My son usually went to the smaller camps (got more one one time with coaches) as he went into HS , then he started going to the college camps. The college camps are where they start tracking some of the kids that would start coming through their camps. Some college lineman camps my son attended Southern Arkansas - Great camp lots of one on one time, gives the kids nutrition guides, weight and running guide. Tarleton State another good camp. Southwestern College KS good camp (where he plays now) Do not send him to any full contact camps (out of state) Holler at me if you need any more info
Good info. Thanks.
one thing I think it helps them the best... is that they have a measuring stick on what they need to work on to make themselves better other then from a parent or a coach that they get talked to by all the time... its like a set of fresh eyes and they tend to listen better... not that the information is any different that is being told to them at home or at the school... but its from an outside source... he will come back telling you things that you have been telling him for years.... you will just have to smile nod and give your approval... LOL ... trust me on this HAHAHAH ... it will also give him exposure and let him understand that although the work regime at the high school is tough... it only gets tougher if you want that next level... I would also think about sending him to different camps each year.... so that he can get a broad array of thoughts and ideas on his position... he will find what works best for him and be better for it...
Good info, we do plan on going to different camps, next summer is LSU. Thanks for the post, good stuff.

My son is a 7th grader(13 years old) going to 8th grade in late August. He has played DL/OL since he was 5 years old, he is 6'0 257lbs. Monday he will be attending his first college camp, the Mack Brown intermediate lineman camp at UT. We plan on sending him to a camp every summer. I am wondering, when he gets to be a senior, how much of an advantage will he have vs kids that have never gone to a camp from 7th-12th grades? I hear these camps really help with hands and feet technique. I would really like to hear your opinions on this topic. Thanks.
What kind of speed do the 3 DE/OL players have? Unless it's 4.6 or faster, they better focus on OL to play at the next level.
Kyle Hopkins and Ken Lavalais both are fast kids with size. Both are 4.6 kids.

In 46 years of football Lumberton has went 0-10 or worse 6 times. Lumberton has only had 8 winning seasons in 46 years. 2010, 2007-2008, 94-95, 90-91, 69. Heck we might as well talk about Hardin or West Hardin. lol. Fact of the matter is... Haynes doesn't have to do much to change the culture and be a winner in Lumberton. History says the talent is not there and the district they play in is to much for them. Just saying. Out of the teams listed with new Coaches, Lumberton has the weakest history of success. I wish the Raiders the best, but it is gonna be tough.
Please elaborate on the Worse part.... I thought going 0-10 was as bad as it can get....
In 1967 they went 0-12-1. -
Hunter Johnson is one of the best QB's in SE Texas. What sucks is he has zero help on his team, as far as all-district type help. I would hate to know my team has no shot at the playoffs. 3 wins may be the result this year also. The culture for winning football is just not there, that does not change over night. Now baseball in Tarkington, yeah their good. Good luck Longhorns.
No he is not stating his opinion, he is spreading hear say of what some random co worker told him and attacking a coach who is 100% about integrity and discipline. Maybe I'm getting carried away, but I love Coach Haynes and he taught me the type of discipline that i still carry with me today. So gets me hot when some yokel from Hull heard some one from work say something so he decides to talk crap about Coach for a solid year every time his name comes up on this site. I shouldn't even stoop to the level of lashing out on a message board, but grow up pal. Coaches make a real difference in communities and lives, but you bash a mans character because it makes you feel tough on a message board. Yeah scatright you are a real authority on discipline.
Easy on the Hull bashing. You have now bashed Hull twice. Wakeup Haynes lover, you are the Crosby "Yokel" acting a fool and bashing people. Crosby really... I hope you are not thinking you are better than anybody lol. ::) I think Haynes is married. lol. ;D ;) :-* Scat, you are dead on my friend. This Crosby Clown is a joke. I'm just happy 2007 came, Crosby finally stopped getting destroyed in football. lmao! -

In no particular order Odessa Permian Brownwood Celina Mart Lake Travis Stephenville Amarillo Southlake Carroll Katy Wichita Falls (Old High) Abilene LaMarque Breckenridge Daingerfield Sealy Stamford Garland Ennis Sonora Waco High Converse Judson Plano Goldthwaite All these teams have 4 or more state championships. Disclaimer!!! Barbers Hill did not make the list ;D
State Titles don't always mean team was dominate from start to finish. Lufkin should be on list with only one State Title. Odessa Permian has been up and down in recent years. -

I remember seeing Butch Hadnot at an HD track meet when I was a kid. His thighs were huge, built like a tree trunk, he out ran everybody. He was a beast, bigger and faster than everybody. -

Chemical plants are sorta like science.?! The only game you'd have to worry about is the HD game. Loyalties run pretty deep. Let me know if you are interested.
lmao! -
I will say this, if you cannot throw the ball, you will not play QB for Larry Haynes. If Lumberton does not have someone who can throw it, he will take their best athlete and teach him how to throw it. Jordan Nolan and Miles Taylor are examples of this. They were both good athletes, but neither was destined to the the type of QB they were before Haynes arrival. Lumberton will sling it. They will live by it, and die by it. I'd assume the QB position is open.
Good post, I agree. My cousin George Westbrook says Larry Haynes may have been one of the best QB's in the history of Liberty County when he played for Hardin in 1974 and Liberty in 1975. Then Haynes played QB 4 years at Lamar. He set records at Lamar. He knows QB play.
