Not that I am aware of, but I am sure there are athletes in Livingston who just need to be set up to succeed.
-
The turnaround in Huffman, in this same district, should signal hope into the folks in Livingston. Hire the right guy, and this thing can turn around on a dime. It was only a few years ago that Livingston was very competitive and, I believe, had a playoff berth. They have some good young groups in the pipeline if a program is built and ready to roll. There is a coach who lives just West of the TX/LA border, who is currently coaching just West of the TX/LA border, who would be a great hire to begin building Livingston back up. I'm very interested in seeing who ends up with this gig.

I am not sure about that, but I keep hearing he will be back for sure if they make it to the second round. Almost makes it sound like the issue isn't an injury, but maybe grades. Not sure about that so take it with a grain of salt, but the lack on injury details and the assurance of his return at a specific time makes me lean toward that hypothesis. -
TIME TO FLIP THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Most in this discussion are missing the point, the TXHSFB State Championships have become a major event. It is now a weekend long celebration of the entire season and can never again move to venues that cannot support it to be held in the same manor it is held now. That means, whatever stadium holds it must have at least 4 locker rooms, ample seating to absorb fans watching the game playing as well as the fans filing in for the next game scheduled and must have adequate parking and hotels nearby to hold fans and teams. From what I understand, the only other venue in the state that can manage that is the Alamodome, which is an aging and antiquated place. It ain't moving!! -
My sons and I have been doing a football podcast for the past couple of seasons where discuss and recap football from all levels, with a heavy lean toward TXHSFB. It's a great way for us to spend time together centered around something all of us love and get excited about, while also helping them learn a useful skill for life as they grow into young men. This week, we have scored a couple of really big interviews, and I wanted to share the link with you all just in case anyone was interested in giving it a listen. The interviews and scheduled releases are listed below. Huffman Falcons HFC and AD Joey Buchta - 11/13 Huffman Falcons Jr. QB Nolan Cook - 11/14 Episodes will be live on Spotify and Apple Podcasts sometime during the evenings on the two dates. If you are a coach or player and would be interested in appearing on the podcast, please send me a PM here on the site and we can set it up. Please like and subscribe to the show to get alerts when the conversations are available for you to listen. Happy Football!! Look us up in the Spotify or Apple Podcasts apps if you are interested in listening, I am not able to make links post on the site!!

True. Catapulted him down 3 classifications to take on that powerhouse Liberty job.

I'd say they're pretty similar. Terrible football school that recently moved up in classification due to expanding enrollment and has no chance to compete anytime soon. Can you tell me what is not similar about them?

TIME TO FLIP THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

You seem a touch dramatic. One of the most incredible things about the PNG fan base is how well they travel, and I always thought that was something which was a great source of pride for their fans. According to you, everyone is upset about having to travel and needs an advocate to support them in their fight for less travel. Good luck to you. -
TIME TO FLIP THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

This is nonsense. The games are at AT&T because it is the crown jewel stadium in the state and brings in thousands of fans year in and year out to enjoy the games, whether their home teams are playing or not. My family has attended 13 years in a row for the entire weekend. Kids all over the state grow up praying for the opportunity to play in that stadium and it is the only stadium with adequate locker room space to host all the games in a single location. NRG was an absolute disaster last time the games were hosted there so it will never return. Also, Jerry Jones is a great host for the UIL and has been a great partner in platforming TXHSFB for the rest of the nation. -
Huff. Hargrave (9-1) vs. Chapel Hill (7-3)

Huffman has undergone a wholesale culture shift over the past year. Younger players who have won their whole life have begun winning again and have their swagger back. They have morphed into a hardnosed, tough group of ball players who have more fight in them than most outside of the walls of the field house thought was there. They will be a game opponent for CH and I truly believe this game will be closer than most will think. Huffman has a chance to win the game but must be patient, control the clock and keep the mistakes to an absolute minimum. I was not aware of the injury issues with CH, but it really shouldn't change anything for Huffman. Game plan will be the same. Heavy dose of 12, sprinkle in some 11, move the chains with 0 and explode occasionally with 4. The defense is stout will be challenged to keep the speed of CH bottled up. The coaching matchup is the most intriguing part of this matchup for me. The infamous Rio vs the new kid on the block Buchta. Coach Buchta has shouldered a ton of criticism over the past two seasons, some admittedly from me, but has silenced the doubters by adding the missing element to this program, culture. He has built culture and excitement in the program over the past year and this week's game might just be his introduction to the rest of the state. The community has returned to Falcon Stadium each week and is packing the house in support of this team. The biggest edge Huffman will have on Friday night is this game being played in Huffman. This is a HUGE deal for a first-round matchup against a team with the pedigree of CH and just might be the thing that gives Huffman the ability to get over the hump. I am extremely excited about this matchup and feel confident in saying it is a must-see game for all Falcon fans, and TXHSFB fans in general. -
Yeah, this job is a career killer. Maybe it's a good chance for some out of state coach who just wants to get a shot at coaching in Texas. I'm not sure, but much like Splendora, I'd assume any coach who can actually carry water would consider this job radioactive.

TIME TO FLIP THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Negative. There is only one place the state championships should be played in the great state of Texas, and that is at AT&T. If a team can't get ready to play the state championship game, no matter where it is, they shouldn't be there. North Shore has had plenty of success against Duncanville in the game, despite it being in DVille's back yard. -
Man, I'm on the struggle bus with the double posts. Gotta fix the mistakes and be better! LOL
-
I think this is what I am most excited about with this game. I mean, Huffman thinks they're good, I think they are good, but after Friday, everyone should know for sure. The key is #12 Sawyer Jamison. He is what makes this team go with this touch running and ability to break the first two to three tackles when he carries the ball. If he gets going, it'll be a fun one and I think Huffman actually holds the advantage if the weather gets bad.
-
I totally agree with everything you are saying, I'm just planning to assess after this week's game against LCM. There's something a little different about this HH squad, but this also will be the first battle tested team they will line up against this season. I feel like I'll know a lot more about their playoff chances after they finish a game against a team who punches back.
-
That's a little steep IMO. HH has the thing going to right direction and CH is playing below expectations. Let's see how the standings shake out and this can be revisited in a couple of weeks.

Palestine Westwood/SEC rules no forfeitures, AD/HC suspended

Kinda hoping Westwood wins the State Title now. I love a FU story! lol -
Should be an interesting matchup. Even if Barrier is less than 100%, Anahuac should roll. Hardin will be fired up and trying to prove that Barrier should have stayed there, but it won't matter.
-
Nolan Cook has entered the chat.

They are considered overachievers because of the turnaround from last year. Truth is, with a different head coach, this team is talented enough to be making a title run this year. Instead, I'd assume a second-round loss is in the cards.
