It's hard to go against Newton when Silsbee's defense is suspect. Having said that, Silsbee will play better this week, but the Eagles will pull away late.

Newton should probably shut it down on offense. There's no point in scoring anymore tonight.

Seale was something else. He and Willie Cade were monsters on Jasper's defense in those days.

I remember Jasper beating them 82-0 in '89 and then losing to them a few years later. They have athletes, but coaching makes all the difference in a place like that.

A friend of mine on Facebook said that Jasper scored on each possession during the live portion of the scrimmage and that QB Trey Adams accounted for four passing touchdowns and ran for one as well. He didn't say anything about the defense, but I'll see what I can find out.

As Forrest Gump once said, he likes to use the F word....a lot. LOL

I agree. It says a lot for someone to be so hateful to begin with, so his actions at the end didn't surprise me a lot. Brown's not a likeable guy at all, but a coach with some class would have never said much about him outside of his coaching ability.

I actually kinda liked the guy from Coahoma CC that was featured in Season 2. His team was terrible, but it was evident that he cared about the players and wanted it to be a good experience for them. I'd like to see what he could do with better players, but recruiting kids to play there has to be really tough...

I'd like to see Netflix feature a good human being as a coach for two years. Buddy Stephens is a good coach, but not a great person and Jason Brown was all about Jason Brown, let alone being an awful coach and person. I know having not featuring a narcissist would hurt ratings, but I'd still like to see it.

I don't have a problem with Jasper at #4 at all. They won't have a chance to prove otherwise until the West Orange game and if they win that one in Orange, they'll be deserving of the top spot. The schedule is pretty weak prior to that.

I've always had a healthy respect for your town and its fans and I'm sure a lot of fans around the area would say the same thing. The Mustangs are always good and they will be again this year. There's no need to call out everybody for something very few fans do. Have a good day, young man.

Pulling for Jasper's John McMillon and his Red Raiders to win the whole thing, but several of the teams that got in played better than Tech did over the weekend. It's gonna be a fun CWS, though!

AMEN, brother! I'd rather play Silsbee three times every year than anybody else once. They can line up in a Walmart parking lot for all I care!

Jasper has to schedule better non-district games going forward. I'm guessing that we'll be in a similar district going forward that has been weak in the past and that ended up hurting us in the playoffs.

I remember Coach Harper well. He had the Mustangs rollin' back in the day! I hope Coach Williams can return them to their glory, but that's a big job...

RIP, Coach. I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but you definitely touched my life. Prayers to his family and to the Newton community.

I remember all of those guys very well. Just a ridiculous amount of talent for one class. Zack Bronson and Clyde Williams were on that team as well and both of those guys spent time in the NFL.

Yep. It's unfair. I can't tell anyone of color where I'm from without getting a double-take. It was that way when I was in Denver right after it happened, in my 12 years in Seattle and the entire time I've lived in Albuquerque. Everyone knows about it.
