I will never understand the mindset of a parent who thinks teaching their kid to run from competition is what is "best for the kid". Stay and fight it out, if you lose the position, find somewhere else to contribute and help the team. This soft azz mindset is what is wrong with the younger generation and it's not even the kids fault. I am old enough to remember when football was a game that taught life concepts and grew boys into men. Now, it's just like every other sport and treated like a meal ticket for parents, regardless of what the underlying consequences of those decisions may be. Everyone looks for quick returns on investment instead of working to prepare these kids for the tough breaks in life. Makes me sad.

Anahuac will run through district and make a healthy playoff run. Write it down.

Yeah, so hard core Crosby he moved his son to BH because he couldn't compete. Also, I hear a lot of those kids he grew up with are putting horseshoes on their helmets next year. I guess we will see.
-
If Robinson doesn't win the job at Crosby, where will he go then? Maybe Liberty?
-
This is insane. What a waste of a football career for this young man. A sophomore and has already run away from two situations where he could compete for the job. Unfortunate, because I heard they were high on him in BH, but it's unreasonable to think a school like BH would designate a Sophomore as their starter in the Spring of his Freshman year. Pitiful.

Sophomore move back in? Not the kid who left because Prieto's boy was there, is it?
-
Yes. He was offered by Central Michigan at the end of last week.

Unfortunately for Mr. Berry, it seems that every candidate he latches onto and endorses ends up losing their race. There was a long period of time where he wouldn't endorse at all, and still doesn't in many races, but he has latched onto a few candidates here recently. As much as I enjoy his show, it's clear often that he is operating off of pure opinion and rumor with no real basis for the things he says. As far as Phelan goes, I was not a supporter, but lots of folks were. Lots of influential BMT local politicians were pushing Phelan and that was probably enough to get him over the finish line. Roy West in particular had a huge hand in him winning Jefferson County by the margin he won. To me, it's as simple as that and not as underhanded as Berry would have you believe.

And he left for a private school. Yikes. Either he pissed the wrong school board member off, or it's a move for family reasons.
-
Yikes. Another young coordinator will get his first shot to go 1-9. Where's Smithey heading?
-
Honestly, I hope this means he is making a move to 11-man football. I'd love to see how he could compete at the 11-man level and I am sure it would do nothing but help him recruiting having some 11-man film to distribute.

Bridge City hires Andrew Daspit

These folks stake their careers on the performance of 16–18-year-old kids. If they're not making decisions for "the success of the program", they shouldn't be in those positions. -
Isn't a lot of his movement tied to his dad oscillating between jobs?

Just that list alone very impressive. HJ has a situation on their hands with this hire. -

Just for the record, No one owes anyone else an explanation for why they made the decision they made. The admins in charge were hired to make decisions based on their best knowledge and for the success of the program. They are not required to explain, in detail to the community, why they did what they did. -

This one will be interesting to watch. HJ should be able to pull some pretty big fish into the mix and I am sure the community will be very vocal in their candidate of choice. -
Yeah, this is actually a great move if it is the move.

But that's not what you said. You said if a "kid doesn't like how coaches are running a program" they can make their own decision. A kid not wanting to play anymore is one thing, a parent letting a kid stop liking the sport because of disagreement with how the program is run is completely different.
-
He actually had a pretty solid year for a sophomore starting in that district. I can assure you, it hasn't hurt his recruiting at all and that will only improve with the move back to the Wack.
-
You said a lot there. Truthfully, that is the root of the issue. Who cares what a kid thinks about how coaches are running a program? Kids play, coaches coach. For some reason, parents have this backward in a lot of places and its wreaking havoc.
-
This is true in typical communities. Unfortunately, Jasper has a recent history of trying to run off pretty good football coaches in the name of scratch and sniff ball.
-
This is an easy one. We have let grifter unqualified coaches infiltrate our children and convince them that they will be D1 athletes if they only focus on a single sport. We've got kids, with single digit ages, playing their sport year-round to "maximize exposure" despite the fact that most college coaches on the recruiting trail will value a multisport athlete. This translates to the school year and ends up with kids being football, basketball, baseball only kids. Track is pretty much the only one left that keeps kids playing other sports and that's primarily because football coaches demand their football kids be track athletes. I literally talked to a man last night, who just moved to Texas from Oklahoma who was telling me his kid played on two different football teams during the season last year. One for his school, one for his select league. During the week the kid was a RB for his school, and on the weekends, he was a QB for his select team. This would equal 7 days a week of full contact football for a 6th grader......6th grader. Once that ends, rolls straight into 7 on 7 for the spring and back to football in the summer. All this for a kid, who seems to be a good athlete, but probably has a ceiling of D2 at best, if he doesn't burn out before that. Parents are silly and think they can develop their kids into being the next Quinn Ewers, but they completely miss the biggest factor in creating that type of athlete.....genetics. Genetics are undefeated. Always have been, always will be. Play sports because you love to compete then compete in everything you do. Quit giving bullsheet rings to "state champions" every single weekend all over the US and get back to valuing team championships won at the community level to build the continuity when they are young. This is the only way to reestablish the pride once felt by every kid in every town across Texas when they got to put on a uniform with their school colors. Otherwise, we can kiss the magic of high school sports goodbye.

It's only a matter of time before the baseball mafia starts greasing the tracks to run Crumedy out of town. It'll be a dang shame too, but mark my words.

This is absolute fact.

Not Cornel, but same general orbit.
