I HOPE so. I don't disrespect any opponent, even if we're not supposed to like them.
-
Nobody knows. I even said that.
-
We all need to grow up and quit speculating about what would have happened had the game been allowed to continue. Nobody knows any of that because it didn't happen. Silsbee deserves respect because they took our shot early and figured out how to get back in the game. Jasper is going to give opponents fits if they can play a little smarter and limit turnovers. Both of these teams are going to win a lot of games this year. Hopefully, we'll see you guys in November.

I'm not sure what the UIL rules are in this situation. Is it really going to count since they didn't get to halftime? I'll take it either way, but Silsbee had Uncle Mo on their side at the end. Playing it out could have gone either way.

Pretty cool!

My family was friends with the DuBoses while we were there. Small world. lol
-
That sounds like a lot of fun.
-
Could very well go that way. We have a new kicker this year that doesn't seem to have the same leg that the last few have had.
-
Can't wait for this one. I'll take Jasper 28-27 in a classic.
-
Praying!

That's not good. You guys are normally well-coached. Hopefully they will figure it out.

That's not really surprising. I've heard that a lot of town is still without power and it may not be restored for a few days. I would think that Barbay would schedule somebody and play a road game. He''s done it before.

Wow! Didn't see this coming at all. Hopefully, Diboll will learn from this and get better. They earned my respect for what they did to us last year.

Jasper / Coldspring / Evadale Scrimmage

I'd love to see you end up being right. We've been waiting a long time. Region 3 is stacked as we all know... -
Jasper / Coldspring / Evadale Scrimmage

Save your BS for someone else. Nowhere in that write-up did I ever say anything like that. I've said before that Jasper will probably lose a few games because of the tough schedule, but they might be better at the end of the year than they have been the past two years. I'd be shocked if the Bulldogs got past either WOS or Carthage in the playoffs. -
Jasper / Coldspring / Evadale Scrimmage

I just watched the video and neither team was any match at all for Jasper. The announcers pointed out that the Bulldogs won't have as much depth this year as they have in the past two or three years, but man are they fast! The second-string offense was effective for the most part against Evadale's first-team defense, but the QB-center exchange was pretty ragged as there were at least four fumbled snaps. The running game was solid and there were a couple of nice pass plays mixed in. I was really impressed with the second-string defense. One of the defensive ends (#81) was in on everything and the Rebels had all kinds of trouble moving the ball. The Bulldogs first-team was pretty sharp in both the controlled scrimmage and the two timed quarters against Coldspring. The offense scored touchdowns on the first three possessions and will be run-heavy as usual. The top two guys are going to be a pretty formidable combo and can score from anywhere on the field. Jasper didn't throw much at all, but they had some success and should be a little better in the passing game than in years past. The defense was pretty stout for the most part, but the Trojans managed a score in the half that they played because of a Jasper penalty that got them into scoring position. Overall, it was a good night for us considering the long lay-off from football. I'm hoping we'll have football in Lumberton next Friday night. As usual, the weather plays a huge role in things early in the season. You guys make sure you're prepared for whatever comes. God bless... -
2020 SETXsports.com Team Previews - JASPER BULLDOGS
Bulldogs92 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Normally, it's pretty easy to go into a season and know what you're gonna get from Jasper. This year is a total crapshoot with that schedule and everything that's going on outside of football. The Bulldogs could play really competitive football against all of these good teams, but still go 6-4 and be a Darkhorse going into the playoffs. -

THAT was a football game! All defense all game and a late Jasper turnover gave the game to the Mustangs! That happened again a few years later. -

I respect what the district is doing, but they should have come up with something better than this. Like you guys said, that defense will always be intimidating no matter what they're called. -
If he can do that. we'll have a great year. I know there's still a lot of depth in the backfield, but I'm curious to find out how to lines play.
-
That's very true. I hope Carl Limbrick is ready to go. He's the straw that stirs the drink this year.
-
In my opinion, that top 10 is pretty dang strong and I'm actually surprised that Jasper is ranked at all with them being so young. They could go 5-5 or 6-4 after playing a much tougher schedule (for once) and be a better team overall than last year's group. It'll be interesting to see how they develop and which guys step up to lead them.
-
Nah...just a lot of diarrhea of the brain.

I just noticed that you're pretty bullish on Jasper this year. Are you feeling okay? We're going to be very young this year, but the schedule is tough and the subvarsity teams have been really good. The Dawgs will be better prepared for the playoffs than in years past, even if the record doesn't indicate it...but getting to the third round would be a good start for this group. I would expect more in 2021 and 2022.
