WOS fans: We are very aware that we need to throw the ball better to contend for a title. It wasn't necessary to throw much in this game. Our pass defense needs improve though. Didn't expect to give up 250 in the air.
-
I don't blame you all for being frustrated. I always give credit where it's due and I've respected WOS since day 1 back in 1986. I expect the Mustangs to be back to normal very soon, but I also think that Coach Barbay may finally be putting something great together that we haven't seen in Jasper in a very long time. I hope we keep playing you guys. I think this rivalry is gonna ramp back up to the level it was when it started.

Wouldn't be surprised to see these two meet again down the road.
-
Hunt 20 carries for 352 yards and 4 touchdowns.
-
Jasper runs out the final 9:56 on an 80-yard drive and ran power-I every play. Final is 34-24 Jasper.
-
There's still a lot of football left. Both coaches are great at making adjustments, so the second half is gonna be a brawl and I still expect it to be close at the end. All of that means nothing if Hunt keeps going...
-
Jasper leads 27-16 at half. Hunt has 212 yards rushing.
-
Mustangs score on a 2 yd run. Jasper's having problems with penalties. Jasper scores 2 points after WOS fumbles on their 2-point conversion attempt. Jasper leads 27-16 with 1:19 left in the 2nd quarter.
-
Jasper goes 3 and out. Mustangs will get the ball with about 1:45 left at their 16.
-
Jasper get a pick to stop the Mustang's latest drive.
-
25-10 Bulldogs after the PAT.
-
Hunt does it again. That's 5 carries for 208 yards and three TDs in the first half!
-
Montavien Hunt is something else.
-
Great start. How long can we keep the momentum?

Final: Jasper 41. La Marque 6
-
The Cougars are way down, but Jasper is dominant in a way that they haven't been in a very long time. It's good to see...
-
Sorry I'm late. Pretty good first half for the Dawgs. Didn't expect it to be 41-0. Wow.
-
This game was probably scheduled at least a couple of years ago when LaMarque was more competitive and we've got WOS next week. Barbay is doing a better job of scheduling than he has in the past. I don't think he's scared of Newton at all. He's part of the Newton family and it's probably not something he wants to do for that reason. I'd love to see it happen, but I'd be surprised if it does other than the scrimmage every year.

Gonna be a good one for sure!

I know there are a few Lions fans on here, but as you would expect, they're quiet. Before last Friday, they had beaten Jasper four straight times and it's never good to see a program struggle like they are right now. I think they'll beat Huntington, but it'll be close and sloppy.
-
WOS 56, BC 0. They're gonna send a resounding message that they're still one of the best teams around.
-
It's interesting how DCTF has Jasper ranked #2 in 4A-DII, but they're not getting votes yet in the 4A AP poll. I guess we won't see that unless we beat WOS next Friday, which is far from a given. Records don't matter when we play those guys.
-
LaMarque has struggled out of the gate, but I have a feeling that they're gonna be ready to go this week. Does Jasper keep rolling or could this be a trap game heading into the showdown with WO-S next week in Jasper?

What makes a great Texas High School Football Program?
Bulldogs92 replied to TexasPanther2012's topic in High School Football
That same thing has always been true in Jasper, too. We don't always get the results we want and the relationship isn't always what it needs to be between the powers that be and the athletic department, but we've always had athletes. Getting everybody focused on one goal always helps and it looks like that's starting to change. -
No. If I remember correctly, a lot of Cleveland's players quit before that game. We were ranked #1 in 4A going into it. Total yardage was like 750 to 10.
