None of the guys mentioned have a recent title game appearance and a motivation to remain in the area long term. If KV isn’t pursuing Barbay, they’re traveling in the wrong direction.

Hopefully the people of Beaumont understand that this decision is what’s best for the kids and the city. Hanging on to tradition at the expense of bettering yourself is foolish. Time to do the right thing.

BISD can invest the money in the building and, even in the case of a merger, use it in another capacity. This isn't about a lack of facilities as much as it is about an opportunity to do what should've been done long ago. No need for three high schools in Beaumont and this is a convenient excuse to make that a reality. it's the right decision.

They are going to do everything in their power to ensure the people of Beaumont do not get to reseat the very people that single handedly oversaw the destruction of BISD. I am not sure how accurate your source is, but I can assure you all that the TEA is considering all options at this point.

I'd probably drag my feet too since the citizens of District 2 reelected Zenobia Bush, and the citizens of District 4 elected the son of Woodrow Reece who wasn't even sharp enough to file to run for the district he lived in. Obviously the citizens of those two districts are fine with the corruption of the previous board and BISD's fragile condition cannot handle any of what they've had for the past several years. The TEA should ensure the current BOM holds on to their position until the people living in Beaumont can pull their heads out of their rear ends and ensure that their children's futures are taken care of.

Not to mention the potential to take that third FB coach salary and split it between the two 6A schools, allowing them to actually pay a 6A salary to the football coaches. The names that might jump at the chance to coach a combined Central and Ozen squad for a competitive salary might shock us all. Plus, a district matchup between WB and "the school to be named later" would be something to look forward to year in and year out. This is all positive. Finally a BOM that truly cares about the kids and the future of BISD rather than their own interests.

Those who will hold tightly to the history of Central need to loosen their grip. I'm all for history and tradition, but the merger makes the most sense for the kids, and for the financial viability of the district. Once they merge, they will pass a bond and build a new high school that will be fabulous. The kids that have been dealing with sub par facilities and technology will have state of the art facilities and technology. The bad teachers will be weeded out leaving only the best of the best from each campus. Education quality will rise, opportunity will rise, student success will rise. It's best for all involved. Let the tradition argument go.....it's not valid.

Exactly. WB enrollment sits at 2400 ish currently. Two equal schools = best plan available.

It's done. The merger is being planned as we speak. The discussion is revolving around how to handle the backlash regarding the loss of tradition and history at Central.

Maybe HJ and Kountze should switch coaches. It might be time for a homecoming.
