I wonder if the HD vs Hardin game had not been cancelled, would Hardin still be picked by many to beat Huntington?

GCM RB BJ Peterson goes off for 150 yards and 2 TD's! Kid was special as a Freshman at Hull-Daisetta!

One of the longest tenured rivalries in the State of Texas. HD vs WH goes all the way back to the 1930's, when the WH school was called Saratoga. The Hull-Daisetta vs "West Hardin" series is almost 50 years old. These two small towns are about 6-7 miles apart, which as you can imagine, causes a heated rivalry for bragging rights. HD leads the last 48 contests with a 39-9 record. The stands will be packed with both these communities. Unfortunately, the hurricane ruined some SETX football seasons, I'm sure some local area fans may come out to see this country brawl! So, who y'all got?!

Hardin at Liberty Scrimmage/Post comments here!
H-D BOBCAT 55 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
Liberty looked big at their practices. Sounds like Hardin did better than expected vs Liberty. Did Hardin spread them out and air it out? -
Hull-Daisetta's former star Freshman RB BJ Peterson moved to GCM. Kid is a future All-State RB, he rushed for almost 1,600 yards as a Freshman at HD on varsity, at only 14 years old. He comes from a family that has had many talented track and football stars. To bad they moved to GCM... Kid is special.

Mackey played lol, HD's Dalton Robinett played a good game against him, picking off a deep pass to Mackey at the end of the game. Mackey was a beast!
-
Iola came to play that night. HD had a tough night.

Not sure why Evadale is ranked higher than Hull-Daisetta. HD went into Evadale and defeated a very good Rebel team. I do believe Evadale should be ranked, just not higher than HD.

The thing is guys, the kids chose to quit the team and walk away... Every season in the past, including the first day of 2 a days for the current AD, HD had a respectful 40 plus kids in 9-12th grades show up. "A month later", especially at the first preseason game we had about 25 kids total.... At the same time we about 40-50 boys participating in band... That goes to show HD has the numbers to have a JV football team and protect the future. The question that we need to answer is, why are the boys no longer wanting to play football.. Also, let's compare WH the HD rival about 8 miles down the road and same size school, WH had over 40 kids participate and had a JV team, eye opening... You have to look at historical data for HD football and look at the number of actual available kids, HD has around 90 boys, only 20 were playing football at the end of the year. I can tell you HD, WH, Colmesneil and most small schools have historically had an average of 40-50 kids in grades 9-12 combined, participate in football every season, allowing for 2 teams, a JV and a Varsity. We need good parents who care, asking these questions... Why are the kids dropping off the team and others just not choosing to play like usual? I recently had one of the assistant Coaches from Finney's HD staff call me, he verified there is no reason why HD shouldn't have 40-50 kids turn out in total every season. He stated they did every year he was there, which was just a few years ago, actually they had about 55 kids a season. It is mind blowing some good folks don't care or just don't understand the issue. I challenge folks to pull the enrollment for boys in the school, then look at the boys in band, then go research all the boys that no longer play football, but did the day Finney left, it is mind blowing. Guys the kids already had this issue going on, we HD alumnus just starting seeing the light. My only prayer is that we can get our kids to come out and build our culture back up. It would be different if recently the HD culture was garbage like so many of these posters want folks to believe. Let's not forget, just 3 seasons ago, HD was back to back undefeated District Champs and narrowly lost by a few points, twice to Alto in the playoffs. Lots of folks would have you believe HD is shutting the doors any day. lol. We are not folks, the roller coaster does have it's ups and downs... I am rooting for our current staff and the kids. I agree wins and offensive formations don't mean a hill of beans compared to our kids and their future. HD NATION!

Hey Donald Trump, the year book shows 89 boys lol... SMH, you gotta be from Saratoga or Ace lol... Go troll another site... The Hills Have Eyes... lol
-
We have had 40-50 kids total every year in 9th-12th combined prior to this AD/HC, heck Hodges had that at his first practice... Month later about 25 total remaining... With our regular 40-50 total kids we could always divide it by two and have a JV team. You are very clueless... Guess if you paid attention to prior post. That is only 10-12 kids a class participating, not asking a lot... Right now we have about 5 boys a class participating on average... No JV the last two years, two many boys walking the hallways choosing not to play...
-
All I see is a bunch of gibberish... I can only lead you to water... SMH... You sound just like Hillary Clinton. I give you an "A" for effort. You are making incorrect statements above, be careful... I was never against the Finney hire, I was against the board electing to not even grant Bird or Hodges an interview. You may want to talk with Howard Fregia, Laconda Fregia, Donald Robinett, Katey Robinett, Mr. Cruz, Sedric DeBlanc, Yevetta DeBlanc and David Coruthers just to name a few, they all had public altercations with the current AD at football games and track events, where all involved were talked to by the Prinicipal or Superintendent.... Oh and pal, all them lurkers you speak of know where to find me! I would love to talk with you in person about this topic, I tried to reach out to you, you declined.... lol. I thought we had a better rapport than this...

Ole bud, it is about the kids walking away, not the wins lol. It is about the kids... Seeing multiple kids get kicked off the team when we desperately need a JV, multiple families relocating to a Hardin or Liberty because Hodges and them had a knock down drag out. It is expected for some knot heads to get thrown off the team, as well as some families to has issues with an AD/HC, but not as many issues as we have had with this AD... I have said many times Bird is a great man, actually we is the one thing holding our 20 total players together... What is saddening is, at the games on Friday nights, you can count all the boys in the stands that grew up playing football and even tried to play for Hodges, then look on the field at our 20 players, which 10 of them are 9th-10th graders that should be getting reps on JV... The big one is the High School parking lot, about 25 yards from Hodges office, daily there is about 20 good size athletic boys that just hang out by their farm trucks while football practice is going on with our 20 players... Bottom line is, where there is smoke there is fire, Hodges was handed the baton with roughly 45-50 kids returning to participate in football, he has managed to run off over half... Guess they were all bad kids.. SMH... I will not accept that and stand by as a man destroys what others before him have worked hard to build. I have stood by and supported many of our past AD/HC's as they only won a few games, but were able to have 50 plus boys turn into men under their guidance. It's about the future, keeping it going, long after these particular Coaches are gone. We need a JV, we need ALL our youth to be excited about playing sports for their school. It's not about winning ole bud, that would be nice, but I will take what HD has had for about 100 years, kids that all want to be Bobcats..... HD NATION! GO BOBCATS! Don't be so sure about them Bobcats losing to your ole Hornets. I am praying our AD/HC wins every game and even has 40 kids come out. I am excited to see what 2 a days brings us... If our boys come out, I will be happy. Recently folks have seen ole Hodges being a lot nicer and more of a people person... Amazing what a little pressure can do, when a person knows everybody is watching...

Scat, to have to swallow my pride and admit we made the wrong hire, especially when I campaigned and did all the leg work for him to be here... Just like a friend or family member that helps gets you a job in a plant or refinery, they expect you to perform at work, business is business, leave friendship at the gate... I will always respect and like both men personally, but I wouldn't care if HDBobcat9 was the Coach(my brother best friend for over 30 years), if he were jeopardizing the culture, tradition and future of my beloved school, he would hear about it. Any man worth his weight would understand and appreciate that stance, not sull up and get feathers ruffled... My opinion is based solely on what I have seen with my own eyes, interviews in parents of players, both former and current, as well as random citizens. Scat I know it to be a fact, your opinion is based on blinded family members and close friends to the staff, with one being the life long best friend of Coach Birdwell's... I truly hope our AD/HC is successful and HD's student athletes start participating. I will be in the stands at every game rooting our boys on like always. Bottom line is, the citizens of HD and Raywood had seen our culture and participation numbers improve drastically for 3 straight years, then the last two years we not only didn't keep the momentum going, we got worse... It's all about the kids, not your buddy or acquaintance keeping a job they are not performing in as advertised...... I will say it again, I have nothing personal against either men you mentioned, I would again help both men in any way I could. When the Friday night lights come on in HD Texas, I will be supporting EVERYONE on the sidelines and the field wearing red and black.... HD NATION!!!!!! Good job on the Liberal post above, lol.

I just saw this post lol. For the record I did not start this petition. The person that started the petition, presented it to the school board. Funny how folks are unaware that I was the biggest supporter of Coach Hodges and Birdwell coming to HD. I was the person both Hodges and Birdwell called when they heard Finney was leaving. I personally obtained every school board members email, and emailed both Hodges and Birdwell's resume to the board.I personally emailed the Superintendent endorsing Hodges and Birdwell, forwarding their resumes, being that I had been Coached by Hodges and grew up friends with Birdwell. I was the person who allowed Hodges and his kids to stay in my house, as the hiring process unfolded, as well as breaking bread with Hodges and his kids for over 2 weeks, on my nickel... Funny how I am the bad guy lol. All I want is the HD student athlete participation numbers to not decrease... All I want is our kids to feel they have mentors/leaders to lean on... I have seen the participation numbers go down and seen the kids that walked away... They are not hard to see, walk out to the parking lot or anywhere on campus, as practices are going on... You will see 20 or more boys that used to play football, just chilling... I will support any Coach that wears the red and black, I love my HD Bobcats. Furthermore, I will also do what I can to protect the HD students and our tradition. I wonder how many of the posters on here actually read the petition? P.S. Scatright, you have known me your whole life, it is very distasteful to believe one sided stories and not ask the horse himself for all the facts... What is crazy, is that I reached out to you... HD NATION!
