  1. Anahuac wins by two TDs. Orangefield can't slow down the Anahuac offensive attack and Neece and company will have the Anahuac D ready to roll.
  2. You could be right on all of the above, who knows. I don't know the family as well as my posts might suggest, I just know what I've been told and know their reputation around the area. Good small town folks.
  3. However you want to frame it, he asked for certain assistants and was told no. Whether it was no because they didn't want to hire, or whether they said no because those he was trying to bring in weren't "math" teachers or whatever. Bottom line, if Hardin was committed to building the football program, they'd do whatever they had to do to keep quality coaches and players in the program, and they don't/didn't. As far as the AD being someone who has been around there for a while and he carries the title for stability, if the issue was the AD changing every 3-4 years because the football coach would leave, now you can bet on losing a football coach every 1-2 years without that AD title to make him want to stay around. And for the record, Hardin would be able to keep an AD/HFC more than 3-4 years if they'd leave him alone and let him do his job. Give him what he needs, support the program, and tell your board members to stay out his personnel decisions, and they might actually keep one for a while.
  4. Negative hammer. There was a guy on here once saying he was a cousin, but he ain't me and I ain't him. Just a guy repeating what he was told by one of Hardin's finest supporters and sellers of Ford vehicles. Not sure where that guy roams these days, but I assure he is lurking.
  5. Eh, this isn't even close to true. Dad didn't bolt Hardin to give QB better chance at success only, but also the chance to have an excellent high school football experience, as well as a chance to win. Brady would've had success at Hardin had they stayed, but he would've always been limited in his ability to make a real run at BIG success. Brady can do well at Anahuac and get all the exposure he wants on the summer camp circuit. It is much more important to his parents that he get an education and get to experience life as a well adjusted kid, rather than bounce from high school to high school for exposure. Only way he ever leaves Anahuac is if Coach Dad gets an opportunity as a AD/HC somewhere in the next 4 years, and I honestly don't think he would do that to Brady. Panthers got this one for the long haul. Now, rather than overanalyze a 15 year old country kid's future, lets just enjoy watching him develop and lead a pretty good Panther squad through the rest of the season!
  6. The coach is more than qualified to hold any job on Anahuac's staff, including HC. He just happens to have son who is an excellent player. I'd say having top tier coaches as his dad and grandpa, who have raised him in field houses since his infancy has a little something to do with 5s ability.
  7. And the best opponents they will see all year were in those first 5 games. Sky is the limit.
  8. THIS. It must be maddening for Bird to see his old friends dragging him like this in public forum because a down program is losing games. If I were him, I'd find the first train out of town when the season ends.
  9. Please. We both know he was under pressure from the board and the community. As for your other comment, who care about Louisiana HS football.....lol
  10. Two weeks ago he was doing great and finally listening to the 1979 dads in the crowd and making good adjustments. What changed?
  11. From what I have gathered, it was a question of resourcing the program in the way that could set them up for success in the future. Barrier needed more assistants in order to elevate the program from a coaching perspective. Keep in mind, Barrier wasn't even the AD at Hardin, just the HFC. That is another issue and made it extremely easy for him to leave to be an assistant in another district. It wasn't like he was walking away from an administrators salary to take an assistant role at Anahuac. The younger Barrier is a generational talent and would've been the best player Hardin football had ever seen, and his dad is a damn good coach also. I am not sure anything would've been able to keep them there, but Hardin didn't even try. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Hardin has too many hands in the cookie jar over there. Small town politics at it's finest. Board members and parents who are not realistic in their expectations. They let Anthony Morgan get out of the gate years ago, and Barrier will be the next one they will regret for decades.
  12. Anahuac is much better than anyone is giving them credit for. They hung tight for three quarters with a Newton team who has a win over WOS this season, and handily beat the #9 team in the state, New Waverly, a couple of weeks ago. I expect them to roll through this district and by November, they will have garnered some attention state wide. Playoffs are always a crap shoot so we will see how that goes, but this is the beginning of the ascension for the Panthers. They have a Freshman QB, who may very well be the best QB in that district, and several sophomore skill players who are playing like seasoned vets. If you are a Panther fan, expect many deep runs and potential AT&T visits in the next 4 years.
  13. Well heck. You'd think every school in the state would take advantage of a deal like that.
  14. I have a friend who is in the know on these types of things, and he has told me it's pretty expensive for these districts to contract with Texan Live. Especially when most schools are now supporting AV departments who are capable of streaming live on YouTube for much less. Anahuac does this on their channel "Anahuac Sports Live", and the video and audio quality is significantly better than what you sometimes get on Texan Live.
  15. Or, Bird made the decision on his own because he's a good coach. Not because he heard it from the stands. Maybe?
  16. You still upset with Bird's unwillingness to ruffle feathers, his choice of QB, or his poor coaching decisions that have led to kids leaving the program?
  17. No one said he was going to be run out of town, but stating the obvious, the hire will be questioned more than it already has been if these types of beatdowns continue. It doesn't get any easier once district begins.
