  1. 3 high schools in 3 years for the young man......can't imagine his family would be in favor of that.
  2. I read that article too and thought the same thing. No mention of aligning the district with subvarsity teams as was stated earlier in the thread. The guy basically just said they were trying to get out of one of the toughest districts in the state so they could make the playoffs. Not a good look at all.
  3. You are correct, it is not little league coaching to strategize to stop the opponents best weapons, but it is little league coaching to assume that strategy was not part of the game plan coming in. I assure you, the entire BH staff knew about the biggest weapons on the Richland team as of late Friday night of last week and were scheming to shut them down. That plan was in place and wasn't properly executed. Sometimes, the other team is just better than you. Do I believe Richland was the better team overall? No. Do I believe they were the much better team in the second half and executed their game plan to perfection? Yes. Blowing big leads in the second half is indicative of players who take their foot off of the gas and aren't up for the challenge of fighting back to the accelerator when they get punched in the mouth. Richland proved they have those types of kids, BH has proven several times this year that they don't. Abseck's biggest challenge in the offseason is trying to produce a little dog in his guys so they know to put their foot on the neck of a downed opponent and finish them off. This point was illustrated by highly criticized 2 pt conversion try in OT. It was the right call because Abseck knew what I knew while watching the game, if the XP was kicked, and Richland was given possession, they would've scored and punched in the 2 for the win. BH's only shot of winning that game was to put it in a position where Richland couldn't control the ultimate outcome of OT.
  4. Boy, all the little league coaches are out in force on this thread. Do you guys not think they watched plenty of film and game planned for what Richland would do offensively? Do you not think the BH coaches built that game plan in such a way that if it was executed properly they believed they were in the best position to win? Varsity coaches rarely call a time out and tell their players to "crash every play" and "hit #1 in the mouth whether he has the ball or not". Those are things you say when you call a timeout during your 9:00 am game full of 4th graders on Saturday. The story of this game is the letdown after halftime and how momentum is a mother. It's hard to blow a huge lead like they did and be able to plug the holes in the boat in real time. The coaching staff did a excellent job all season and just got caught in the second half on Friday. Back to the drawing board for BH.
  5. When this guys said "they don't have the size on the OL to continue this Slot T mafia offense", it was clear he has no idea what he is talking about. Keep talking about the glory days pops and leave the coaching to the guys who know what they're doing.
  6. Can you explain why this one and not the Jasper/Silsbee matchup? I'd just be curious to hear your rationale.
  7. Yes. Me and you both know that was a false narrative.
  8. The loss of last year's QB is clearly hurting Anahuac.
  9. The rumors of Hardin's demise are greatly exaggerated. Doesn't mean Snell won't retire after this year, but also means she may stay aboard for one more ride with the kids coming up.
  10. They're expecting HISD schools to grow in enrollment? I thought they were a dying brand and people were fleeing to other districts?
  11. Isn't former Beaumont Enterprise sports writer David Berry on the coaching staff at Wisdom?
  12. I do not know Ware, so I am not personally involved in this at all, but I think you guys are making a major mistake going this route. He has brought this program back from the trash heap it had been for many years prior to last. His only mistake was being a year or so ahead of schedule by winning last year and causing the fan base to expect immediate improvement from that new bar. He hasn't only invested in football, but has been adamant about program growth at every level. From AV, to culture, to expectations, and now he is becoming a victim of those same expectations. All I will say is, be careful what you wish for, because moving him along right in the middle of the ascent of this program could waste every bit of talent you all say is not being utilized properly.
  13. I'd gladly come pick him up and move him down the road if he wanted to make a change. Trust me, the grass ain't always greener.
  14. It’s time to circle the wagons at WOS. Clean house and bring in a staff that understands the Mustang tradition. Toby, DPG, Bevil…..bring them all back and rebuild what’s been torn down.
  15. LOL!!! And this is how Dayton goes back into the crapper. Go ahead and start dragging him through the mud if you want to, but if you do not think he could pick up the phone and be needed elsewhere, you are sorely mistaken. He's building something there and if you are not careful, he could get sick of the BS leave the job unfinished.
  16. It's the process of learning how to win and be a winner. They'll get it, but it'll take some time for the cut throat culture to settle into a program that has become accustomed to getting their teeth kicked in.
  17. Probably should've signed that NIL deal with Dayton in the offseason.
  18. I guess I should temper what I said, I can also see a path where what you've said above becomes true, and I certainly hope you are more right than me. I do take exception to one thing you've said though: I believe the Needville/Navasota/Columbus stretch Huffman is about to have won't be nearly as tough as the Lumberton/Vidor/LCM stretch that will happen to close out the district season considering that two of those three are on the road, and those three opponents outscored Huffman 145-57 last year. It also bears mentioning that the three coaches Huffman will be facing those weeks are named Reyes, Dubois and Peevey.
  19. A lot to a little. There can be brighter days ahead for the Falcons, but I do not think this will be the year for those. They begin next year when this Sophomore group becomes Juniors. The Falcons have to get the athletes walking the halls back out in pads, and there has to be a full culture shift around the program. Football tends to be an afterthought in the community and the only way to fix that is to drum up excitement about being a Falcon. It can be done, but will take lots of work to build what needs to be built in Huffman. Do you disagree with that or see something I do not see?
  20. This will be an absolute boat race by Silsbee. I am afraid the wheels begin falling off for the Falcons this Friday, and it just gets progressively worse as the season goes on.
  21. How many need to be on here regularly before we would be able to coax you out of retirement to run this thing again!!??
