  1. Huffman has undergone a wholesale culture shift over the past year. Younger players who have won their whole life have begun winning again and have their swagger back. They have morphed into a hardnosed, tough group of ball players who have more fight in them than most outside of the walls of the field house thought was there. They will be a game opponent for CH and I truly believe this game will be closer than most will think. Huffman has a chance to win the game but must be patient, control the clock and keep the mistakes to an absolute minimum. I was not aware of the injury issues with CH, but it really shouldn't change anything for Huffman. Game plan will be the same. Heavy dose of 12, sprinkle in some 11, move the chains with 0 and explode occasionally with 4. The defense is stout will be challenged to keep the speed of CH bottled up. The coaching matchup is the most intriguing part of this matchup for me. The infamous Rio vs the new kid on the block Buchta. Coach Buchta has shouldered a ton of criticism over the past two seasons, some admittedly from me, but has silenced the doubters by adding the missing element to this program, culture. He has built culture and excitement in the program over the past year and this week's game might just be his introduction to the rest of the state. The community has returned to Falcon Stadium each week and is packing the house in support of this team. The biggest edge Huffman will have on Friday night is this game being played in Huffman. This is a HUGE deal for a first-round matchup against a team with the pedigree of CH and just might be the thing that gives Huffman the ability to get over the hump. I am extremely excited about this matchup and feel confident in saying it is a must-see game for all Falcon fans, and TXHSFB fans in general.
  2. No.
  3. Yeah, this job is a career killer. Maybe it's a good chance for some out of state coach who just wants to get a shot at coaching in Texas. I'm not sure, but much like Splendora, I'd assume any coach who can actually carry water would consider this job radioactive.
  4. Negative. There is only one place the state championships should be played in the great state of Texas, and that is at AT&T. If a team can't get ready to play the state championship game, no matter where it is, they shouldn't be there. North Shore has had plenty of success against Duncanville in the game, despite it being in DVille's back yard.
  5. Man, I'm on the struggle bus with the double posts. Gotta fix the mistakes and be better! LOL
  6. I think this is what I am most excited about with this game. I mean, Huffman thinks they're good, I think they are good, but after Friday, everyone should know for sure. The key is #12 Sawyer Jamison. He is what makes this team go with this touch running and ability to break the first two to three tackles when he carries the ball. If he gets going, it'll be a fun one and I think Huffman actually holds the advantage if the weather gets bad.
  7. I totally agree with everything you are saying, I'm just planning to assess after this week's game against LCM. There's something a little different about this HH squad, but this also will be the first battle tested team they will line up against this season. I feel like I'll know a lot more about their playoff chances after they finish a game against a team who punches back.
  8. That's a little steep IMO. HH has the thing going to right direction and CH is playing below expectations. Let's see how the standings shake out and this can be revisited in a couple of weeks.
  9. Kinda hoping Westwood wins the State Title now. I love a FU story! lol
  10. Should be an interesting matchup. Even if Barrier is less than 100%, Anahuac should roll. Hardin will be fired up and trying to prove that Barrier should have stayed there, but it won't matter.
  11. Nolan Cook has entered the chat.
  12. They are considered overachievers because of the turnaround from last year. Truth is, with a different head coach, this team is talented enough to be making a title run this year. Instead, I'd assume a second-round loss is in the cards.

  15. Not sure why this lesson has been so hard to learn for teams this year.
  16. WOS is looking like they may be formitable again. I think we will see more proof on Friday.
  17. At this point, I think we can all agree that one of the most stunning turn arounds in SETX is in Huffman. An absolute great start to the season, but their biggest challenges remain with LCM and Bridge City still on the schedule. QB Nolan Cook, RB Sawyer Jamison and WR Kurtis Felder headline an offensive group who have exploded onto the scene, Defensively, the Falcons have been pretty stout and are being led by Jake Tinnin, Christian Erb and Rice commit Will Swartz. What are your opinions on this Huffman team and their ability to continue winning through district and potentially into the first round?
  18. PNG should plan to get their reps in, get out healthy, and let the JV play the majority of the game.
  19. I'll put my money on a running back named Stankovich any day of the week.
  20. Hey! That's the FBC Hardin pastor you're talking about there! lol
  21. Willis High student, brother accused of assaulting basketball coach (yourconroenews.com) Yep, it was.
  22. Wasn't it Willis where the varsity basketball player and his brother jumped the coach in the parking lot after the game?
