This game was probably scheduled at least a couple of years ago when LaMarque was more competitive and we've got WOS next week. Barbay is doing a better job of scheduling than he has in the past. I don't think he's scared of Newton at all. He's part of the Newton family and it's probably not something he wants to do for that reason. I'd love to see it happen, but I'd be surprised if it does other than the scrimmage every year.
I know there are a few Lions fans on here, but as you would expect, they're quiet. Before last Friday, they had beaten Jasper four straight times and it's never good to see a program struggle like they are right now. I think they'll beat Huntington, but it'll be close and sloppy.
It's interesting how DCTF has Jasper ranked #2 in 4A-DII, but they're not getting votes yet in the 4A AP poll. I guess we won't see that unless we beat WOS next Friday, which is far from a given. Records don't matter when we play those guys.
LaMarque has struggled out of the gate, but I have a feeling that they're gonna be ready to go this week. Does Jasper keep rolling or could this be a trap game heading into the showdown with WO-S next week in Jasper?
That same thing has always been true in Jasper, too. We don't always get the results we want and the relationship isn't always what it needs to be between the powers that be and the athletic department, but we've always had athletes. Getting everybody focused on one goal always helps and it looks like that's starting to change.
No. If I remember correctly, a lot of Cleveland's players quit before that game. We were ranked #1 in 4A going into it. Total yardage was like 750 to 10.
Montavien Hunt runs for his 4th TD of the first half. 2 point conversion is good off of the swinging gate. 36-3 Bulldogs with 4:42 left in the first half.
15 yard TD pass from Womack to Jackson after another Livingston turnover. 28-0 Jasper with about 1:50 left in the first quarter. The Lions have fumbled at least 5 times already, mostly because the QB can't handle snaps out of the shotgun.
