the past couple of years because we played the 4th place team in the Golden Triangle district, which is usually very top-heavy.

I agree. There aren't going to be any easy bi-district games for anyone in our district outside of Carthage.

Coach Barbay was saying that he thought it would be Waco Connally after the game the other night. I think either of those teams (the other being China Spring) would be a tough first round game for us.

I agree with you as far as the consistency of athletes goes in Jasper. I was really high on Coach Barbay when he came back in 2012, but I don't know that he'll get us where we need to go with the way we play. It's good enough to win a lot of football games, but we should at least be capable of winning every game and we're just not. I think he's doing a good job all things considered, but we need to set the bar higher.

Agreed. I think the 2018 team was quite a bit better. With that said, Carthage is a juggernaut. They could go up a couple of divisions and still be contenders.
