  1. The fact that you keep calling them "Gilmer Harmony" tells me all I need to know. Go look at the records, strikingly similar to Orangefield over the past several years. With the exception of the State Title appearance and deep playoff runs they've had in the last two years. Wonder what the difference was in those 2 years?
  2. This is probably the primary reason the chirpers above didn't feel like he was a good "fit". Might get in Little Johnny's way of being the first air raid QB in the history of the Orangefield program. Either way, I do not know Coach Breaux, and I wish him the best of luck. I just can't get over the fact that a coach with state championship experience applied for the Orangefield job and didn't get it. That's probably the darndest thing I've ever heard on this site! If they'd do a little research, the reasons he has had so many job changes are understandable and clearly worked to advance his career. His oldest is heading to Lamar and his younger son is about to be a freshman. Sounds like a pretty good shot for, at least, a 4-year term. If he delivers to Orangefield in those 4 years what he has delivered in Harmony in his 2 years there, I promise you the candidates for the job next time would be significantly better than the list they had for this opening. But, hey, we gon' run da spread!!
  3. Jeff Joseph to be named new HC at Nederland.
  4. This. Tell me you don't know anything about TXHSFB without telling me you don't know anything about TXHSFB. Just because "Gilmer" is attached to Harmony doesn't mean Gilmer Harmony = Gilmer. Setxathlete14, you just outed yourself as one who truly has no idea.
  5. I wish your son the best of luck in his new spread offense, but passing on Jenkins, who did what he did in Harmony in year 1, will be a legendary mistake in the coming years. Orangefield had a chance, but let the Little League Coaches of America get in the way of making a decision that could've advanced the program long term. They will reap what they've sown.

  7. Passed on Jenkins......write it down, this will bite them in the arse.
  8. LOL!!! All sports huh? Boy oh boy, this is shaping up to be an absolute disaster in Orangefield. I've never understood the rationale of hiring a HFC and AD who wasn't a high level football guy just becuase he might throw the softball team a bone. His primary job is HFC. Let him go 0-10 for three years, while making the playoffs in all other sports, and see how quickly he gets run off. If Jenkins is on the list, and they hire anyone not named Thompson, Joseph or Kay, Orangefield deserves what they get.
  9. Going out on a limb here, but if the Harmony coach wants to come to Orangefield, they'd be insane not to give him the job. He has had a noted track record of success at each stop he has made and recently made a run to state. I cannot imagine there is another candidate on their list who is as credentialed as him.
  10. Or if you change nothing about PNG over the last two years, and Nederland was 2-0 in the MCM game during that time, Nederland would still have their coach.
  11. Matt Stepp is a treasure, sir. You watch you dirty mouth!!!!!
  12. Foreman would be a great hire for the Bulldogs.
  13. Any word on the Huffman girls basketball season? I know this is a talented group but their record isn't necessarily reflecting that. Any one have any idea what's going on there?
  14. The real issue with the transfer portal isn't the portal itself, it's the student athlete's addiction to the attention the recruiting cycle brings, and the portal gives them an avenue to scratch that itch. These kids are made into mega starts as youngsters, then they sign, and if they do not achieve stardom immediately, they retreat back to the process that made them feel like a star in the first place. It's really easy to get used to being the big man on campus when you are heralded in high school but takes another type of dude to realize that it takes serious hard work to gain BMOC status at the D1 level.
  15. This is pretty simple if you understand the culture in LH. The varsity staff works with all coaches at all levels, even into little league, to teach the Slot T offense. The varsity coaches have monthly meetings with the little league coaches and get scouting reports on players coming up through the program so when they get into the 7th grade, the coaches already know who is who and who plays where. It is taught the same way in the 4th grade as it is taught at the varsity level, so the kids understand it and want to operate in that offense. Any dads who think their kids are going to be division 1 receivers and QBs take their kids elsewhere so that the only ones who are left are the ones who are committed to thriving in the slot T. This is the product of consistency in program leadership for many many years and the commitment of that leadership to build a successful program from the bottom up. Therefore, to replicate what LIberty Hill has is absolutely impossible without long term commitment and community buy in. Vidor has/had too many folks always looking for a reason to run Matthews off and complaining about the Slot T to even begin to try to replicate what Liberty Hill has.
  16. So who is going to file the formal complaint against DISD regarding basketbal? Ya know, there's this saying about glass houses.....
  17. What was the last offense Bridge City had real success in? Wasn't it when Dubose was there? Didn't he run the Slot/Wing T?
  18. I thought Stark had done a pretty good job at Hemphill. Was that not the sentiment of the community?
  19. Todd was more busy organizing "white outs", ordering custom jackets and shoes, and talking about breaking the attendance record than he was preparing his team for the game. That is why SOC was beaten when they took the field. Bravado and flash are all fun and games until you get punched in the mouth. And don't forget walking onto the field to start the game. Humble pie isn't easy to swallow when you relish the spotlight as much as he does. Hell, I'll bet he had his afterparties already set up like he did last year. Some of the videos from the parties he was at after last year's game made me lose a lot of respect for him as a leader of men. Pride always comes before the fall Coach Todd. There is a new Sheriff in 5ADII.
  20. I'd think the PNG folks would have a legitimate gripe with having a Nederland grad officiating their game. Bottom line is this, that call didn't cost them the game. It was the right call and wasn't made by the official who lives in Port Neches. Todd sounds like a crybaby bringing it up.
  21. So your argument is that Jason Todd's coaching is not up to Jeff Joseph's level? That's nonsense. Todd can run with the best of them in the state and then some. Of course you have to have talent, but coaching is what makes talent successful. Lots of talented teams are going home early every year because of subpar coaching. Not too many great coaches are making early exits because they lack supreme talent. Of course, there are also those coaches who coach 5 division 1 defensive backs and even that level of talent isn't enough to ensure they can stay on the sidelines......
