1. I think the proper question is, why do student athletes enjoy playing for Coaches? Or in this case, why did our players enjoy playing for prior staffs that were here? The words fun, family and love come to mind. When human beings believe you care about them, they will run through a brick wall for you. I had a Coach in Russell Roberts who was able to master the art of "tough love", the problem some folks have is they forget the love has to come before the tough...
 2. Good post, I agree with 90% of it. The only part some folks are choosing not to address is the fact that the players were there, then they walked away(over 40 to 25)... Several students refuse to play for the current AD. I really wish it was just a few families crying wolf, but it's a high number of families. Maybe all those dozens of boys that walk the halls and chill ouside in the parking lot after school, will play ball this season. Maybe HD will win District or come close, maybe we win a playoff game. Scatright you definetly have drunk the same koolaid I did over 2 years ago, you are buying in. I'm sure a few folks close to the regime have nudged you a little. It seems you are very close minded on the subject, I hope after next season, you are singing the same song. IMO some of you should take the blinders off, spend some time at practices, visit with the former and present football players, talk with the parents, just listening will open the eyes of folks. Once football season gets going, it doesn't matter if 200 hundred folks signed a petition or what offense we run, myself and all true Bobcats will back any student athlete or MAN wearing the red and black. I personally hope I have to eat crow and Hodges gets our culture back. Many loyal HD Alumnus are closely watching... HD NATION! P.S. If HD would have lost to WH last year, we would ALL be talking about who all has applied for the HD job...
 3. Yall seem to be missing the point and principle of the matter. Let me answer a few of your questions and break this topic down with facts, not assumptions. Under the Barbay regime: HD had over 50 kids show up for the first day of 2 a days. (Grades 9th-12th total) HD had over 50 kids still participating at the start of the football season. JV & Varsity teams. Under the Slack regime: HD had over 50 kids show up for the first day of 2 a days. (Grades 9th-12th total) HD had over 50 kids still participating at the start of the football season. JV & Varsity teams. Under the Finney regime: HD had over 50 kids show up for the first day of 2 a days. (Grades 9th-12th total) HD had over 50 kids still participating at the start of the football season. JV & Varsity teams. Under the Hodges regimes first season: HD had over 40 kids show up for 2 a days (admitted lower numbers). (Grades 9th-12th total) HD had a mere 25 kids still participating at the start of the football season. No JV team. Under the Hodges regimes second season: HD had roughly 25 kids show up to 2 a days. (Grades 9th-12th total) HD had roughly 20 kids still participating at the start of the football season. No JV team again. Here are the numbers broke down per grades: Available Freshman boys: 17 total, only 7 participated. Available Sophomore boys: 20, only 8 participated. Available Junior boys: 24, only 4 participated. Available Senior boys: 28 only 8 participated. That breaks down to 89 total boys available in grades 9th-12th, only 27 participated, with 62 choosing to not participate. Now that we see the current regime, was handed basically the same ingredients the prior regimes had, why are all these kids walking away from the program. It's not uncommon to have a turnover rate, but not at this drastic of a number. Now to answer direct questions: Scatright question: "If we keep a two year revolving door on the position, and keep running off coaches because they don't run the offense we think they should run, we will never achieve the level of investment that it takes to build a program". You missed the point totally, it has nothing to do with an offense, it's all about having a future at HD for our kids. The number up top should be alarming for all true Bobcats. No JV for 2 seasons straight kills our future, and strips young kids of their reps to get better, along with enjoying the game of football. Most eye opening is why are our young children choosing to walk away... I hope HD has a JV this season, I hope HD has a winning season under Hodges. Realistically HD could go 2-8 again and have a third season with no JV team. Bottom line is, I want to see our kids excited again and chomping at the bit to play football, to enjoy life as a student athlete, making life memories. Old school, at HD 27 kids total in grades 9th-12th coming out is very uncommon and unacceptable... Oh and Scatright, there is and will always be interest in Coaching at HD. I
 4. Gotta love when the Director of this site accuses folks of stuff... Last I heard about 70% of HD was leading in that effort you speak of. All I know are the facts, I seen with my own eyes the last 3 regimes at HD had over 50 kids turn out for 2 a days, this current regime had over 45 kids I counted myself, show up the first day of practice two seasons ago, a month later only roughly 25 kids remained. That my friend is a problem, along with no JV team both seasons under this current regime. Having no JV means having no future. Someone made a moot point in regards to our JH participation numbers in the past, being the cause of our current low football numbers in High School. That theory doesn't make any sense, proof in point, HD now has one of the largest bands in our area for the Schools's size, funny thing is 90% of those band members never participated in band as JH kids... I counted 89 available boys in grades 9-12, only 28 elected to play football for this current regime last season. Eye opening. We have elected leaders and folks in places to help change our course for the better, will they do whats right or forever be connected to the downward spiral of HD football... P.S. For the record I have nothing personal against our current regime. I actually campaigned for them to be here, although when expectations are not, accountability must be upheld. We are the gatekeepers... No matter what I love my Bobcats, Go Cats!!!! HD Nation!!!
 5. So HD joins Iola, Evadale, Colmesneil, Burkeville and Sabine Pass in District 12-2A-II. I feel like Iola, Evadale and HD will fight it out for the District title. Iola is coming off a strong playoff season, while Evadale has been respectable in the last few years. HD on the other hand, took a nose dive in a tough District the last few years, after winning back to back District Championships. HD now has a good returning seasoned crop of Juniors, that were thrown into the fire as starters their Freshman year. HD's Junior RB Dalton Robinett is a game changer when he gets going. Robinett has good size and speed, with freakish athleticism. HD's Senior DE Kyle Rayon is a bull of a player, kid plays with grit. HD will have to cut down on turnovers and improve it's offensive attack from a year ago. HD showed glimpses of good things to come, when under center and not in the pistol last season. The bottom line is, will HD continue evolving the pistol, or maybe go with a misdirection offense that compliments it's personnel? At any rate, HD with all-time low numbers, will benefit no longer playing the larger 2A power houses like Lovelady and Centerville.
 6. Vikings take Johnny Manziel, Coach Zimmer did a good job of smoke screening. Johnny Football would team up well with Adrian Peterson, Cordarrelle Patterson, Greg Jennings and Kyle Rudolph.  I have been a huge Vikings fan for 30 years, so it may just be wishful thinking. lol
 7. Friday at 7pm, Hull-Daisetta vs Hardin at Bobcat Stadium!
 8.
He dropped Deweyville on the JV schedule. Wonder why.  ;D ::)
Still listed on my JV schedule. Groveton still on there too. Dville may have canceled. Come on, Dville ain't that good, never have been.

Be surprised if Finney stayed past next season.
lol  ::) Come on really. Not true at all. lol. The things people will say.  ??? HD may as well give up now and close the football program. lol SMH!  ::)
So you are saying that Finney has not canceled any sub level games with larger schools and substituted them with smaller or weaker level schools?
Schedule will change based on realignment happening. As far as pre-season games changing for HD, not at this point. Way to early to be looking into that. Now when the season ends, Coach will for sure look to lock some games in. I don't really see HD's current pre-season schedule as being a problem. Teams change their schedules all the time, especially at realignment. HD currently plays no perennial powerhouse on it's schedule, besides Groveton. All the other schools are traditionally average.
And I am not talking about "after realignment". I know for a fact he canceled a sub level game with a school for this season. Played it last year and got thumped. Canceled this season and replaced with a weaker team. It left the other team without a game to play for this season. IMO, you should stick to the two year schedule. According to some, this seems to be a pattern.
Wish I knew the team your saying he dropped. I do know Beaumont Legacy canceled HD. HD has a stacked team this year, don't believe HD is worried about anybody.
Yes!! So stacked!!
Hey clown, do you always got to post a negative comment about HD. Kountze has never been a football school, stick to basketball. It's funny your team finally has a good squad and you think yall are Celina.  ::) lol! Soon very soon!  ;) :-*

 13. WS is a top ranked playoff team. Kelly will get blown out by at least 4 scores. This is not a scrimmage. For the record I am not a WS fan.

HD has a better defense than Liberty. The Bobcat offense is looking sharp, Coach Finney and Coach Huckaby have them ready. For 52 years these two teams have played each other. HD leads series 45-7. Just curious, what's the record since 1995?

Since 1996, HD leads series 7-5. They didn't play in 95.
 17.
HD wins.....one more time. The hd move-ins are too much for the hornets this year. This will be the last time the bobcats win this game though....maybe ever. In fact,  I wouldn't be surprised if this game doesn't get scheduled again. I predict HD to have 12 wins over the next 5 years. And Hardin won't be any of those. for those of you that don't like my comments....sorry. Brutally honest is the only speed I go.
LMAO! Who are you, Kirk Herbstreit.  ::) Has anyone ever heard of such a crazy future prediction. I guess you are Nostradamus lol.  ::) Haters gonna hate. What I do know for sure is, this is HD's best team since 1991. I agree HD will not be as good the next few seasons. Although top players QB/FS Huckaby and DE/TE Hopkins will be back next season. I still see HD winning District and being competitive in the future. HD has been one of the winningest programs since the 1930's, don't see that changing. HD has won 63% of it's games, over 530 victories(7th most in small school ball). For the haters of HD, that have either lost to HD for years, or just the folks jealous over our recent move in's, HD will be ok in the future. Now I am gonna go on a thread and post like a worm, how a team will only have 12 wins in 5 years. LMAO! HATER! This dude must really think he is John Madden, lol. HD NATION!
 18.
The past means nothing to anyone, unless you are from HD. Hardin wins this game and HD needs to live in the present. Good luck to both teams but I believe the Hornets WILL win this game by two touchdowns.
Just like last year right... lol ::)
